Do you think the red witch used her magic to help Arya Stark get to the night king so quickly?...Arya seemed to fly past the white walkers and was totally in flight when she engaged the night king...Seemed to me that magic was used...

No. I don't think magic was used in that scenario but, that is another thorn in my side. All that build up to Arya and the faceless man training for what? In the end she bows out of killing Cersei. The only really cool part of her getting all that training was when she took out the Frey family.

All I'm saying or trying to say is the writers had so much to work with and they opted out of everything. For 10 years they kept us on the edge of our seats guessing and speculating what amazing thing was going to come next. And then come crunch time, after investing all those years in a program, they didn't use any of the characters back stories to get closure.

1 What did the voice say to Lord Varys. Remember he heard a voice when he was being tortured as a child? Remember the Red Priestess referencing it when he and Tyrion were trying to get the support of the people back when Daenerys went missing with Drogon? We never find out what was said or who it was.

2 Who was that woman with the masked face when Daenerys and her followers took refuge in the city of Qarth. She seemed to know all about them and was trying to help. We never find out.

Why didn't they use the Dire Wolves in the Long Night Battle? They made a point of Ayra running in her Dire Wolf before she went home. What the hell happened to Ghost? He was in the first line of defense in that battle and then never mentioned again. Even after Jon Snow was banished to the north, you don't see Ghost going with him at the end.

3 Why was Tyrion forgive but, Jon Snow had to be banished?

4 Don't get me started on that crap ending for Cersei. She deserved so much more than a building falling down upon her.

5 What happened to Bronn?

6 What was the Mountain? He wasn't a white walker. He looked like one. He couldn't be killed. He followed orders and seemed to be able to still think for himself. What was he?

7 It just seemed to me and many other fans of the show that all the character build up we invested in for 10 years was for nothing.

Oh and how did Jon snow and all the people who returned to the north with him pass through the gate of the castle wall when there was no wall left. The Night King destroyed the wall remember?

I considered all of her training with the faceless man as preparation for her eventual encounter with the Night King...A girl her age and stature would not have the courage nor the skill to face the Night King without all of that training and suffering she underwent...

All I'm saying or trying to say is the writers had so much to work with and they opted out of everything. For 10 years they kept us on the edge of our seats guessing and speculating what amazing thing was going to come next. I completely agree with your assessment, it is a big letdown when they do not follow through with what they start, that's how expectations grow over a few years of watching a show, they initiate those expectations through their own writing and in this case they came up way short...I haven't watched that type of show before, of that time era I mean, so I kind of enjoyed that change, although I did fast forward a few scenes here and there when it got very very gory, I didn't want to see some of that lol...

Remember the Red Priestess referencing it when he and Tyrion were trying to get the support of the people back when Daenerys went missing with Drogon? We never find out what was said or who it was.

I'm going to rewatch that, I missed some of that part...

He was in the first line of defense in that battle and then never mentioned again. Even after Jon Snow was banished to the north, you don't see Ghost going with him at the end.

That's a good question, they only show one wolf in the beginning of the battle, I wanted to see more giants fighting, for both sides and they only showed one up close and one getting torched by dragon fire from a distance, both were dead giants too...

3 Why was Tyrion forgive but, Jon Snow had to be banished?

Because he was a Targaryen? and it seemed like they never wanted a Targaryen anywhere close to having power again...

4 Don't get me started on that crap ending for Cersei. She deserved so much more than a building falling down upon her.

I despised Cersei, she was a madwoman with serious mental issues and delusions of grandeur, she destroyed her family completely without remorse, all for power, she destroyed other houses too and thought it was a game, and laid the way to get her people slaughtered, I think she deserved worse than just a wall falling on her...They should have had her killed by dragon fire...

5 What happened to Bronn?

He was part of the Hand's advisors shown in the end serving King Bran the Broken...

6 What was the Mountain? He wasn't a white walker. He looked like one. He couldn't be killed. He followed orders and seemed to be able to still think for himself. What was he?

Wasn't he stabbed multiple times and stabbed in the eye?...

7 It just seemed to me and many other fans of the show that all the character build up we invested in for 10 years was for nothing.

I agree, if I had invested a viewing time over a few years of following the show I would be upset at how they handled the final season as well, even from my perspective it seemed they rushed through it, I think they should have made the long night episode into two episodes and the fall of Cersei also a two parter...The final season should have been longer and filled in all the questions or they could have done a final movie to finish off the story better...

Only part of the wall was destroyed, the part near the ocean, but wasn't Castle Black completely destroyed?...

George R.R. Martin Says ‘Game of Thrones’ Needed 13 Seasons to Remain Faithful to Books

HBO’s blockbuster series “Game of Thrones” wrapped up its Emmy-winning run earlier this year with its eighth and final season, but author George R.R. Martin estimates the show would’ve needed five more seasons if it wanted to be completely faithful to his popular “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series. Martin’s preferred run would’ve made “Thrones” a 13-season series. Speaking to Fast Company magazine (via Digital Spy), Martin said “it can be traumatic” when adapting a novel as dense as “Game of Thrones” to a visual medium.

“You get totally extraneous things like the studio or the network weighing in,” Martin said. “And they have some particular thing that has nothing to do with story, but relates to, ‘Well this character has a very high Q Rating so let’s give him a lot more stuff to do.'”

Martin added, “The [final] series has been not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons.

Following the series finale in May, Martin took to his blog to assure fans the show did not completely represent how he’s planning on finishing his novels. “How will it all end? I hear people asking,” the author wrote. “The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had six hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3,000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done…and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.”

Martin still has two books left to publish in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series: “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring.” Fans have been waiting for years for Martin to release “Winds of Winter,” and the author has long expressed frustration over the fact the show surpassed his books and gave away certain plot points on the screen before he could on the page.

“The Winds of Winter” has yet to even receive a publication date. Martin is also busy producing two “Game of Thrones” spinoff series for HBO, one of which is a Targaryen prequel series.

The look in the eyes of Arya Stark when she first sees the dead army engaging the armies of men speaks volumes...She seemed so confident in her training and skills and all of that confidence was momentarily lost in that first gaze...The hopelessness in her eyes for that moment spoke volumes for every person in that long night battle, when the dead army hit them hard and even with two fire breathing dragons burning down the dead, every main character also revealed that momentary hopelessness...It seemed even Brandon Stark, with all his psychic abilities, did not hold much hope in defeating the Night King and the dead army...

So I finished watching this series again and there are many clues throughout the seasons that give indication of the Dragon Queen's change of becoming more like those rulers she has conquered...Some people even push her in that direction, convincing her to be more ruthless, one royal lady even telling her to be who she really is, "be the dragon"...

'Game of Thrones' star Kristofer Hivju tests positive for coronavirus

Kristofer Hivju, who starred as Tormund Giantsbane on "Game of Thrones," revealed on Instagram on Monday that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

"Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus," the 41-year-old actor wrote alongside a selfie of him and his wife, Gry Molvær Hivju.

"My familiy [sic] and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health - I only have mild symptoms of a cold," he continued. "There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters [1.6 yards] distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading."

Watching season six episode five called "The Door"...For a fictional origin story, Hodor's origin story was fantastic and emotional...I wished he was somehow brought back by the Red Witches or someone to fight and defend Bram in the Great War...

Diana Rigg once 'stormed off' the set of Game of Thrones – and inspired costars

The great, late Diana Rigg was an inspiring and intimidating force both on and off camera as the Queen of Thorns Olenna Tyrell.

As detailed in the upcoming book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon – the first uncensored behind-the-scenes story of the making Game of Thrones – Rigg was not only formidable as the crafty House Tyrell matriarch across five seasons of the HBO fantasy series, she could be fierce backstage as well.

The Royal Shakespeare Company veteran, who died earlier this month, was 74 when she was offered a recurring role in the series by showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss in 2012. "We had tea with her," Benioff recalls. "Dames don't audition for you; you audition for them. We loved her, she was funny, she was bawdy, she was everything we wanted for that character." Adds Weiss: "She said with a big smile, 'There's an awful lot of bonking, isn't there?'" of the show's R-rated content.

Then Rigg impressed the producers by arriving at her first table read having already memorized all her lines for the season, showing some of the less experienced cast members how a seasoned pro prepares for a job.

Over the years, Rigg continually stunned with her ability to deliver instant-classic takes on the writers' material and helped make many lines iconic, such as: "I’ve known a great many clever men. I’ve outlived them all. You know why? I ignored them," and "I wonder if you’re the worst person I’ve ever met. At a certain age, it’s hard to recall, but the truly vile do stand out through the years."

But Rigg also had a clear mind as to how her scenes should be performed and wasn't always amenable to suggestions. "I was terrified of Diana Rigg," says Emmy-nominated director Mark Mylod, a sentiment echoed by other directors during interviews conducted for the book last year. "My very first scene with her, I asked her to do a very minor thing. Like, 'Would it make sense if you close the door and walk a few paces before this moment?' She came back with some rebuttal about why she wanted to do it another way and then said: 'Thank you! Go away!' I became a five-year-old boy. I could feel myself blushing and creeping back to my monitor, stripped of any kind of dignity or authority."

Yet Rigg's high level of skill – she earned four Emmy nominations playing Olenna – was invaluable for those fortunate enough to perform opposite her, such as Rigg's frequent scene partner Natalie Dormer, who played Olenna's ambitious granddaughter Margaery Tyrell. "When you have someone who has that many accolades, you just shut up and watch," Dormer says. "She had a very dry sense of humor and was aware of the parody of herself. Sometimes I think she was mischievous to see what she could get away with."

One time Rigg tried – and succeeded – in mischievously getting away with shortening her duties to perform a brief scene in season 6. It was the scene where Olenna discusses strategy with Ellaria Sand and famously cuts short Sand Snakes Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene by snapping, "Oh do shut up ... Let the grown women speak."

"She walked onto the set, and she went, 'I’m ready now!'" recalls Jessica Henwick, who played the whip-snapping Nymeria Sand. "A cameraman came over and went, 'Well, okay, but we haven’t finished setting up.' She interrupted him and said, 'Roll the cameras!' And she just started doing her lines. She did two takes, and then the guy came over and was like, 'Great, now we’re going to do a close-up.' And she just stood up and she went, 'I’m done!'"

"Now, she can’t walk fast. She has to be helped. So basically we just sat there and watched as Diana Rigg effectively did her own version of storming off the set, but it was at 0.1 miles per hour. She cracked me up. I loved her."

Rigg also had a one-on-one scene with Emilia Clarke. Like other actors on the show, Clarke recalled being in awe of the dame's abilities and just trying to remain present as her character. "I only had one scene with her and was very blessed to have had that," the Daenerys Targaryen actress says. "Like with Peter [Dinklage], it was watching an acting master class. I kept thinking: “Okay, not my line yet, I’m not just watching you — really! I’m acting with you. . . .”

In that scene, Olenna gave Daenerys her most famous pieces of advice: "The lords of Westeros are sheep. Are you a sheep? No. You’re a dragon. Be a dragon."

Benioff and Weiss expanded Olenna's role from author George R.R. Martin's novels to double down on Rigg's strength as a performer. But Olenna's arc ended in season 7 in one of the show's finest death scenes. The Queen of Thorns turned the tables on a stunned Jaime Lannister after the Kingslayer ordered her to drink fatal poison by confessing she masterminded the murder of Joffrey Baratheon – “Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me."

Says Weiss: “Olenna was probably the only character to win her own death scene."

After watching the Game of Thrones from beginning to end twice now, I can see why fans were so disappointed and upset with season 8...Its also sad the book writer didn't finish the freaking story...I liked the Long Night episode as a stand alone but it could have been better in support for the overall series...

Brienne of Tarth is a great character in Game of Thrones, wished she had a more pivotal role in her story arcs, I mean, she was great but had so much potential to do more...I'm really not sure of her final role at the end of the series, was she still serving Sansa Stark or something else?...

As far as I'm concerned, the entire cast was cheated out of their '15 minutes of fame' so to speak. They were all so carefully and beautifully arced together on purpose and not one of them reached their potential. They all might as well have been struck by lightening. It would have been a more believable ending.

They should have just ended it at season 7 and let someone else pick it up and run with it in the future some time.
