That sounds typical. People have psychological hang-ups with their stuff especially when they have to down-size.

Yeah he called me today wanting more help, taking all the boxes and small stuff to his new place...I agreed and when I arrived he again didn't have everything as ready as he implied, so again this got dragged out all afternoon...lol

Been sleep deprived the past two days and just woke up feeling like Rip van Winkle.

You can do a lot with a 5" random orbit sander and a big box full of cheapo pads. Yesterday I worked over a about 460 square feet of three decks yesterday with 40 grit and then pressure washed the bejeezus out of them a second time. Only get a few hours in the morning to put on the stain before the sun hits it too hard. Full day just to do the railings and spindles and stairs. Mindless, a good time to put on a bunch of podcasts and stick a small speaker in the kitchen window.

Again with the power outages?...This makes the 5th time in seven days that we've lost power...Yeah we've got a storm going on right now but we've had worse and the power never went out so much as it has recently...This time it happened right in the middle of me transferring a bunch of files from a desktop computer to my remote server through FTP connection...This particular computer isn't on battery back-up and shut off instantly when the power died...ugh

The rain is really coming down hard now, hope it doesn't wash out the seeds I've planted in the garden...

Looks like the power is going to be out for a while, I saw a Duke Energy truck go down my road and back up, then another one driving down the crossroad like they're looking for something...

Might have to migrate to my workshop later on if I want power, my solar batteries in there are fully charged...

Kobi is all freaked out and has been hiding under the bent wood chair I'm sitting in...Between the power going out which scares him every time and the thunder and lightning and heavy rain which also scares him, he might be thinking the world is coming to an end lol...He's pretty scared right now, tremblinging like a leaf, he's shaking the chair...

It's actually kind of dark in the house with the heavy dark cloud cover and pouring rain...I've got candles lit where needed, I have a lot of candles stored away for emergencies and whatnot lol...

Spring training for the south side sluggers! This is the closest I could get due to covid guidelines. Tonic for my cooped up oldest son.

I recently met the lineman that's responsible for this area. Nice guy. Told me two other lineman and several members of management live in the neighborhood. No wonder things get fixed so fast !

When my dad worked for the electric company we got the same service in our neighborhood. He knew who to call.

I want to get a different phone, I have a Samsung A11, not an expensive phone, I won't spend a thousand dollars on a phone even of its low monthly payments...My laptop was five hundred dollars, my tablet was five hundred dollars, that's also the limit on a smart phone...Anyway its been a bit slow lately not all the time but if I had to guess about 30 percent of the time, it delays opening some apps, delays opening from fingerprint scan, and a few other minor gripes I have with it, first world issues lol...My last phone never did these things so I'm thinking of getting the next grade or two up smart phone that Samsung has to offer...

It seems the phones are going with sealed batteries now, my last phone had a back panel I could take off and access the battery...I can't do that with my current phone and the phones I looked at online look like sealed batteries too...

Non removable batteries and adding memory is one of the things I dislike about Apple phones. I was an Android user for many years. My wife changed to the IPhone so I decided to change as well. It sounds strange but I found the Android phones easier to use. After having an IPhone for the past three years, I wonder what all the fuss is about.

Have you done a hard boot on it? Sometimes that fixes the problem, but if your phone is more than 3 years old it will only get worse, that is the way they are designed. Even iPhones are designed that way now. I had an old iPhone 5 that worked fine for 6 or so years but when my daughter upgraded she gave me her iPhone 8 and that was 2 years ago. It is starting to do what you describe and I just hard boot it and then it is fine for a few weeks. The game is to get everyone to upgrade often. Another thing that "goes bad" is the battery. Mine is not holding a charge like it used to. I am not ready to upgrade and I will not buy any Samsung product so I will save up and get a new iPhone next year.

I hope you find a good phone in your price range.

I will never use an IPhone with Apple's intrusive software and overpriced hardware phones...Samsung makes good phones but many are overpriced too but the software being Linux based (Android) is much preferred for me since I've always favoured Linux software over Windows or Apple...

My phone is a few months old, yes of course reboots and restarts of the hard and soft ways were already attempted, it's just that I was cheap and bought a cheap phone to save a few bucks lol (get what you pay for)...I like Samsung brand phones, never had issue with them before, however I'm looking at purchasing a Samsung phone that doesn't have any Google crap preinstalled and doesn't run Google at all...About 425 dollars for the phone I'm looking at buying...

I thought Apple uses Linux. I like Apple and maybe it is because I am old. My friend used to be a Samsung rep and she constantly had problems with her phones, and she always had the newest model because that is what she was selling. Also, other Samsung appliances are iffy at best, too many recalls and weird problems.

I agree with you about Google that is the most invasive company we have. I don't know what invasive software you are talking about that is any different than anything that has a google app on it. I don't use google on my iPhone. But as it stands now any one with a smart phone can be tracked, monitored, etc. no matter what brand it is.

I think the only privacy protection we have - because we don't really anymore - is being lost in the masses. Generally, nothing human is paying any particular attention to your activities and then is only for specific purposes.

There's an old episode of Happy Days where Richie Cunningham tells him Mom she doesn't have to say 't.p' because it's OK to say 'toilet paper' on the phone. Still is - nobody's listening. If something is all it cares about is what brand you use.

Nope Apple is Apple or Macintosh, Android is Linux, I also use a version of Linux for my home servers and another version for a partition on my laptop and yet another version of Linux for my desktop computer...Apple has intrusive software it uses just like Google, even worse in some cases on those Iphones...

I have a Samsung TV, Samsung tablet, and Samsung phone, never any troubles from any of those devices...

Phew, long day today doing roof repairs by myself (my help was a no-show)...I have a back room that was added on to the house many years ago before my time here and it's roof was leaking from a spot where there used to be a satellite dish bolted down...Should be all good now, I'll know when it rains next week lol...

I have a Samsung TV, Samsung tablet, and Samsung phone,

My laptop is Toshiba, I've only owned two laptops since laptops have been around, the one I have currently and a previous one that died one day, both Toshiba laptops...The first one I got used, I traded a PlayStation 3 for it lol...The laptop I have currently I bought new with Windows 8 which I promptly deleted and installed Windows 7 on a partition and Slackware Linux on the other partition, both sharing the same drive...I still have that hard drive but since then I've set up another hard drive with Windows 10 on a partition and Windows XP on the other partition...I needed XP for some PLC software that does not run very well on other versions of Windows...

I don't have the patience for any Microsoft OS. I have to use it at work and we are on Microsoft networks and the security is a night mare. I did have an HP desktop that I bought and hated, though I used it for almost 4 years. HP is the worst hardware wise, no consistency, but that is what I could afford at the time. One job I had the nurses agreed to participate in some study with a pharmaceutical company and they were given HP desktops to log their data. I was not supposed to have to touch those machines but all 3 of them had faulty hard drives and the HP guys claimed they couldn't figure out what the problem was. Once I identified they replaced the hard drives with the same crappy brand but forgot to flash them (some kind of thing because of proprietary software) so they still didn't work. Once they did work again 2 of them lasted a week before they failed.

Anyway. I bought my first Macbook in 2009 and that machine still works, slow and that is all. I did recently get a new MacBook and the only thing I need to make it perfect is to find a mouse. Apple wants 99.00 for a damn mouse. I know Apple is not what it once was but it is still easier and more robust than any microsoft OS. I have sometimes thought about building a computer and putting Linux OS on it. But, time. Maybe when I retire.
