Sorry for my last post - the alarming one. I'm just a conservative old crank, and sometimes things occur to me about the future economy, and I just can't help but post them. Probably nothing will change, and I wish you and yours the best in their careers.

You are good my friend I understand the sediment.

I don't envy young people trying to establish themselves in this environment, although I suppose each generation has its challenges.

My great-nephew will be 17 shortly and for him high school just sort of petered out. He was an average student to begin with the disruption from covid means he'll have to be held down at some point and have an equivalency degree beaten into him. From what I understand the bar is not set that high and the most minimal involvement will allow a student to pass, which makes me question the value of the degree in the first place. He sees it for the BS it is and would rather go to work. I suspect he'll wind up in a trade school and the good news is he's not afraid to work. Even started a few entrepreneurial adventures with t-shirts, etc. But he's got to check box high school box first.

At one time an Associate's degree was perfectly acceptable. Now it's either an A.A.S for a technical cert to operate medical equipment, that type of thing, or off to a Bachelor's program. Half the time just having a degree is required to check off a required box - which means that degrees in medieval poetry are actually useful for something.

I have three nieces and three nephews. All of them are college educated and beyond. Two of them are doctors, one is a lawyer, one a banker, one works with mentally troubled children and one is in business. I am so glad that they didn’t have the struggles I went through. I think about all time I wasted until I finally got a decent position working for Verizon.

It’s nice not waking up in the morning and worrying about paying your bills and affording certain comforts.

It's below zero or close to it and dry as hell. My cure for fingertip splits is Krazy Glue. Sort of ruins the Touch ID but solves the ouch instantly.

My wife uses a product called Liquid Skin or Liquid Bandage for when she gets cracks on her fingers. She says it works well.

I woke up to ice this morning with snow mixed in, started out as freezing rain last night...I've been running the propane heat all night in the house keeping the i door temp about 70 degrees, feels warmer because of the humidity...Since last winter I've been running humidifiers in the house keeping the indoor humidity at about 50% on average, makes a world of difference in the house...Propane heat doesn't zap the humidity as bad as electric heat or wood burning heat does but still it has an effect...

Lately I've been looking to buy a small wood stove for my workshop, I need to buy another source of heat for that building, something dedicated to that space...Right now I have one propane heater out there but it isn't enough and I really like wood burning heat, it's more work to maintain and use but it gives off so much more satisfying heat in my opinion...

8. More inches of snow! Ian and I are busy clearing.

We had so much snow this year the welcome sign to our complex is buried.

It was cold for here yesterday. I had to wear a jacket. I guess it was about 40 F.

Anyway, today is absolutely beautiful. Sunny, light clouds, blue skies, about 70-75 degrees. Time to
go out and fix the brakes on my old Ford Ranger. Ah, spring.

I have three of these gauge sets hanging around the house, my bedroom, living room, and kitchen, this one below is in my bedroom and is also the current conditions of the atmosphere in that room...At night the temperature will drop to about 60 degrees usually and the humidity will rise to almost 60% because I turn off the heat to that room at night, I like to sleep in a cooler room and use blankets lol...I maintain a similar humidity and temperature in the rest of the house on average...It takes two small floor standing humidifiers to cover the entire house except my bedroom, in my bedroom I have a small tabletop style humidifier, between those three they balance the humidity well enough...

I had a giant iron teapot looking thing on top of my first stove that I'd fill with water just to let it boil off. In a relatively small space that'll do in place of a humidifier.

The last house I had 10 years ago had a heat pump but also a fireplace with an insert wood stove and I used that wood stove more than the heat pump to heat the house...On top of it I always had a pot of water to add humidity back in the air, in hindsight I wished I never sold the place and moved, I liked that house...

Problems with my central heat, the blower motor is not starting up, the cap is making a humming sound, the motor spins freely and don`t seem to have bearing issues. a heat and air guy is going to be here today. good thing i have a backup heat

If you have a wood stove and you want some pleasant smells for the house - throw some pork ribs it - while they are cooking you won't even mind the smoke.

The house had one when we first bought it, but due to her asma and copd we cant have a wood burning stove or fireplace, the infrared is ok for her , but the blueflame models really bothers her,Badly more than the stove or fireplace.

I drove to the city this morning, still here but heading back home soon...Surprisingly very little traffic out this morning...

I can certainly say I hate winter! We probably got 10 inches of snow since late yesterday. I have a good size snowblower but it can’t handle that type of accumulation. Punxsutawney Phil says more winter. Grrrrr.

$175 to change the cspasitor on the blower.

I made it home hours later than I planned but that's because I took the long way home through the farmland and woods instead of the highway, the scenic route lol...

Usually that's the component which fails in heating systems...Last year my mom's heating went out and it turned out to be a capacitor blown, I think she paid about 150 or so...
