He said that the general population should be able to get first Covid shot in February.

The health department in the small town near me is administering the covid vaccine to older people...Thats what I heard from my neighbor today...

Britain is changing its vaccine deployment strategy in the presence of the new Covid strain. Instead of giving people two doses three or four weeks apart (depending whether Pfizer or Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, respectively), the country is now prioritizing first doses, with the second dose to follow after twelve weeks. This is for the reason that about 80% effectiveness will be achieved after three weeks with the first dose alone. In the case of the Oxford vaccine, this is also thought possibly enough to keep nearly everyone out of hospital who has received it, even if they do catch the virus and develop symptoms (i.e. it will dramatically reduce disease severity in those who do catch it three weeks after having had the vaccine).

Giving the vaccines to as many different people as possible, prioritizing the first dose, is thought to be more effective at a population level than trying to give every recipient both doses within the minimum interval.

Get an antibody test performed, I think they need to draw blood for that one but it will show if you've had covid previously or not...I've thought about taking that test myself, my issue right now is that I don't have health insurance and haven't had it since June 2020 when I stopped working for someone...Since I'm self-employed once again I have workers compensation insurance and liability insurance coverage but no health insurance...I can pay out of pocket for some small things on the spot if needed and if not too expensive and I'm not sure what an antibody test would cost me...I think anyone who has had covid previously does not need to take the vaccine...

We have annual checkups coming up and I want to see if that can be included. This might be naive, but is the VA an option for you?

Thinking about health insurance makes my left eye twitch uncontrollably. It's like a monthly mortgage payment except when those end you own your house instead of a card in your wallet.

Yes but it's not very convenient, the closest VA hospital is almost an hour away by freeway, in an emergency I would first go to the county hospital which is 10 minutes away or the hospital clinic less than 5 minutes away...If I needed surgery or extended care now it would be the VA Hospital doing it, I have no choice there...

Public Health chief does not recommend mixing COVID-19 vaccines

After U.K. government guidance was updated this week to say the interchangeability of Covid-19 vaccines was a "reasonable" option, Public Health England’s Head of Immunisations Dr. Mary Ramsay said mixing Covid-19 vaccines is not recommended. “We do not recommend mixing the Covid-19 vaccines – if your first dose is the Pfizer vaccine you should not be given the AstraZeneca vaccine for your second dose and vice versa,” Ramsay said in a statement, according to The Daily Mail. “There may be extremely rare occasions where the same vaccine is not available, or where it is not known what vaccine the patient received. Every effort should be made to give them the same vaccine, but where this is not possible it is better to give a second dose of another vaccine than not at all,” she added. The updated U.K. guidance contradicts guidelines in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has noted that the authorized Covid-19 vaccines “are not interchangeable with each other or with other Covid-19 vaccine products,” and that “the safety and efficacy of a mixed-product series have not been evaluated. Both doses of the series should be completed with the same product.

Insurance in general. All that money for something you hope you never use. Just paid the home and auto insurance which reflect the state we live in - more than a couple grand out the window for that each year. Taxes here in NY mean this beat up old house costs $500+ per month just sitting here empty with no utilities. Then there is the health insurance - about half a new car per year. Or maybe a whole new car depending on what you want. And at that I still have to walk on eggs about what is and is not covered.

Pay pay pay and my reward is to be lectured at, threatened, have my tax $$ handed over to illegals and bloated government entities from the corner of the state that rules the rest, and I'm supposed to feel guilty about being 'privileged.' I guess busting my ass for years had nothing to do with any of that. We have to Escape from New York. Just thinking about it pisses me off.

‘Growing body of evidence’ shows COVID-19 leaked from Chinese lab: US official

U.S. National Security Adviser Matthew Pottinger is doubling down on the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese government-run lab in Wuhan. Pottinger, a staunch critic of Beijing, allegedly made the claim in a recent Zoom meeting with British officials.

“There is a growing body of evidence that the lab is likely the most credible source of the virus,” Pottinger reportedly said, according to the Daily Mail. The Trump appointee pushed the theory as the European Union made a new investment deal with China last week over protests from Pottinger and hesitance from the incoming Biden administration.

Pottinger, one of the first U.S. officials to raise alarms inside White House walls about the origins of the virus back in January 2020, has reportedly suspected since the early days of the outbreak that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab.

He ordered U.S. intelligence agencies to search for evidence that it had, the New York Times reported in April.

A Chinese virologist who said she did some of the earliest research on COVID-19 has publicly claimed COVID-19 was man-made, and that the Chinese government covered up its dangers. Western medical experts have discredited the theory.

The World Health Organization has been investigating the source of the virus since the first case was made public in January 2020. Patient Zero has not been found. Pottinger suggested in the recent call with British officials that the WHO probe is a ruse.

“MPs around the world have a moral role to play in exposing the WHO investigation as a Potemkin exercise,” Pottinger told the parliamentarians, referring to fake villages created in Crimea in the 18th Century to convince the visiting Russian Empress Catherine the Great that the region was in good health.

“Even establishment figures in Beijing have openly dismissed the wet market story,” Pottinger allegedly said, referring to another theory that the virus was transmitted from animals to humans inside a wildlife market in Wuhan where the first cluster of cases emerged.

Lovely news.

A couple of things I would like to mention and with any hope some might see the same as I do, as it is there if you look not in the right places but from the right place itself.

1.

It has been said here that the 1918 pandemic ripped through the world and is one of only two reasons why viruses leave us. Only a third of the world's population were infected a hundred years ago, no where near the numbers in order to give the herd immunity, something like seventy percent is expected to be the current requirement. So this can't be one of the two.

2.

With no vaccine for the Spanish outbreak there has to be a third addition. Number three is where it is at for me and our third wave I would hazard a wager will be in between one and two in terms of severity and the last one we have to number.

It must be a balance thing, it comes so quickly and changes constantly which is beyond fast and almost unearthly, money says the exit will follow suit.

A fair sized chunk of me dips into all of this as being a tactical biological act of terrorism carried out in the name of antifa and the affiliated. The global shift to the right has been interrupted and the iron was struck while hot as the perfect storm was looming. It all lined up perfectly and has had a huge political effect to the entire world, to a point of us now moving in the opposite direction. After world wars we act the same as a species and open up politically and this has had the same effect.

This is what the weed wants me to believe but I think I can see what's going on here.

I hope the soundtrack was about everybody kung flu fighting. It was a ghost town here in London and the old year is still on me as it hasn't been seen off or out, off feels a better fit.

I worked it as it was quiet on the roads and nice to not see the wet brainers and pukers as they become a health and safety issue.

COVID kills three every minute on America's deadliest day with 3,775 fatalities: Arizona, California and Rhode Island now have world's worst infection rates per capita as highly contagious Super-COVID hits seven states

The COVID-19 death toll in the United States has hit yet another record high with 3,775 fatalities reported in a day, which is the equivalent of 2.6 Americans dying every minute.

Daily deaths have now surged above the 3,700 mark three times within the past week. More than 357,000 Americans have now died of COVID-19 since the pandemic broke out.

Cases and hospitalizations also continue to surge with 131,195 patients being treated for the virus yesterday, which is an increase of more than 5,600 in just two days, and 229,055 new infections reported.

The number of people hospitalized nationwide has exceeded 100,000 for 35 days. As cases surges, Arizona, California and Rhode Island are currently seeing higher rates of infections per capita than any country in the world.

Arizona leads the nation with 827 new infections per 100,000 people in the week ended Tuesday, followed by California with 671 per 100,000 and Rhode Island with 666 per 100,000, according to a DailyMail.com analysis of data from the COVID Tracking Project.

By comparison, the country with the world's highest per capita infection rate, the Czech Republic, reported 653 new cases per 100,000 people in the same period.

Cases are currently rising in 47 US states and territories and the country faces a new threat from a mutant strain of coronavirus that has now been detected in at least 37 individuals across seven states, according to the CDC. The strain, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, is said to be up to 70 percent more transmissible than the original.

The majority of cases of the mutant strain have been reported in California, where the tally jumped from six on Sunday to 32 on Tuesday - less than a week after the first case was diagnosed in the state.

upload_2021-1-6_19-19-10.png

Cases, deaths and hospitalizations continue to surge amid the train wreck vaccine rollout across the country. Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Wednesday addressed the slow rollout and called on governors across the country to relax their guidelines in order to get more Americans vaccinated.

'We always knew this was going to be difficult... It is by no means as good as we would want it to be. I want the American people to keep this in perspective: (It's) the most difficult vaccine rollout in history, it's ramping up and you'll see things rapidly increase over the next couple of weeks,' he told ABC's Good Morning America.

'We're quickly ramping up. We're approaching 500,000 per day.'

One in 930 Americans have now died from COVID-19 and the seven-day rolling average for fatalities is now at just over 2,600 per day. Experts have predicted that January will far outpace December for fatalities, as the US continues to set records for hospitalizations and the effects of holiday activities come to fruition.

The health crisis continues to be especially dire in California, which reported 31,440 cases, 368 deaths and 22,485 hospitalizations on Monday. Nearly two-thirds of the Golden State's latest deaths came from Los Angeles County, where 224 were reported on Tuesday, bringing the total to date to 11,071.

Los Angeles County, the nation's largest with a quarter of California's 40 million residents, has seen a more than 1,000 percent spike in hospitalizations since early November, with 7,898 currently admitted.

Ambulance crews in the county have been advised to conserve oxygen and not to transport patients who have virtually no chance of survival to the hospital because resources need to be reserved for those with better prognoses.

Health officials are now calling the situation in Los Angeles a 'human disaster' as they warn the risk of getting COVID has never been higher.

'Everyone should keep in mind that community transmission rates are so high that you run the risk of an exposure whenever you leave your home,' Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said. 'Assume that this deadly invisible virus is everywhere, looking for a willing host.

'The anticipated surge from the winter holiday gatherings is done. And tens upon tens of thousands of people are paying the price with new COVID-19 infections. The increases in cases are likely to continue for weeks to come, as a result of holiday and and returning travelers.'

While the situation in California continues to spiral, Arizona is currently the worst affected state for cases per capita.

Cases, hospitalizations and deaths in Arizona have been surging since last month. In the last week alone, all three metrics have hit single-day highs amid the pandemic.

Arizona's hospitals have been stressed by the surge, with some stopping elective surgeries and turning away ambulance runs and hospital transfers while still accepting walk-in patients needing emergency care.

Meanwhile, deaths per capita are currently the worst in Kansas where an average of 1.7 deaths per 100,000 residents have been recorded, CDC data shows. Rhode Island follows with 1.5 deaths, Pennsylvania with 1.4 deaths and Indiana with 1.3 deaths.

COVID vaccines "might not" work as well on South African strain, scientists warn

As COVID is a RNA virus (which mutates more than DNA types) I hope the drug companies are working on a vaccine that does not target the crown protrusions (which are the part most likely to mutate).
Impossible to think the drug companies would be swayed by the possibility of making billions releasing a new vaccine every year but if say China produces a long term vaccine ..

Balancing the pros and cons of being vaccinated, the thought that if COVID mutated into something very nasty and the vaccine still gave protection might be a factor.
It would be ironic if in a few months, when most countries had vaccinated all the over 50s, the virus became something nasty which killed everyone else.
