Hi guys, after watching a recent 'news' report on t.v in which the producers decided to scrape a bit more mileage out of that tired old 'Nessie Could Be Real' [but it is a titanically massive eel...or maybe tons of normal sized ones!] spiel … Loch Ness Monster scientists set to reveal 'plausible theory' | Metro News
… considered to be newsworthy by both the BBC and ITV [the two behemoths of British TV.] .. never mind the fact that all of this grand international scientifically produced DNA experiment managed to tentatively suggest that 'A 21 square mile Scottish Lake with a depth of 750 ft... probably contains fish'!
…. As you could probably guess, all of this 'slack-news-time' posturing that masquerades as genuine scientific research not only bores me, but also irritates me in as much as there are many more bigger and better [as in more mysterious] areas in the world of Forteana that cry out for serious attention, but somehow seem to be brushed aside or even derided by the media bosses .
To this end I thought that I would start a thread in which the good and brilliant members of this great site 'Alien Expanse' could suggest more deserving mysterious occurrences or even regions of the Earth for a bit of serious scientific examination that is well reported on by the major media outlets of the world than the same old Nessie story.

…. If anyone's interested, i'll kick it off by offering a region of the Earth that we rarely here of from the western media that has more fables, myths and real-life anomalies surrounding it than you can shake a stick at! …. and that is Lake Baikal.
We all know that Lake Baikal is famous for being the mightiest fresh water lake on Earth that contains about a fifth of the world's fresh water [Length: 395.19 mi Width: 49.09 mi Depth: 5,387 ft Surface area: 12,250 sq miles] … but less known is the fact that it has also been known for it's own serpents , chimeric shark-boys, giant sturgeons, aquatic dinosaurs, UFO's and possible bases, free swimming Aliens etc, and is even a well known 'Bermuda Triangle Type Area' in which many craft and crewmembers have mysteriously vanished never to be seen again, and even many cases of 'missing time' in which crews have disappeared for long periods of time and then been puzzled by the fuss because they swear that they've only been a short while!
…. In other words this relatively small region of the Earth in southern Siberia is absolutely littered with UFO reports, Water monsters and possible AA's or even time-slips and has been for as long as anyone knows... but [perhaps because of it's locality ] … we in the west hardly ever hear about any of it from our own media sources. … let alone spend any time and money on 'scientific research' to sort out the myth from the magic.

Cannock Chase in the county of Staffordshire (Uk) has more than its fair share of mysterious phenomena. From ufos to ghosts and Wildcats.Nick Redfern has done a plethora of articles on the area.

Here is a mysterious object/location in North Carolina, about a two hour drive from my house, the Judaculla rock in Sylia NC...The boulder is over 10,000 years old and the name originates from the Cherokee native Americans, they believed there was an ancient giant creature that dominated the mountains in that region...This creature is claimed to be a powerful slant-eyed giant with super human powers and could jump from mountain to mountain and it could control the wind, rain, thunder and lightning at will...The seven fingered hand print impression/carving is representative of this giant creature, archaeologists believe that the engravings on the stone were made around 2,000 BC...

Hi Ron, thanks for the response mate. I have been aware of the Cannock Chase area being a well known hotspot in all manor of paranormal activities for some time now, [it's only 80 miles or so from my own home ] so i'm glad you brought it up  …. and though I agree that the area has a high level of notoriety [paranormal-wise] I have to say that after consideration of many of the varied claims coming from the area over the years of genuine forteana that the claims for the many different anomalous sightings have different levels of believability for me personally. For instance I do not give much credence to the 'Slenderman, Little Green Men or Werewolf' claims , but on the other hand, the ' Ghosts and Big Cat sightings' are well within my capability for acceptance and [as you might guess] the plethora of UFO sightings interest me considerably. … And yes, I have read the blogs and articles by [local-boy] Nick Redfern and was particularly interested in the myth of the 'crashed UFO in 1964' … I say myth because of course there's just no evidence at all, not even much anecdotal evidence and witnesses are as rare as hen's teeth. So if it weren't for Nick's article in which he may have actually stumbled across a genuine bit of evidence [a scared witness and military whitewashing thereof] I too would probably consign the story to the bin …. but in light of Nick's article, I still keep an open mind on the case and hope that if there is anything to the tale, it will all come out in the wash, so to speak.

Hi Nivek hope you are well my friend.

Haven't heard of the Judaculla Rock before thanks for posting it. I did remember reading about a mysterious rock over in the states some while ago, and mistakenly thought that it was the one you posted. But after reading your links I realised that it wasn't the same one, and so with a quick search I found that it was in fact the 'Dighton Rock'.
Who Made the Petroglyphs on the Mysterious Dighton Rock?
…. not quite the same, but I thought interesting just the same.
Things like these make me realise that anything that was, ..and happened pre-civilisation ...or even just a few centuries ago are as mysterious to us as the remote cosmos beyond our reachable vicinity is! [and that's not very far at all] .. good stuff mate.

Cheers Buddy.

Very interesting! I had never heard of the Judaculla Rock until now. So much of the ancient North American History is unknown or forgotten. My grandparents used to own farmland near the Chesapeake Bay which they referred to as the "Bead Farm" because every time the field was tilled, beautiful indian beads would be unearthed.

Hi guys, ever heard of The Nevada Triangle before? ... well apparently - 2,000 Planes Mysteriously Crashed or Missing
Most of us have heard of the Bermuda Triangle, where planes and ships have mysteriously gone missing in the Atlantic Ocean for decades. Did you know there is a similar place in Nevada? The Nevada Triangle. In a region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Nevada and California, 2,000 planes have been lost in the last 60 years. In this remotely populated area of more than 25,000 miles of mountain desert, many of the crash sites have never been found.
Within this wilderness is the mysterious, top-secret Area 51. Along with the dozens of conspiracy theories which include UFOs and paranormal activity that surrounds the air force base, similar theories have long been considered regarding the Nevada Triangle.
Throughout the years, many of the missing planes were flown by experienced pilots and have disappeared under mysterious circumstances: and their wreckage never found.
The biggest mystery is: nobody really talks about it.
Let's find out why.

Cheers.
