How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

The problem I have is with warm breath escaping over the top and fogging my glasses. I try and spend quite a bit of time moulding the wire over the nose to the shape of my face, but there is always some leakage. It is getting worse as the temperature outside is getting colder, as my glasses lenses are colder when first entering a building. Sometimes the sensation of the warm breath within the mask is also irritating.

True, I get that too.
I've started wearing my contacts more if I'm going to be out for longer.

I found if you push the tip of the mask a little higher than feels natural, it helps stop it. Makes you look rediculous on smaller masks though so need the larger sizes.

My friend who lives in Houston Texas called me on the phone earlier, he's a sous-chef in a restaurant and got exposed to Covid from a waitress who had the basic symptoms and sporadically wore a mask, waited four days before being tested with positive results...So my friend was sent home without pay and told to get tested before returning to work, if he also tests positive he must self isolate and the restaurant said they will not pay him for any missed time...

The restaurant management should have fired that waitress for being so irresponsible and they were also at fault for allowing her to take her mask off while working...My friend should also be paid for his missed time, this is no fault of his, he was exposed while working on the clock...ugh

I got real upset in a pet store this morning, they have a big sign on the door no entry without a mask and while I was in the back getting canned dog food all these people come in with no mask on and five had to come down the same aisle that I was in and two of them were coughing...I dropped everything out of my hands and on the floor and immediately walked out of the store, on my way out one of the people behind the counter asked me what was wrong so I told them it was bullshit and hypocritical to put a sign on the door that says no entry without a mask yet you let them come in without a mask and coughing nonetheless...

What would the restaurant management have told that waitress if she asked for time off because she suspected that she had Covid? If you provide no economic incentive for Covid sufferers to self-isolate while they miss out on wages then guess what? They will spread Covid.

That shit gets on my nerves too.
Masks should be mandatory. I'd go as far as to say medical exemptions should be broadly not allowed except in cases of mental disability. (With how easy it is to get some cheap card)
Amazon.co.uk : mask exemption card
Might not be realistic in more rural areas I guess.

So many videos of people screaming at the top of their lungs that they have an exception.

I don't usually get upset like that, but the coughing triggered me to snap lol...There isnt a pet store in my area, I have to drive 30 minutes through two counties to go to that store which is called Pet Supermarket...Upon leaving that place I drove another 20 minutes further into the city to Petsmart making my drive back home close to an hour...I think I'm going to start ordering his food online so it's one less place I have to physically go to and risk exposure...

Yep and that's a big problem, where I used to work they offered 32 hours paid time off only IF you test positive for Covid, many businesses like restaurants don't offer any kind of sick pay for Covid...

He texted me a few minutes ago and said his results were negative, so he can return to work immediately...

What the hell is lippy? b006 Does that mean it had lipstick on it?

When I got home from picking up pizza I saw one on the ground. It was in the plastic and had my arms not been full I probably would have checked it out. But it was raining so, it was probably all wet and muddy anyway, I didn't bother. :D

Yes it's local dialect for lipstick, it's origins are from the East side of London and on into Essex. It felt wrong gazing out from under it but I got my stuff and binned it right outside. It did smell nice aswell, coconutty with scarlet lippy is a result for anyone.

I'm surprised people are so against masks - they're pretty nice. They're pretty comfy, and it's starting to get cold now so it helps with that.
I think people are literally only against them because they're being told to wear one.

Try wearing one with glasses. Wearing a mask can cause your glasses to fog up, making it difficult or impossible to see and requiring you to wipe your glasses off or adjust your mask when you’re out and about.

I do wear glasses. I agree they're pretty annoying in that regard, but I've kind of got used to them now.
I found the KN95 masks work pretty well.

There's a plastic flexible bit along the top, shape that to your face and instead of going up the warm air will just come out the sides instead.

Pfizer, BioNTech say Covid vaccine is more than 90% effective—‘great day for science and humanity’

Pfizer, BioNTech say Covid vaccine is more than 90% effective—'great day for science and humanity'

Cheers.

If you read in the coronavirus main thread there are new Danish mink strains which could/will likely render these vaccine efforts null and void, causing them to start over...I wouldn't get too excited over this news and I personally have some reservations over these quickened vaccine efforts...

There's always that possibility if you are of a bent to look on the dark side of what is supposed to be a joyous announcement... personally I believe that until proven otherwise, this is the best news for a long time, and am allowing myself to bask in it for a while mate.

MINK MUTATED COVID-19
A mutated version of coronavirus caught from mink might render Pfizer's vaccine less effective than its touted 90 per cent figure.
Scientists believe the virus jumped from farm workers to mink in the summer before being passed back to humans.
As it crossed between species, a mutation occurred on its 'spike' protein, which it uses to enter human cells.
This mutation of the protein appears to make the strain more resistant to antibodies, disease-fighting proteins made and stored by the immune system.
Pfizer's jab trains the body to produce a wave of these antibodies by exposing it to a weakened version of Covid-19 that doesn't cause illness.
But if the new variant of Covid-19 becomes the prevailing strain then there are fears the vaccine could be less effective.
Ian Jones, a virologist from the University of Reading, told MailOnline the possibility of the mink strain being able to duck the body's antibody response was a 'formal possibility'.
He said: 'In theory, the mink form, which has mutations in the spike protein, could then evade the immune response generated to the vaccines currently in development and form Covid-19-2.
'There are a lot of reasons why this would not happen easily, but it is a formal possibility which is why the mass cull has taken place."
Everything you need to know about Pfizer's Covid vaccine breakthrough

Cheers Buddy.

I'm just looking at things more realistically, not being negative at all, I see this more as a premature announcement, there's a long way to go yet before this pandemic is behind us, we all must remain strong and stay united through it...

To many 'if ands and buts' for me with the 'potential' vaccines , its all about the money really . Some scientists say there may never be a vaccine for Covid 19. Anyway that's why there is no vaccine for the common cold if they made one the cold virus would mutate and the next cold season the vaccine wouldn't work. The results for this vaccine haven't been published yet and Boris Johnson said it is a long way off before definitive results are in. At the end of 2021 they can only produce 1.2 billion doses.
