Lately I've been preparing for a more worse case scenario with this god-awful pandemic, I think it's only a matter of time and likely a short time, before the highly contagious covid variants become more dominant in my area and in every part of the country spreading like wildfire...The vaccination program is running at a snails pace, there won't be any vaccines available to me until late Spring to early Summer at best guess, but when I get that first injection it's a month or so of a process to get both shots and for the drug to kick-in fully...Until then it's time I severely restrict my movements and contact with people, especially going inside stores like the grocer, so I'm limiting that to once every three weeks and go early in the morning on a day when traffic is minimal to reduce contact with others and exposure...
I'm stocking up a one month supply of dog food in case of a shortage and have been ordering that online now, and I've begun using the pick up service at the local grocer and also at walmart for my groceries...I set up online accounts and tomorrow I'm trying out both shop's pick up service to see how it goes...I pay everything online and drive to a parking area at a prearranged time and they load my order in the trunk of the car, I don't have to get out of my car...There's some meats and other cold items and perishables that I prefer to get myself to pick a good expiration date, that's when I'll go inside the store once every three weeks if iI need to and freeze some food if needed to make it last...
I'm making my own bread again so no need to buy the grocers breads, I have a pasta maker and have made my own pasta before too, I can do that again and may try that soon...I'm planning a larger garden of more variety this coming Spring and purchasing a food dehydrator for things like peppers and onions and purchasing more mason jars for canning vegetables to preserve them longer...I have enough propane storage now to last me two months before refilling, I use a combination of propane fueled heat and a heat pump, of the two types of heat, the propane heaters are cheaper to run than the heat pump...A full tank of gasoline in my car will get me about 358 miles before I need to fill up again, so driving once every 3 weeks will definitely save on fuel...I may drive to places to hike with my dog randomly but it will be places where humans aren't around and there are plenty of woods and places like that to hike in my area...I've been home most of the time lately, my work has been almost non-existent currently but that's fine, I'm in good shape across the board and ready for the coming storm, and it looks like this pandemic is shaping up to be one hell of a storm...
