Shocking Star Trek Rumor!

It's just a rumor, so don't freak out...yet...
Rumor: CBS considering making James Kirk bisexual in new Star Trek series
James Kirk may be bisexual in the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was supposed to be a series that appealed to all fans, new and old. The idea was to bring in the original crew of the Enterprise that was part of the original series pilot. The series was to focus on the likes of Captain Pike (portrayed by Anson Mount), Spock (Ethan Peck), Number One (Rebecca Romijn), and others who were part of the original canceled pilot. There’s a rumor that says James Kirk was going to be part of the new series as a recurring character, though that right now, is still only a rumor.

However, another new rumor will make fans even more split, and that rumor will feature a huge change to Star Trek canon. One that will effectively divide the fanbase even more so than it already is, and that’s making James Kirk bisexual. According to “trusted insider” Daniel Richtman, CBS is considering making Kirk bisexual in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Kirk has never been portrayed, hinted at, or alleged to be anything other than straight in all canon Star Trek media.

The move, should it happen, will absolutely splinter an already divided fanbase even more so. Fans have been critical of the last two Star Trek series; Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. Many have taken a hardline stance either for or against the new series, but that divide will further be highlighted should this rumor come to fruition.

Many had hope Strange New Worlds would get back to classic Trek, with classic characters and classic adventures. Yet, now fans will once again ignore the series for what it is, and instead, embrace it or deny it for what they want it to represent. There’s no denying that this rumor alone will cause there to be much debate over the topic.

Maybe that’s something that CBS possibly wants? A digital focus group.

So, do you want to see a bisexual Kirk?

My intrest lies in can they actually make good story and characters, not just pandering to diversity crowds. Weve seen the latter path leads many times to mixed reactions and divided fanbases.

I live in Colorado, where we have a gay governor. Nobody gives a shit. Seriously, nobody even mentions it.

If Kirk is bi, then a revival of all that silly Kirk-Spock erotic fan fiction is inevitable. I can hardly wait.

But as Spiff says, the show will live or die according to whether the writing is any good. Not holding my breath.

I was 7 years old when I first watched Star Trek. I didn't care about Kirk's sexuality then nor do I now.

But, they better not mess with, Kahn. lol

They can have all the gay or bisexual captains or crew members they want, just please don't screw around with my old school icon !

I thought it weird in ST5 that Scotty finally wanted to cozy up to Uhura, weirder that the New Spock was actually doing the bone dance with the New Uhura, but strangely didn't mind that the New Kirk was rolling around with some woman with a tail.

This is what guest stars are for.

Kirk is so much fun. A true "man of his time", and I don't mean the twenty-third-and-a-half century. You just know he smoked cigars and called women "broads" when he was off camera. I mean Kirk of course, not (necessarily) Shatner.

I thought the "reboot" with a younger cast was rather brilliantly done. The whole franchise pretty much turned to shit from there, though, as far as I can tell. I'm a Rodenberry fan though. He was an interesting character in many ways. I've read a couple of biographies of the guy, along with other stuff. There is a lot of Rodenberry in our Captain Kirk. Rodenberry was a B-17 pilot in WWII. Captain Gene. Eighty-nine combat missions, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal. That's the guy who decided to base Starfleet on the Coast Guard, not the Air Force.

And here's a sneak preview of the late-great Anton Yelchin's replacement as the eponymous Enterprise co-pilot ensign Pavel Chekov.

The new Picard series really revived and refreshed the Star Trek franchise in my opinion, the way they tied in the older series with a bold move forward in special effects, characters, acting, and technological advances in the Star Trek timeline...I hate to sound like a promoter of the series, but the first season was damn good...

Haven't seen that one. Not that I have avoided it, we just don't have TV here. I'm using a 40" TV as a monitor at the moment, and we have Netflix, Prime, and all the free stuff on the web. No network TV of any sort, which is how we like it. Anyway, Picard is my favorite Trek captain. I like them all. The underrated Captain Cisko is one I like a lot. He was a badass. Didn't take him long to figure out how to get rid of that insufferable Q.

Anyway, I'll have to check it out. I figure anything with Patrick Stewart in it has to be at least watchable. Well, except that one awful Trek movie, the one with a fucking car chase, what was it, Nemesis or something? Yikes.

Yep, I agree with our friend Nivek, you will not be too disappointed with the series imo, I too am a Patrick Stewart fan [have been since I Claudius, and found out that he comes from the same neck of the woods as me actually] ... for me it started off like a train and was something new and exciting to the franchise but thought it tapered off a little toward the end. Nevertheless a great starting point and can't wait for the next instalments . ... And like you, i'm also as tight as a duck's arsehole , and get everything as cheaply as possible. I watch my favourite stuff through either my son's Netflix subscription or via the HDMI cable from my p.c to the television. [magic-stuff] lol

ps... I love Q. ... What's the matter with you man? :biggrinn8:

Cheers Buddy.

Oh I like Q. He was a great invention, and it's hard to imagine anyone but John de Lancie playing him. He was insufferable of course. That was his main shtick. I thought de Lancie was brilliant in the part. His reaction to being decked by Cisko was priceless. Cisko don't screw around when it comes to problem solving.

It was excellent of them to bring in Seven of Nine, an outstanding performance by Jeri Ryan, and she looks great too lol...

Yes I quite liked Sisko myself, though Odo and specially Quark were the cream of that show in my eyes . And tbh, it was of course watchable, but from my point of view was probably the weakest link so far in the franchise ... but I still miss it. lol.
And yes you are 100% correct with your praise of De Lancie, he was a perfect fit for the character [that I always assumed was based on Trelane from the original production] Trelane ... De Lancie just about matched William Campbell's memorable performance, with his outward bafoonish bon ami complimenting his other face that exuded real menace at the drop of a hat.

Cheers Buddy.

Yes I agree again mate, I actually think that Jeri as matured favourably. .. But alas, the powers that be decided that was of no consequence to middle-aged guys like us Nivek... because they couldn't resist that P.C-Pandering again and made her bat for the other side didn't they! lol.
