What about the 3rd choice. If we could make sure there are always more choices than the big two, we have a chance at changing things.

There are only 4...Independents in Congress...and no third party president since Fillmore in 1850.
Just saying....:unsure8:

Yes....everyone thinks their point of view is the correct one...right..? and if someone doesn 't agree then they just don't get it....opinions are like..., well you know that one...
as you said carry on. q37

I didn't say the point I was trying to convey was correct, there are understandings that go beyond a right or wrong viewpoint and I was attempting to get you to expand your understanding a bit and at least try to understand someone outside the party line propaganda that you follow or that your opposing party follows...It seems you think if someone speaks out against a Democrat president or congressman that they are automatically right-wing which is ignorant and erroneous...There are more independent voters such as me and independent views such as what I original tried to explain, that have no party affiliation attached...Those independent voters have no one supporting them, they are always hammered by the left or right to vote their way...To think the entire population of this country is either left or right leaning is like saying the Republican party is a party of racists and the Democratic party is a party of communists, both have no truth nor basis in reality...

So why do you bother voting at all if that is what you think?

What about the 3rd choice. If we could make sure there are always more choices than the big two, we have a chance at changing things.

Sometimes even the 3rd choice is not really a good one, there's been many voting cycles I did not vote at all because none of the options were worth supporting by a vote...

I agree that even a 3rd choice isn't a good choice but in order to have those choices we have to vote for them. There are places where 3rd party (whether independent, libertarian, whatever) are shut out by the two headed dragon (The Party(s)). We need to find a way to stop them from doing that because often neither of those two parties represents the people, not even a majority of people. If we had ranked choice voting it would go a long way to remedying the broken system that allows money to count more than people.

ok. I went to CNN.com and typed in the several different search terms and got nothing.

Try to google it using the acronym "CNN" with your other text in the google search instead of using CNN's search engine...

Maybe you are using a bad browser......;)
Try this.....CNN- whistleblowers told not to report immigrant covid 19 cases
I use DuckDuckGo. I think Google is a bad browser because it only gives you what it thinks you want to see. I think my mistake was going to CNN.com and trying to use their search engine

I use duckduckgo as well, google is getting to be extremely biased and I don't mean just politically...Even in fringe topics google buries search results they don't think you need to see...The algorithms they use are a big problem...

That's interesting. I have never had that problem finding what I need using Google...can you give me a concrete example?
I have heard people saying that but it's not happened to me.

When I was working in Texas in 2009 I had to google something for work but it would not come up so I had to have a co-worker find the link and email me. He didn't believe that google would do that so I showed him. It was an eye opener to how tight they had the search results based on previous searches even then.

As CDC reverses its mask guidance, Apple, Costco, Walmart and others have some soul searching to do

(Excerpt)

On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that Apple plans to require both employees and staff to wear masks from July 29 at more than half of its 270 U.S. retail stores, citing the following company memo:

“After carefully reviewing the latest CDC recommendations, and analyzing the health and safety data for your local area, we are updating our guidance on face masks for your store.” (Apple did not respond to a request for comment.)

Wearing masks indoors at retailers, gyms and other outlets would not only protect other customers, it would protect employees, according to the United Food and Commercial Workers labor union, which represents 1.3 million food and retail workers, including pharmacy technicians and grocery-store employees.

“A national mask mandate is the only way we can finally take control of this virus and every retail CEO in the country must recognize that now is the time for all of us to mask up so we can keep our economy open and communities safe,” the union said in a statement released this week, according to Reuters.

Will other retailers follow suit?

Businesses can require patrons to wear masks even if they’re vaccinated. Walmart and Costco, among other large retail chains, dropped mask wearing for vaccinated shoppers after the CDC issued its mask guidance in May. The companies were not immediately available for comment on whether they were updating their mask policies.

A July 26 update to Costco’s COVID-19 website, however, said its locations “will follow the face mask regulations of the applicable state and local jurisdictions.” A Walmart spokesperson told CNN on Wednesday that the company had followed CDC guidance during the pandemic, adding, “This one is a little more complicated due to county-by-county discretion, but expect to hear more from us soon.”

Ultimately, state and local governments don’t have to adopt the CDC’s recommendations, but Mark Cohen, the former CEO of Sears Canada Inc., believes all businesses should do just that. If he were still the head of a retailer, he added, he “would insist on vaccination and masks for all employees and masks for all customers,” he said. (The company did not respond to a request for comment.)

Fully Vaccinated People Accounted for 74% of Infections in Massachusetts COVID Outbreak

Nearly three-fourths of the infections in a recent Massachusetts COVID-19 outbreak were breakthrough cases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a study on Friday that found 346 of the 469 reported coronavirus infections occurred in people who were fully vaccinated. The outbreak happened between July 3–17 in Barnstable County as large summer gatherings took place in Provincetown.

Of the breakthrough cases, 274 were symptomatic, while just four people were hospitalized. One other infected who had not been vaccinated was also hospitalized.

Testing found that 90% of specimens from 133 patients contained the Delta variant. The most common side effects were cough, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, and fever. No deaths were reported.
