How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I haven't had AC in my car since I've had the car, over 4 years, just procrastinating buying a new compressor...So in the heat of the summer it's hot and sweaty if I drive, all the windows down all the time lol...

...

I don't use it much in my truck at all, it's a supercab and with all 4 windows down it's comfy. I mind the heat a lot less than the cold.

Coincidentally, this is the second time in the past 24 hours this topic has come up. A family member has an '89 Saab. No idea what model, I've never seen it. It sits in a garage 99% of the time and has the nerve to not work perfectly when totally ignored for long periods of time. Personally, I'd take it down to the Hudson River and see if it floats.

Do you have air conditioning at home?

Unfortunately for me, I had a string of 13 heart attacks in 2014 which left my heart permanently damaged. I told the doctor that I can't seem to handle the heat. He said, "And you never will again."

We're in the middle of a heatwave here. On Wednesday, I decided I couldn't put it off any longer and start setting up the air conditioning to fit the balcony door. No one will cut me the proper sized pieces of wood with the oddly shaped holes that need to be cut into them for the dual hoses to vent. So, I have had to makeshift something for myself using the existing pieces of wood the guy offered me when I purchased them at the garage sale. The bedroom window was easy to makeshift with some thick cardboard and a outdoor sized garbage bag and each year all I have to do is lift it in and out of the window frame each year.

The balcony is a different story. It requires a lot of cardboard, garbage bags and tons duct tape because it doesn't fit properly in the door after all that tape I use to attach the thick cardboard to the existing piece of wood. It leaves large spaces and all kinds of critters like mosquitoes, fly's, wasps, bees, hornets, spiders of all shapes sizes and colors, free entry inside.

It also requires me at five feet two inches tall, to climb on to a chair and with the additional help of a long handled shoehorn, and 2 old phone books on the seat of the chair, to reach the top of the 15 foot high balcony door frame. I fell off the chair 3 times . I could hardly move yesterday and I am moving pretty slowly today. Lots of cuts, bumps, bruises and really sore muscles. Not to leave out mentioning twisting my back, hips and an ankle. Hey it took 2 hours but, I got air conditioning.

No air conditioning means overheating and that means stroke/heart attack and or death for me. That's why I am so appreciative of Kent working this hard to make sure my old vehicle has what it needs to keep me safe and comfortable. :)

Oh yes I have AC in my house and in my workshop, it's hot here in North Carolina, don't get me wrong and I'd love to have AC in my car too but I don't...I completely understand when dealing with health issues, I hope you don't think I was implying that AC wasn't needed for you...We all have different lifestyles and needs and different things we have to deal with, I'm not judging apples against oranges lol, just stating my silly procrastination lol...

Now here's what I hope to do for groceries. I found some dramamean tablets. I'll take half of one so I don't get too sleepy (side affect for me using it) and hopefully I will be able to handle the back seat trip to the store. It should only take 5-10 minutes to get there depending on traffic. I hadn't factored in being hurt so, I don't know if I can do it because it is going to take a lot of energy just getting showered and dressed and ready to go. After that I will have to spend a hour walking isles and bending and lifting stuff off shelves and into a cart. I know it does not sound like a lot of work for you guys but, for me it is killer hard work.

I don't want to put off shopping because it is the end of the month and that means payday for everybody which means it will be swamped in store on Saturday. Not necessarily inside store swamped but definitely standing in a long line of people outside in a heat wave waiting to enter and shop. I don't even have a slice of bread or a pickle left in the kitchen, definitely out of fruit, vegs. and dairy for weeks already. Ran out of pasta, milk and cheese yesterday.

I have every intention of going but, if I run out of energy after grooming myself there is always pizza delivery tonight and 7 Eleven tomorrow.

We once used window AC units in our house. The refrigerant ran out in one of the units. We found out the government had banned the particular coolant we needed. We discovered that the government still allowed the farming community to use this banned coolant. We had to go to a farm supply store and stock up on a few cans of the stuff.

I know you were not judging or implying anything, Nivek . I think it was just a matter of us typing up posts at the same time. Mine take a lot longer to post than yours so, I hope you didn't think I was upset with you because I'm not.

The reason I was inquiring if you had air conditioning at home was because I was wondering if you knew about the way dogs shed hair/fur? Their coats are temperature controlled. If you keep varying the temperature where they live {spend most of their time) you end up with a dog that sheds year round.

Kobi is the first long haired dog I've had and in my house the back of the house is cooler than the front...I have an old house with plaster walls on the original part of the house which is the back part, the front section of the house was added in later years...Once those old timey plaster walls get cool they stay cool for long periods of time, same in the winter, once the plaster walls get warm they stay warm, the back of the house stays warmer in the winter...So Kobi likes to stay in the cooler part of the house during the winter and the cooler part of the house in the winter lol, fortunately for him I like my bedroom cooler in the winter, I would rather have a cooler room and throw on a blanket in bed than to have a warm room and might sweat during the night, I hate to sweat when I sleep lol...I'd also say my bedroom is the coolest room in the summer too lol...The house overall stay at a fairly continuous temperature but maybe going from a cooler house to the heat outside for him also makes him shed more...

A friend texted me today saying he's in South Carolina at a family reunion, he lives in North Carolina near my area...Anyway, over 50 people, I saw pics he texted, no one wearing masks and they come from all over NC and SC...This friend has been stopping by my house once or sometimes twice a week to visit, have a beer but now that he told me where he's at this weekend, I'm not going to allow him to stop by my house for about 3 weeks...I didn't tell him that today, it can wait for another time, but I'm not taking any chances with this one, any of his relatives could have the virus and spread it to everyone there, and him bringing it back here possibly...Best to stay away for 3 weeks to be sure, hope he understands, no offense but it could be a matter of live and death, if I got it from him then my mother gets it and my neighbors, best not to take unnecessary risks in this case...

My nephew and his fiancé will be getting married in May of 2021. When they first announced it, I thought there would be plenty of time to be over the Corona epidemic. Now I wonder if the country will still be knee deep in virus concerns. I do know the wedding is supposed to be an outdoor setting. I really don’t wish to wear a mask for a whole weekend. I guess I will have to wait it out for now and see what transpires in 2021.

We are a lot alike, Nivek. I prefer the colder side of life. I always say that there is only so much you can do to cool down and stay cooled down. But if you are cold, it is easy to turn up the thermostat, or put on another sweater, or house coat, or even snuggle up on the couch under a blanket. :)

I had a Newfoundland dog once. They have a layer of down under their fur. Hair even continuously grows between the pads of their feet. There were times of the year when I would come home from work and there was so much hair on the floor that you couldn't see the carpet. lol

I thought today was Friday

My wife has been getting up first and making coffee lately. Today she put out my old Paracast mug. Habit I've been in.

Only way I would have known it was Sunday. I've lost all track of what day of the week it is. Coronafog.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
Yesterday my son Ian went out to Goodman's diamond. It would have been the start of the city championship.
When I found him he was sitting in a blechers crying. My 13 year old son in tears.
We begin to talk. Baseball means a lot to him and to lose it..
And so we talked about it in the disappointment of a lost year...
