Prepping For Rain

Here in South Central PA we are supposed to get between 5 - 8 inches of rain beginning Wednesday 9/1 from Hurricane Ida. We gassed up the car and got groceries today. We are approaching this rain storm as if we were getting a major snow storm.

Agreed. Not to worried really but I did get extra fuel for the generator. Got beer and toilet paper. Yup, all set.

The storm front is camped out over our location. The worst of it will be between 4-7 pm this evening. Right now it is coming down steadily. No thunderstorms as of yet. Luckily we cut the grass yesterday.

Well the rain is over and we have blue skies again. The weather report said we received almost 8 inches of rain. Somehow all this water drained in from the garage and into the wash room. It took damn near every towel we had to staunch the water. We survived nonetheless.

We came through with zero problems (I bought a house on the right part of the hill for these types of things)

There are a few pretty big new surprise ponds around here with people's belongings floating in them. Metro North has had the Hudson line totally shut down since yesterday and will be again today due to all the flooding and downed trees on the tracks.

That storm went around us almost 100 percent, we didn't get any heavy winds and maybe an hour or two of light rain at the most...

A once in a lifetime experience. A man in a tube drinking a beer floating down I-676 in Philadelphia. I -676 is a major thoroughfare in Philly.

Wow I didn't realize there was so much flooding in Penn from that hurricane...I saw your pics and did a few searches online for more pics and videos...Has the water receded by now or are there still areas flooded?...

For the most part locally the water has subsided. Unfortunately, one spot that is still flooded is around our local post office. We have to drive about 12 miles instead of 3 miles in order to drop off packages. Some spots like the Hershey amusement park, the roads are still flooded.

Northern PA was barely touched by the rain. Down in the lower tier of PA we received around 8 inches of rain. The drainage system is so poor in this area. No wonder we were inundated.
