I know his aunt is sick with the virus and he was looking at houses. Maybe he picked up some contract work. Probably just busy but I hope everything is OK

I had a sense of foreboding but I think it was for the inauguration.

Every now and again I go looking for it, averages thing.

Nice to see you up nivek.

Sorry for the ripple people, it's not like me but to be fair I haven't been anywhere near myself lately.

It's a trust thing.

I know he feels the need to visit nature from time to time so I'll go with that.

You know me all too well my friend lol, that's exactly where I was, deep in Cherokee country as far west as North Carolina can go west in a small cabin out of reach of technology and even my car lol...The cabin I rented was up a mountain that I couldn't drive to in my car, I had to be taken up the mountain and dropped off in a four wheel drive vehicle...From there just me and my dog, no electricity nor running water but it did have a wood stove for heat and a small propane stove to cook on...No phone signals, no computers, bliss...I just got back home less than an hour ago, a 4 1/2 hour drive from my house...

I remember from way back, Julia52 had said you had gone off the grid, I had no idea what it meant, only link I could make was a starting grid.

Glad to have been correct nivek and it is good to have a big change of scenery like that, I know how the reset feels myself with work and golf when allowed. I don't know if I could manage in such surroundings myself, one big dood and I'd be checking out every noise with eyes that feel wide open which in reality could be seen to appear closed. End up in a blurry bear fight.

Sort of cleansing and I know it from a big weekend on the course. Feels refreshing and gives that sense of looking forward to being back in all to familiar surroundings.

Good to know all is better than ok and more than a bit envious of the wilderness.

This time of year it's a bit too cold of weather in those mountains for venturing off too far away from the cabin lol, but we did hike a little here and there during the warmest part of the day...Still had some snow on the back side of the cabin in the shade where the sun doesn't shine and had plenty of wood to burn in the wood stove...They had some battery powered led lights inside the cabin but I used candles I brought with me instead, much more natural feel than a bright white led light...Had a nice view too although I didn't have my camera to take pics, I left my phone in my car which was parked about a mile away lol...

I've been venturing out early, travelling to a golf course and walking it while everything is asleep. Even that gave me the horrors and the worst thing that could happen here is a dog bite off one that got over the fence.

I'd have to go fishing, not that I fish but I know I would be drawn towards it as a survival instinct. I could kill a fish but not another animal on earth. I like it cold, bitter and bright best of all and a winter walk is much nicer than in summer. It's been freezing here and was out in the snow the one time I saw it, in the small hours so I couldn't really see it falling but no one out but me. I crunched as I walked and that was what I was after.

I was actually making reservations for two months from now, which I did do that too, but then the lady on the phone said a cabin was available this week if I wanted it...Quick thinking and a spur of the moment decision, I said Yes and I jumped on it, packed up and took off the same day lol...

I take water with me and blankets and food, pillow, clothes, all sorts of gear when I go camping in a tent, same with this last trip, took everything I needed with me...They supplied the propane for cooking and wood for the wood stove for heat...This was a one room cabin with a cot, a couple chairs and table and a small kitchen cabinet and counter next to the propane stove...I found a natural spring whilst out hiking on the second day, it was clean water I drank some but I didn't run out of water so I didn't need to fill up any jugs in the spring...

Fratty and out of touch.
It's fine to get out from time to time and get away from it all... as long as you don't decide to stay permanently and go all Ted Kaczynski on us.
