Germany to follow Austria's lockdown apartheid: Berlin considers new Covid restrictions for 14million unvaccinated citizens after Vienna banned those without jabs from leaving their homes

Germany is planning new Covid restrictions for 14 million unvaccinated citizens as it battles soaring coronavirus cases, mirroring a health apartheid imposed in Austria. The country is battling a ferocious fourth wave of coronavirus and recorded 32,048 new infections on Tuesday, a rise of 47 per cent compared to a week ago, as well as another 265 deaths. The incoming Social Democrat (SDP) government today warned that unvaccinated people will be barred from going to work and travelling on public transport.

Twelve intervention trials conclude that vitamin C works for Covid
So why are hospitals being prohibited from using it?

"
OMNS (Nov. 17, 2021) Everyone knows that vitamin C is important for immunity. Sales of both oranges and vitamin C tablets have risen sharply during the Covid pandemic.

Indeed, a review of twelve studies, including five "gold standard" randomized controlled trials, shows that this simple vitamin saves lives when given in the right dose. Vitamin C can prevent a serious Covid infection.

The scientific evidence is clear: vitamin C taken when infected can reduce Covid symptoms and duration of illness. So why aren't we being told to supplement with vitamin C?

The review of the twelve studies, which includes five randomized controlled trials, is published in the journal Life [ www.vitaminC4covid.com/12trialreview ] The review was carried out and funded by VitaminC4Covid, a consortium of vitamin C experts including Dr Marcela Vizcaychipi from the Faculty of Medicine at London's Imperial College, Associate Professor Anitra Carr who heads the Nutrition in Medicine group at the University of Otago , and Dr Paul Marik, chief of the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The studies show that Covid patients have depleted vitamin C levels, often to the level found in scurvy. In patients with serious pneumonia, a depleted vitamin C level greatly increases the risk of widespread internal organ damage and death. They need substantial doses of vitamin C to recover and survive........."

Austria is making COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for the public, local news outlet says

Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said Friday that the country will go into a national lockdown to contain a fourth wave of coronavirus cases. Schallenberg said the lockdown will start Monday and initially last for 10 days. Most stores will close, and cultural events will be canceled.

He initially said all students would have to go back into homeschooling. Wolfgang Mueckstein, the country’s health minister, later said that schools would remain open for those who needed to go there but all parents were asked to keep their children at home if possible.

Starting on Feb. 1, the country will also make vaccinations mandatory, public broadcaster ORF reported.

"We do not want a fifth wave," Schallenberg said, according to ORF. "Not do we want a sixth or seventh wave."

Austria had initially introduced a national lockdown only for the unvaccinated that started Monday but as virus cases continued to skyrocket the government said it had no choice but to extend it to everyone.

Doublespeak in play here, Biden leveraged OSHA to create the mandate and now using that as a crutch to get it reinstated...

Biden administration files emergency order to immediately reinstate its sweeping vaccine mandate on private companies after appeals court put it on hold

Joe Biden filed an emergency lawsuit on Tuesday seeking to immediately reinstate his vaccine mandate for private employers with 100 or more workers after the rule faced a series of legal challenges. Earlier this month, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans issued a preliminary pause on the order, which prevented the Occupational Safety and Health Administration from moving forward in implementing the employer rules. The Justice Department argues in its filing, according to The Wall Street Journal, that the rules reflect 'OSHA's judgment that these measures are necessary to mitigate Covid-19 transmission in the workplace, and the grievous harms the virus inflicts on workers.'

New Botswana variant with 32 'horrific' mutations is the most evolved Covid strain EVER and could be 'worse than Delta' — as expert says it may have emerged in an HIV patient

British experts have sounded the alarm over a new Covid variant believed to have emerged in Botswana that is the most mutated version of the virus yet. Only 10 cases of the strain, which could eventually be named 'Nu', have been detected so far. But it has already been spotted in three countries, suggesting the variant is more widespread.

It carries 32 mutations, many of which suggest it is highly transmissible and vaccine-resistant, and has more alterations to its spike protein than any other variant. Professor Francois Balloux, a geneticist at University College London, said it likely emerged in a lingering infection in an immunocompromised patient, possibly someone with undiagnosed AIDS. Changes to the spike make it difficult for current jabs to fight off, because they train the immune system to recognise an older version of this part of the virus.

Dr Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College who first picked up on its spread, described the variant's combination of mutations as 'horrific'. He warned that B.1.1.529, its scientific name, had the potential to be 'worse than nearly anything else about' — including the world-dominant Delta strain.

Scientists told MailOnline, however, that its unprecedented number of mutations might work against it and make it 'unstable', preventing it from becoming widespread. They said there was 'no need to be overly concerned' because there were no signs yet that it was spreading rapidly.

Three infections have been detected in Botswana to date and six in South Africa — where variant surveillance is more robust. One case has also been spotted in a 36-year-old man in Hong Kong who recently returned from the continent. There are no cases in Britain. But the UK Health Security Agency, which took over from Public Health England, said it was monitoring the situation closely.

The Prime Minister's official spokesman said the variant was 'not seen as something that is an issue' for the UK at present. The mutant variant has sparked concern because of its 'very extensive' set of mutations. Professor Francois Balloux, a geneticist at University College London, said it was likely the variant would be much more able to dodge antibodies than Delta.

Pentagon says it will respond to Oklahoma's governor after state's National Guard rejects its vaccine mandate

(CNN) The Pentagon said it would respond to Oklahoma's Republican governor after the state's National Guard indicated it would thwart a Defense Department mandate that troops be vaccinated against Covid-19. The Department said it was "aware" of a memo issued this week by the Oklahoma National Guard's recently installed adjutant.

If I understand this properly, the US military would intervene in Oklahoma? I thought the Posse Comitatus Act stated the US Army could not intervene on US soil.

I have to wonder where are all these strains coming from? Is some government letting these Covid strains out to the public? There definitely is some evilness behind all these viruses.

They most likely come from random mutation and natural selection. There is no need to posit a 'government' entity (you didn't specify which government) releasing them.

WHO holds emergency meeting to discuss 'heavily mutated' COVID-19 variant, UK takes action

The World Health Organization is holding a meeting Friday to discuss the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in South Africa that has been blamed on a new variant of the virus.

Joe Phaahla, South Africa’s minister of health, identified the new variant as B.1.1.529, and said it seems highly contagious among young people.

The BBC reported that the new variant seems to be the most heavily mutated so far in the outbreak. James Gallagher, the health correspondent, wrote that one scientist described the variant as "horrific." He said the meeting of the WHO will likely result in the variant receiving a Greek code-name, like the delta variant.

"This variant did surprise us," Tulio de Oliveira, the director of the Center for South Africa’s Epidemic Response and Innovation, told the news outlet. "It has a big jump on evolution [and] many more mutations that we expected."

Nature magazine reported that the variant was first reported in Botswana earlier this month. The report said scientists are trying to determine if the variant can somehow evade the immune response. One researcher in Johannesburg said, "We’re flying at warp speed."

Aris Katzourakis, an expert at virus evolution at the University of Oxford, said, "A burning question is does it reduce vaccine effectiveness because it has so many changes."

The British government announced that it was banning flights from South Africa and five other southern African countries effective at noon (1200GMT) on Friday, and that anyone who had recently arrived from those countries would be asked to take a coronavirus test.

UK health Secretary Sajid Javid said there were concerns the new variant "may be more transmissible" than the dominant delta strain, and "the vaccines that we currently have may be less effective" against it.

Grant Shapps, the British transportation secretary, called the move essential, according to Reuters. He said the spike protein was "dramatically different" from the virus that the vaccines were designed to counter.

The Israeli Health Ministry says it has detected the country's first case of a new coronavirus variant in a traveler who returned from Malawi. Naftali Bennett, the prime minister, said the country is close to declaring a state of emergency over the variant.

Scientists sound alarm over new 'worst-ever' super-mutant COVID variant that could make vaccines 40% less effective as the UK and Israel ban travel from South Africa and other African countries but passengers will continue to stream into US

Scientists are growing increasingly alarmed at a new COVID-19 variant originating in Southern Africa, which on Thursday forced the UK and Israel to effectively stop travel from the region but passengers will continue to arrive in the US. The variant, B.1.1.529, is believed to have emerged in Botswana and is also being found in neighboring South Africa. A passenger in Hong Kong who had recently traveled from South Africa was found to be infected with the variant, and then infected another person while in the same hotel, quarantining. Dr Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist and senior fellow at the Federation of American Scientists, said initial data from the variant was worrying, and border restrictions should be imposed. 'Looks like vaccine evasion could be real with this variant,' he tweeted, pointing out that the two patients in Hong Kong who had the variant were both doubled-jabbed with the Pfizer vaccine.

US WILL ban travel from EIGHT African countries in bid to stop spread of new COVID variant Omicron: Fauci overruled within hours over ‘most infectious, vaccine resistant’ mutant

President Joe Biden will restrict travel from South Africa and seven other countries starting on Monday, following the detection of the COVID Mu variant, it was announced Friday. Those countries are Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, and Malawi, the White House said on Friday. 'The policy was implemented out of an abundance of caution. Our scientists and public health officials are working quickly to learn more about this variant,' the official said. The move follows similar travel bans by the UK and other European countries.
