How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

It is amazing how foul some of these plants that manufacture food stuffs can be. A few blocks from the candy building was a Mrs. Smiths pie bakery. It was shaped like a metallic Quonset hut. There was scorching heat coming off the metal and the place stunk of apples. How people worked there day in and day out was beyond me.

I don't know where I got the impression that you were an only child.

In a way I am, I have two younger brothers of same mother but different father and we are not close...I've had little involvement in their lives over the last 40 years and in recent times we talk about once a year normally, around the holidays before the age of covid...

I write today with a few updates about our league. The Executive Board has determined that we are officially cancelling the upcoming 2020/2021 MRD home season. It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement on behalf of the EB, but with the continued increase in the Covid-19 spread in our community, we do not believe we will be playing publicly for quite some time.

Roller Derby has brought out the best in them. I never thought I could be over and for now another fun thing is gone..

Oh okay, so you and I are the same in that sense. I have 2 brothers and a half sister, we share the same mother. My father was married to others but, they did not have any children together. Although both of his former wives had a boat load of children each before they met my dad. I think I have around 17 - 20 step brothers and sisters. I'm not in contact with any of them. Not even for holidays. I couldn't even send them a greeting card because I have no idea where any of them are.

When I was traveling in my younger years there was a large span of years my family and I had no contact, they had no idea where I was or even if I was still in the country which I did leave the country a few times lol...At one point when so many years went by they hired a private investigator to search for me and find me to see if I was alive lol...

Me and my girlfriend, D, had originally planned to visit my sister and her boyfriend on the Outer Banks in NC. Unfortunately, D's hip is getting worse so we opted not to go. She's still waiting to get a surgery date from her doctor. When I told my sis about this, she told me it was probably a good idea we weren't coming down for Thanksgiving anyway since they're talking about new restrictions on hotels and restaurant. If I am to be completely honest, I must admit I was relieved because I was not looking forward to the 3 hour drive and the holiday traffic. We've ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Kroger that we're going to pick up the day before. We have at least one friend who said he is going to come by for a while, which should be nice. I'm the type of low-key person who prefers a quiet get together at home. D is the type who like to travel and have an itinerary.

Cool, that means they care. Mine would not have bothered. I doubt they would have noticed if I left the country. lol

I used to be like D. Now I'm with you, low key. Plus then there is always plenty of leftovers for hot lunches and sandwiches. lol

The coronavirus is most likely to be spread during social contact within households. So, unfortunately, a festival like the US's Thanksgiving, involving people mingling in other people's households at the onset of winter, is likely to be a mass-spreading event. People seem more likely to let their guard down around family and friends, but just because someone is family or a close friend does not mean that they cannot give you the virus.

My mother and I were discussing this very thing recently and agreed there will be no gatherings this year for our family, she insisted and I could not talk her out of it, she is going to cook dinner and bring some over to me dropping off food at my house and then to my brother's houses...She isn't getting out of her car, she has an SUV so she pops the back open where the food will be, we talk at a distance outside and exchange food and go...I'm making dessert to exchange and giving her a bottle of wine she likes to drink on these occasions...

My brother is feeling much better lately, his fever has broke, he said he feels his energy starting to come back and he gets hungry again lol...Apparently he had no desire to eat at all for almost a week, he had to force himself to eat...

I drove in town this morning and got all my errands done, I don't have to leave the house for the rest of this week, unless I get low on propane...We have some cold days and nights this week, lows in the mid 20s, I've been burning propane for heat at night, the electric heat can't keep up as well when the temps drop below freezing and electric heat costs more to run than it does to run the propane heaters...

It took me 2 hours to dig my car and stall out of the snow last week and now it has happened again. I wish I knew someone that I could hire to do it. With my damaged heart, I worry that this could be the death of me. I used to hear about these 30 something guys having heart attacks all the time in the past just from shoveling their sidewalks. It really is a difficult chore.

I couldn't believe how many men from my building kept stopping me to chat but, not a single person offered to help. I offered one guy some money to help me and he said no.

Our Thanks Giving is a few weeks before the US one. The last holiday I remember getting cancelled was Easter. The rest have just slipped by unnoticed.

I saw that the beaches there were overloaded with people too. No social distancing on a crowded beach.

Pretty hard to stay away tho isn't it, when it gets so hot?

The police break them up where they can and send them all home. Its just that people don't like being locked up we had to stay home for 2 weeks that was bad enough we could only go out for food and toilet paper.

I've been doing this self isolation since I was deceived by my so called bff in 2015. I don't have a problem staying indoors now. I don't think I can ever really trust anyone ever again and to be honest, I'm getting to the point where I don't even want to go out shopping.

Today the City of New Orleans officially cancelled the 2021 Mardi Gras parade season. With the virus spiking to historic levels all across the nation, that's an easy decision to understand, but it's a devastating blow to the entire industry and everyone who makes their living creating the artwork for our huge parade audiences each year. If the worthless US government could've gotten all of us N95 respirators, and mandated their use in public for a few weeks, then this virus would've been contained months ago. Instead, this entire region has just been dealt a crushing economic blow because our annual tourism and parade season is the linchpin for the survival of hundreds and probably thousands of local businesses.

Not making light of it .... but secretly I'm overjoyed that Thanksgiving got squashed this year. Usually like the family dinners, they are very nice but this one is different for a variety of reasons beyond coronavirus - all of which I get a pass on !!!!
