I take water with me and blankets and food, pillow, clothes, all sorts of gear when I go camping in a tent, same with this last trip, took everything I needed with me...They supplied the propane for cooking and wood for the wood stove for heat...This was a one room cabin with a cot, a couple chairs and table and a small kitchen cabinet and counter next to the propane stove...I found a natural spring whilst out hiking on the second day, it was clean water I drank some but I didn't run out of water so I didn't need to fill up any jugs in the spring...
sounds great, i dont get to that as much i like nowadays, it reminds me of a place in Seminole co,Ok where there is a big rock cliff along the top of a ridgeline with trees all over, at the bottom in a green meadow is a puddle of water no bigger than a basketball, but the water is flowing. and was said to give you good health or something from the seminole native i knew and showed me it.

I've been venturing out early, travelling to a golf course and walking it while everything is asleep. Even that gave me the horrors and the worst thing that could happen here is a dog bite off one that got over the fence.

I'd have to go fishing, not that I fish but I know I would be drawn towards it as a survival instinct. I could kill a fish but not another animal on earth. I like it cold, bitter and bright best of all and a winter walk is much nicer than in summer. It's been freezing here and was out in the snow the one time I saw it, in the small hours so I couldn't really see it falling but no one out but me. I crunched as I walked and that was what I was after.

We went to a big federal park yesterday with the pooch. We were down on the Hudson River and it was snowing a little. Definitely brisk but the dog loves it even though she's running around naked. Brrrr. I'd be willing to trade that for a nice hot day about now.

I'm sorry to hear this, Coubob. It's very sad that your granddaughter was the one who found her. My gf just had a complete hip replacement. She is 57, like me. It's unusual for someone that age to need a hip or knee replacement but it happens a lot more often than you would think. They've come a long way with joint replacements. It's only been 2 weeks since the surgery and she is already able to walk around the house.

All we can do is try to take care of ourselves and appreciate how precious our health is.

I woke up today to shouts and happy kids as 5 more inches of snow had fallen.
I looked out my window.
Ian was shoveling the driveway.
Chris was pulling his little sister around in her snow saucer.
But over in the snow fort Rikki and the twins were making piles of snowballs for my exit.
Well they forget we have a back door. They forget I recall the last snowball ambush.
It's on..

I've been cooking and baking all morning, started early with homemade bread using oat and wheat flour followed by a no bake cheese cake and lastly a pot of chicken stew with dumplings...

Wow, comfort food. We got a bread maker for Christmas. Yesterday I made a loaf, but used
honey instead of sugar. Really really good. But I believe it has a hole in it, because it
did not last that long. We bought a meat grinder that is hand cranked. And we put
uncooked corn in it - run it through three times, with the grandkids doing some of the
cranking, and make our own grits, which are not for sale here. Love the dumplings idea.

I haven't used a bread maker before, is it easy?...I do it the old fashioned way which is actually easy too lol...I have a pasta maker I haven't used in years and have been thinking about making some homemade pasta again...That might be the plan next week hehe...

You can make pizza dough, sweet or salty bread, and some deserts in the bread machine.
You put 1 1/2 cups of water, 2 teaspoons of salt, three table spoons of sugar, one tablespoon
of yeast, 4 table spoons of vegetable oil, and three and a half cups of flour in the bread
container. You set it in the machine, set it for bread, dark crust, and 2 1/2 pounds weight,
hit the button. Then you come back in three hours and five minutes. When you turn it upside
down the bread falls out - no muss, no fuss, and nothing else to do besides that. They had them
on sale here for $100 bucks so I got one. I make bread about twice a week, and it lasts
three days for two people (using it for breakfast). Or if the kids are around, the hot bread
lasts about 15 minutes.

8 more inches of snow! The kids can't wait to get out side after school.
The boys are plotting vengeance from the last snowball ambush. And I'm getting the snowblower and shovels out..

They are switching on the wireless hardware to sync with vaccination chips...lol..a nut job was telling me today and I went along with it because it seemed he needed to educate me.

Three sheets to the wind.

It would be nice if we could blame it on substance abuse, but stupidity is home grown and boundless.

Anyone notice many websites running slow?

I haven't been home nor online all morning to notice...Is everything back to normal now?...I was in the city getting some minor work done on my car, oil change, replaced a O2 sensor and a vehicle inspection because my tags are due for renewal next month...
