How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I expect anyone looking for any of the items now are going to be like the person I saw earlier today at the grocery store,
she was asking someone where you buy a face mask...
clearly had no idea that you really can't right now
at least where I live, if you did not have something quite a while ago, you are likely not getting it.

Yup. Got asked that at least a dozen times yesterday. Where the hell have these people been? Self absorbed munching on grass while the rest of the herd reacts.

Equally aggravating are the numbers of people showing up with N95 masks. Where did they come from and cumulatively, what effect did that have on those who truly needed them? There's something inherently wrong about using a resource like that so you can go buy grass seed and paint.

I've been reading about this storage of toilet paper, of all things, mainly because as I was searching for other information I would see information about toilet paper shortages randomly tucked in the search results, so I would randomly read some of them...I've come to the conclusion, a conclusion which an article I read early this morning also insinuated, that the shortage has nothing to do with the alleged hording we've heard so much about, its about jobs...Millions of people are not working but instead they are home 90 percent or more of their time, that is the problem and why we see the toilet paper shelves empty...

Businesses like Georgia Pacific who supply toilet paper divide the toilet paper into two routes, residential and commercial, and the commercial path of their toilet paper commerce is set up to capture a much higher percentage of volume than residential sales...Also they said the residential toilet paper has much more new fiber content than the commercial which has significantly more fiber but in a pinch I'm sure no residential home would complain about using commercial grade paper...

So now with millions at home the residential demand for toilet paper went up over 60% and the commercial demand dropped down because of people staying at home now, they aren't shyting at work, companies aren't buying toilet paper so commercial supplies are in abundance and residential is trying to keep up...They said there isn't a fast way of switching gears to meet sudden demand changes, it takes time to set up new deals, contracts, agreements and start moving product into a different direction, I can understand that to a certain degree, I assume we will be seeing more and more toilet paper on the shelves as the month of April rolls on lol...

...

In 2008 it was ammo. The problem wasn't lack of normal supply, the problem was abnormal demand. Manufacturers were filling three shifts and even running out of components to meet the extraordinary need. The vast majority of which, I can almost guarantee, is still sitting in various lockers and closets and bunkers around the country. I guess 'Obama's blue helmeted UN army' didn't come and take away all our guns after all. Go figure.

As a patriotic American I consider it my duty to use my toilet paper to its fullest capability and not waste it.

Going back to the matter of 5G and coronavirus, some mobile phone masts have been vandalized in Britain. It is thought this is due to internet rumours of links between 5G and coronavirus.

UK phone masts attacked amid 5G-coronavirus conspiracy theory
Tech firms summoned over 'crackpot' 5G conspiracies

It really is bone-headedly stupid to be spreading this nonsense rumour. People are reliant on telecommunications now more than they ever have been before.

Actors are best served when other people write the words that come out of their mouths

Woody Harrelson among stars sharing COVID-19 conspiracy theories tied to 5G By Lee Brown April 5, 2020 | 8:35pm

Wild conspiracy theories linking 5G networks to the coronavirus pandemic are being blamed for a spate of attacks on UK cellphone towers — and are even being spread by celebrities such as Woody Harrelson.

Fires at towers in Birmingham, Liverpool and Belfast have all been blamed on the conspiracy theories, UK officials said. The theories have ranged from 5G signals causing the virus, to the contagion being started as a cover-up for health maladies related to the networks.

UK Cabinet minister Michael Gove damned the tales as “dangerous nonsense” while noting that the damaged phone lines are crucial for emergency services battling the pandemic.

Yet the conspiracy theories are quickly reaching a massive audience — thanks in parts to celebrities now sharing it with millions of people on social media.

Former “Cheers” TV star Woody Harrelson recently posted a report “about the negative effects of 5G” and its supposed role in the coronavirus pandemic to his more than 2 million Instagram followers.

“I haven’t fully vetted it I find it very interesting,” he wrote of the report claiming “5G radiation” is “exacerbating” the contagion’s spread and making it more lethal.

That post got 25,500 likes — while a later one of a video showing Chinese campaigners attacking phone towers there got viewed more than 300,000 times.

Singer M.I.A. has also repeatedly tweeted about her fears over 5G — recently saying that even if it does not cause COVID-19, it “can confuse or slow the body down in healing process as body is learning to cope with new signals wavelength s frequency etc @ same time as Cov.”

The “Paper Planes” rapper even posted a photo of one of the burning towers.

“People in England are setting fire to it. They should just turn it off till after the pandemic!” she wrote.

Professor Stephen Powis, the UK’s national medical director, called the theories “outrageous” and “absolute and utter rubbish.”

Dr. Michael Head of the University of Southampton also told the Evening Standard that such “ignorance” could prove dangerous.

“Conspiracy theorists are a public health danger who once read a Facebook page,” he told the Evening Standard.

“The celebrities fanning the flames of these conspiracy theorists should be ashamed.”

Aggravating as hell I will say that.....But this goes to show how unprepared the US and other countries are for incidences like this....As far as conspiracy theory goes, people that are doing it need to shut the hell up! And the 5G spreading it is about as ridiculous as anything these tin foil hatters have ever come up with! Give them time. Farts will be spreading it according to them.

At work there sits in our supply cabinet 1 opened and 1 unopened boxes of N95 masks made by 3M that were irregularly used previously during pre-coronavirus life at work...

I'm at work now sitting in my car finishing a red bull, I don't need to be at work but just popping in to check on things with my engineers, more of a moral support sort of pop in...It's Monday and they tell me things are going well, a good time to stop in so I can promptly leave when I want lol...

I'm going to shave my hair off tight with a five blade hand job. Not for cleanliness although it helps but because someone called it big.

Lucky they had the obligatory two meter head start.

Two post offices near me have closed until further notice. The third one I went to had barriers to prevent you from being within six feet of a teller. They have a small parking lot and won't be able to handle the influx of people.

@Ray good to see you here again, I was thinking about you, not sure what part of Italy you reside, but glad you're safe...
.

Thank you, i was helping the local hospice and aiding the red cross in the distribution of food till almost 2 weeks ago, now i'm auto-quarantined because i had a sort of flu for some days (I'm pretty sure isn't corona, but who knows).

In my city the coronavirus situation is actually manageable, so don't worry. Thank you for your concern.

Ugh...I'm 30 minutes from my house in a different County and a bigger City that has two hundred times more infected people then where I live at...I'm here because a friend needed my help so I came wearing all my PPE gear and for this trip also wearing disposable coveralls that you use for painting LOL, and I brought three extra pair in the trunk of my car...At least he doesn't live in a heavily congested area...

If you have to mix it up then better safe than sorry, unless you are wearing so much kit you become a walking trip hazard, that's where the cure can be worse than the desease. No one is expecting me to go anywhere which is a privileged position right now. I'm thankful for that and will be paid eighty percent of my income. Not for some while though and not good enough for those who are desperate.

I sense an inevitability looming where I am. Hospital up the road has two of three levels just on covid and a testing center near by too.

I'm almost bare backing it.

Yeah I was driving back home this evening, just got back 20 minutes ago as a matter of fact, and my mom texts me to tell me there were 91 new cases so far today in the same city/county I was at this afternoon...Ugh, it figures there would be a spike in the same area I go to...People in that city are also protesting the lockdown and I hear other areas in North Carolina are also protesting now...

That's unlucky to visit a spiked area, I'm always in the spike here and feel the time coming closer. It's getting more and more risky to do anything but I have to soon. I'm having an internal shifting on a political front nivek. I don't know what's happening to me but I'm so frustrated with being parented by our officials during this. They are collectively hiding behind the science and hiding a truth that I suspect is just how unprepared our nation was and the reasons for that.

I am hoping this brings on different sort of governance. Maybe even a one party rule as the center ground is a favourable position, this has a better chance now than ever but it feels akin to pissing into a head wind.

I've stayed home all day today, and not going anywhere until tomorrow morning when I go to work...Its kind of cold outside today, coldest day this month and dropping to freezing tonight, so yeah just a quiet day and night at home this day...

There's been much outspoken protests from Americans concerned about the political officials parenting us too much, some States are squeezing the turnip so to speak, going over and beyond their powers...Michigan for example, amongst many other things has deemed vegetable seeds as non-essential items and banned any sale of them on shops across the State...That is insane if you ask me, and honestly I am starting to side with the protesting American citizens, many of which are really concerned about small businesses being lost forever and our economy going to ruin...The Governors of the States are right in wanting to protect the people from this virus but some are going overboard, there's going to be civil disorder if the 'elected' officials don't take care in their decisions...Then we had wannabe king Trump try to pull a fast one claiming his word is law in so many words and the States must obey him, the fucker obviously does not know the Constitution very well, States aren't governed in that way...There are things I am certainly not liking here with our elected officials, like I said I am leaning more and more with the people who are standing up in protest, you can't keep American citizens locked up in their houses without consequences...The winds are starting to change directions over here across the pond...

As time plays out it is becoming more and more apparent that nipping this in the bud and giving the economy no regard at all could have stopped this in its tracks or at least would have given us the time to tackle it without fighting a fire. I mean if we are curbing it now, then the question has to be why not when it was vital. For those who think along those lines and have lost a loved one I dread to imagine the pure anguish felt.

If this happens again in our life time and with enough time in between to get back to normal I wonder how different our approachwould be. We need a more Macron like briefing where point scoring is not on the menu as he openly admits that we got a lot wrong, it goes such a long way and covers so many areas. Our bunch are stiffer than a broom pole and just repeat a mantra and have become formulaic and today it was served with a side of woke salad. People are tuning out from it wholesale.

I know and I appreciate that this is a unique incident but it doesn't excuse what we are seeing. Front line workers with no protection still to this day and a complete failing with our care workers and care homes. They are the ones who are at risk as they have always said and the ones who would strain the NHS, now if you get it and are a resident, there is a big chance the decision not to send you to hospital has already been made.

This is the herd process at work after they claimed it and then denied it's meaning as if we misunderstood the meaning. What's to misunderstand about a two word statement.

I feel politically destitute by this, my trust has gone for this lot and I am now floating without a colour.

Playing this down and saying everything is in hand when key workers are dropping dead because they don't have protection sounds a bit Chinese to me, only difference being is they were in full hazmat.

Lately I have been going in to work for about 6 hours a day on average, some days a bit longer if I'm needed, always wearing a mask at work too...When I go to the grocery I still wear a respirator and goggles and gloves and use an ultraviolet light bar to disinfect the PPE gear...The cases are low in my area and people in the small town near me are following social distancing suggestions and many more people are wearing masks than a couple weeks ago...Still no toilet paper nor paper towels to be found last I looked, also rice is in short supply but bread is more available now...

I lost my job. My store that I spent years to build is closed. I fought to make it the best, and it is gone. My husband has been there I cried so much. Depression hits me hard. But there are moments. My oldest son learning to cook. My baby daughter making messes and learning how to read and count. My two oldest doing food runs so that those who cant go out can get food. And many times using their own money. And my younger son. He found something special to believe in, a love and hope found only in nature.
I will be alright this will pass. as a fire cleans an old wood and makes it new.
Faith holds me. it guides me. Let it guide you to.
Blessed Be

Masks seem to be optional where I am. On my last grocery trip I took one with me but didn't wear it. But when I went to pick up an order at Home Depot, I did. Different cities, different rates of infection.
