Hi The Shadow , hope you and the family are well my friend.
... Good thread, I love a good ghost thread but I have to confess to being firmly on the fence as to what I believe is really behind the phenomenon. ... for instance I love a good yarn that is being claimed with apparent earnestness , I also love to mull over the possibilities of the many decent 'ghost-photos' that I see all over the place, [ie the Freddy Jackson somehow rings true to my little-unprofessionally-trained-mind] .. and also have seen some quite inexplicable old film clips that could just be?... But then as you know, my biggest interest [for some reason?] is in the authentication of UFO/ET testimony-pictures-and-film-evidence. ..And as such my full and unconditional sympathies and best wishes are with the guys who's main quest and desire in life is to find 'the smoking gun evidence' in any of the many branches of paranormal/forteana that they have a passion for.
... Meaning best wishes and good luck with the sifting of actual gold from all of the unceasing pile of moneymaking and mischievous BS that abounds all of the different areas of study!
... And from a novices pov after watching your two videos, I would say that personally the first one seems to be the more 'authentic' in as much as it doesn't feel as staged . .. But then could just as easily have been intended that way, .. and the point that i'm hamfistedly trying to make is that on the video 'the experts' were all enthusiastically promoting the notion that because this film was shot on an old camcorder that there could be 'no special effects involved' ... well! ... I'd like to moot that would be a fairly silly statement for an 'expert' to make as being something of an old film fan myself, I know full well that 'special effects in film' have been around since the dawn of cinematic time! ... In fact from the very early period of experimental film making there are surviving clips which are littered with decent ghost and ghostly effects of various quality. ... And not to put too fine a point on it, i'm saying that all of this was achieved in the dark ages as compared to the century or so afterward when this offering was made. ... and so for me personally, though I do not rule out the possibility of the film actually portraying an authentic troop of ghost-soldiers going about their ghostly business ... the whole "can't be a specially arranged effect because of the low-tech-camera" doesn't fly at all mate. ... And then of course, there's the possibility that there were no 'effects' , 'ghosts' or anything at all supernatural about the film, and it could quite feasibly be a case of just a troop of fellow sightseers going about their own 'ghost-hunting-business' caught on film.
...Who knows? ... it's all great stuff, but as with the UFO thing , it's going to take a whole lot more than a bit of film-clip to be counted as presentable proof of anything. ... But keep em' coming matey... I love it!
Cheers Buddy.
