Ukraine , Chernobyl and the possible UFO connection.

Hi guys, just wondered about your thoughts and if you had any more information about this 'unlikely proposition' that i've been studying for a couple of days?
..And it's about a claim that is well known and 'accepted as being fact' by lot's of eastern European commentators. Personally I find the whole concept of this thing being a reality, a bit dodgy to say the least. ... But if there is any tangibility at all to the 'spectacular claims' reported by the witnesses [ at least 'some' of which seem to be of respectable character ]... Then this story is as big as it gets in the world of ufology, .. and yet seemingly overlooked right here in the west?.. But as I said, because of the remoteness of the location and the fact that I always find information from certain parts of the world 'a little sketchily-dubious'. ... nonetheless I find the remote possibilities intriguing.
And the claim is that Ukraine has been a pretty relatively barren source in relation to historical UFO reports [one source claims that there has only been four reports on record before the year 1986] … but then exactly five minutes into the day of Saturday 26 April 1986, mistakes made by highly paid and respected scientists at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian dropped one of the biggest clangers in the history of human cock-ups, and started in motion an unstoppable event involving materials that was practically 'a 180 tonnes nuclear bomb' that 'by all rights should have completely destroyed half of Europe and devastated the rest of the planet for the foreseeable future'. [making Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like a tiny firework display] … But by means of the bravery and heroism of scores of 'emergency heroes' , good luck and the ultimate sacrifice made by so many the dystopian future that threatened mankind was felicitously averted.
…. But then in a 1992 publication, 'UFO'S - Guests From The Future' by V. Kratokhvil … top Russian mathematician Mikhail Varitsky, a senior dosimetrician with the Dosimetry Control Department, alleged that "on the night of the Chernobyl disaster, he and many others had observed a UFO above Reactor 4." … and went on to say " “We saw a ball of fire, and it was slowly flying in the sky. I think the ball was six or eight meters in diameter. Then we saw two rays of crimson light stretching towards the fourth unit. The object was some 300 meters from the reactor. The event lasted for about three minutes. The lights of the object went out and it flew away in the north-western direction.” … "the radiation levels coming from the reactor dropped from 3000 to 800 milli-roentgen per hour in that time," … "The UFO brought the radiation level down. The level was decreased almost four times. This probably prevented a nuclear blast".

... and then that caused such a sensation that it started a slew of related reports some of them dating from before Varitski's article, and lots of claims afterwards from people as varied as Doctors, atomic scientist's, pilots, RADAR operators , journalists etc. working in that area of the Ukraine, some of which that can be found in this link ... Roadside Picnics: Chernobyl UFOs & The Falcon Lake Incident ...

... Well!, I don't know what you guys think of this story, ... I will agree with anyone that says that this smacks of 'one of those stories that is too big to be true' ... and 'how come it's not the biggest story in the world?" ... but imho, it's probably not as cut and dried as the articles would have us believe, ... but from following the likes of Robert Hastings and his brilliantly compelling research into the very credible genre of UFO and Nukes aspect of ufology, then i'm not ready to completely write the whole thing off a 'fantasy' ... just yet.

Cheers.

I can buy it, given how UFOs have shown so much interest in nuclear weapons bases over the years. They have certainly shown that they can make nuclear missiles go offline. At Rendlesham, witnesses did report beams of light coming out of UFOs and into the ground. Maybe this was a drill for radiation control actions that they would take 5 years later in Ukraine? UFOs were also reported after the Fukushima Daiichi incident.
