The State of Ufology

In a similar vein, this gets me upset. When a so called UFO “expert” says that he or she was told inside secret information about UFOs or Aliens. These same people then state, sorry we can’t tell you anything. We were sworn to secrecy. It’s all bullshit as far as I am concerned. Many of these people also speak about disclosure. There won’t be any disclosure if you are sitting on the information. Richard Dolan is a good one for pulling this kind of nonsense.

All sounds like shades of Ray Santilli , Stan Romanek and silly Billy Meiers et al.

In many respects ufology is practically a hobby. Is there any reason hobbies are expected to be "inclusive"?

Of course, a business component also exists within ufology. But is there any bar to minorities or women getting into the the ufology business? I think not.

Did the Pentagon just admit to having UFO Debris?
First post on this thread... the state of ufology is indeed a cogent question when one considers the lack of 'real momentum' in the quest for unquestionable education on this subject. In the whole I have to say that during my long interest in the UFO/ETH , that I have had a few genuine moments of excitement and expectations of impending clarity, only to be quickly dashed by the revelation that the prospective 'smoking-gun' was in fact either wishful-fantasy or just another publicity stunt by someone wishing to profit from false promises to the eager recipients! In fact as far as I can see, the immediate future of Ufology is somewhat poignantly similar to it's past. … ie, I cannot countenance the 'officialdom' ever doing the proverbial 'about-turn' and tipping anything tangible over to the general public. … But time and time again we have to endure all of this scurrilously tedious fantasy that 'The Secret Keepers' have finally decided to "come clean" …and the chosen the modern way is to evoke the term FOIA instead of the well trodden via whistleblower route!
… Even today I wake up to see that an old internet friend of mine, Tony Bragalia is at it [again] with his latest statement of mind-blowing-revelation that the dark-government have confessed that they do in fact have 'extraterrestrial-material' in their possession , and it's not hard to see that Tony is inferring that it is the 'memory-foil from the Roswell crash'! … here is the headlines... Pentagon admits to carrying out tests on futuristic 'UFO debris', expert says
… And then, we have an immediate rebuke of this claim by John Greenwald [FOIA chief expert] ….
… which makes it clear that good old Anthony's latest sensation is in fact 'just another storm in a teacup' and nothing at all really!
...And yes, sadly I believe that this is a perfect example of "The State Of Ufology Today" … nothing has changed,... just headlines and swamp gas!
….. But I can't help but to stick with it , hoping that i'll see the day when either our 'neighbours' intentionally or accidentally announce themselves to the degree that it can't be denied by anyone, no matter how skilled and covertly powerful they are.

Cheers.

Only revelation I see coming is when our visitors...or one of them decides to make themselves know worldwide.
When that may be is anybody's guess.
My guess is it will occur after an apocalyptic event.
Many stories have been told by the UFO occupants that this will be so.

We all know the government is hiding things when it comes to UFOs..What all of us or at least some of us don't know is that the government is not obligated to tell us anything! And they can get out of it simply by using the word "classified!"

There are no UFO experts and anyone who says they are, are full of it!

Thought there was some very interesting reading below from Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos on released Government UFO documentation with timeline graph charting the various declassification status of different countries:

File:

State-of-the-Art in UFO Disclosure Worldwide - Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos (pdf)

Description:

The present edition of the FOTOCAT Project’s Blog is to announce the publication of the paper STATE-OF-THE-ART IN UFO DISCLOSURE WORLDWIDE, by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos.

This is the first synthesis or synopsis ever done of the status of declassification or release of official UFO archives by every Government in the world, accurately updated to May 2009.

In this context by “UFO disclosure” I mean the revelation, declassification or release of official UFO reports from governmental files, placed in the public domain either directly or via the news media, researchers, and UFO organizations.

It is true that the term “disclosure” has been lately associated to a certain movement which is not really grounded in reality, but I want to reclaim possession of this word for use in rational discourse.

With the publication of this essay, I plan to achieve several objectives; firstly, I would like to provide a compilation of historical data that illuminates a generally obscure subject. Then, I hope it will generate feedback to expand this table and improve its accuracy. Also, government officials may be inspired to commence similar release processes in their countries.

Finally, I wish to share with you the kind words that Dr. Jacques Vallee has written to preface the announcement of the release of the present paper:

The field of aerial phenomena research has long been plagued by half-truths and poor information. The media have contributed to this misinformation either by ignoring important facts or by trumpeting the "release of secret files" that were never secret in the first place.

It is refreshing to see a complete statement of the state of official information on an international scale. This is a "work in progress," since many files that remain in the custody of military authorities in major countries have yet to be brought to light, but Sr. Ballester-Olmos has patiently assembled a document that provides an important baseline for future research
.

Also a nice presentation on official investigations from different countries and more here on organisations such as CRIDOVNI, GEIPAN, CEFAA, OIFAA, Setka MO etc..

They ( the Governments ) have to much to lose if they tell us all the truth.

Yeah, but couldn't the "others" reveal themselves on a wide scale, unilaterally?
What might they have to lose that inhibits them from doing so?

Sadly, I have to agree with those who say nothing has changed in the field of ufology. The biggest problem it faces is still the fact that people are conditioned to laugh at or ridicule any speculation made.

If one announces, for instance, "I believe one day there will be cures or effective treatments for all forms of cancer", rather than laugh, most will respond with a polite and obliging nod of agreement. Even with all the medical shysters and snake oil salesmen out there, most are firm in their belief that human ingenuity will one day conquer cancer.

Other fields of study are treated with at least a minimal level of respect and reverence, yet, for some reason, ufology is unworthy of serious attention.

When people start claiming some mysterious all knowing cosmic trickster is behind all the ufos and presenting them to trick us and make fools of us that's when I have to laugh...Those type of people refuse to accept a nuts and bolts ufo space craft but embrace a Loki type being pulling all the ufo strings...Might as well believe in a flat earth and no moon landings while they're at it...

In hindsight, comparing ufology to medical research is probably a bit of a reach! Not the best analogy I could have come up with.

That was likely one of the more extreme and far out there type of ufo belief, the cosmic trickster idea, but became quite popular and maybe it still is, I don't know lol...

What sort of explanations would the world’s governments give since 1947 by not telling us why they were holding back information? You couldn’t handle the truth?? What makes those governments think they could handle any truths?

For me it comes down to the entities behind these craft. If they really wanted us to know why they are here and what their agenda is, they would tell us. They show no inclination to inform us thus far. I can’t really blame them. If you look at the state of affairs around the world, I would keep quiet as well.

Maybe one day we will be enlightened enough to handle the reasoning for other races to be here on Earth.
