From what I have read (which changes every day) Rittenhouse gave Black money to purchase the rifle for him because he was under 18. That is a federal crime, regardless of what purpose Rittenhouse intended to use the rifle for. This is a textbook example of why that sort of thing is illegal, and Black's photo should be on the "Don't lie for the other guy" posters at gun shops.

Found this about open carry https://www.doj.state.wi.us/sites/default/files/2009-news/final-open-carry-memo-2009.pdf
I heard - no idea if it's true - that he passed several police officers without being questioned about anything, which I find odd if true.

¶6. Applying these principles to open carry matters, we recognize that under certain circumstances, openly carrying a firearm may contribute to a disorderly conduct charge. But this determination must take into account the constitutional protection afforded by Article I, § 25 of the Wisconsin Constitution. The Department believes that mere open carry of a firearm, absent additional facts and circumstances, should not result in a disorderly conduct charge. For example, a hunter openly carrying a rifle or shotgun on his property during hunting season while quietly tracking game should not face a disorderly conduct charge. But if the same hunter carries the same rifle or shotgun through a crowded street while barking at a passerby, the conduct may lose its constitutional protection. See Werstein, 60 Wis. 2d at 672-73 (collecting cases illustrating disorderly conduct) (“In each of these cases, convictions for being ‘otherwise disorderly’ resulted from the inappropriateness of specific conduct because of the circumstances involved”) (emphasis added).

¶9. And “even when officers have no basis for suspecting a particular individual, they may generally ask questions of that individual, [and] ask to examine the individual's identification,” as long as the police do not convey a message that compliance is mandatory. Florida v. Bostick, 501 U.S. 429, 434-35 (1991). The Fourth Amendment does not prevent police from making voluntary or consensual contact with persons engaged in constitutionally protected conduct.

The reason for that is likely stated in this this post:

Allowing foreign citizens to vote in US elections is a rotten idea

Approximately 808,000 "non-citizens" may vote in future New York City elections, if the City Council welcomes them to do so, as early as December. These potential new members of the electorate would include green card holders and those with certain work permits.

This is a rotten idea. However, love or hate it, everyone at least should debate this concept with maximum precision. These 808,000 potential new voters are not non-citizens. The computer on which I write these words is a non-citizen. So is the medium via which you are reading them right now.

Rather than non-citizens, these people are foreign citizens. While they are not American citizens, they remain citizens of the foreign nations from whence they came – Mexico, Haiti, Russia, Singapore, New Zealand, and dozens more. Every human is a citizen of some country. A human non-citizen is not a thing.

So, pro or con, all discussions of this brainstorm should reflect what’s at stake:

The New York City Council aims to dilute the local votes of American citizens by extending the franchise to 808,000 foreign citizens. This would include letting approximately 117,500 citizens of communist China select the mayors, City Council members, district attorneys, and other officials of America’s most-populous municipality.

There really is no bottom to the depravity and evil of the Democrat Party, most of whose local members cheer this proposal. But astonishingly, and to his rare credit, Gotham’s far-Left Mayor Bill de Blasio, is not among them.

"I do have reservations," de Blasio said on Tuesday. "So, I understand if folks say, 'Hey, I'm somewhere on the path toward citizenship.' But I also have feelings about citizenship and the value of citizenship and wanting to encourage people to become citizens, fully." De Blasio also argues that this matter should be decided by the state legislature, not the City Council. A left-wing idea must be truly wretched not to enjoy de Blasio’s support.

Conversely, New York’s mayor-elect, Eric Adams, backs giving foreign citizens the vote. This position T-bones at 100 mph into the widespread view that Adams is a moderate-to-conservative Democrat. Does this exception prove the rule or is it an ominous preview of horrors to come? As a certain former president loves to say: We’ll see what happens.

This wacky idea extends beyond Gotham. Left-wing politicians already empowered foreign citizens to vote for San Francisco school board and in local races in two Vermont cities and 11 Maryland communities. And if foreigners may vote for school board and sheriff, why not state senator and governor?

What the left wants is more. Why not let green card holders vote in state elections? If this sounds too crazy to contemplate, remember how they all laughed at the Green New Deal, when Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unveiled it in 2019? NOT GONNA HAPPEN, the smart set chuckled.

Well, President Joe Biden just signed huge chunks of the Green New Deal into law last week via his $1.2 trillion so-called infrastructure bill. Today’s madcap left-wing fantasy is tomorrow’s statute.

Similarly, if green card holders can vote in city – and perhaps state – elections, then who will tell illegal aliens that they cannot pick the leaders who make the rules for them, their families, friends and neighbors? Why not simply hand ballots to all adults (or maybe minors over age 16) who can reach their local precincts – or complete absentee ballots at home? Illegal aliens now get free health care, free education and free plane tickets to their destinations of choice. Why not give them ballots, too? Insane? Give it a few years. And, of course, a President Pete Buttigieg would give illegal aliens free Uber rides to the polls.

For now, the distinction between "non-citizens" and "foreign citizens" voting in U.S. elections is bigger than it sounds. Using the latter expression describes this dreadful idea accurately and exposes its immorality and outrageousness – before things decay even further.

Nine of 10 most popular governors are Republicans, Biden less popular than least popular governor

A recent poll shows that nine out of ten most popular governors in the United States are Republicans while President Biden’s approval rating is lower than the country’s least popular governor.

Vermont Republican Phil Scott is the most popular governor in America and holds a 71% approval rating, according to a recent Morning Consult poll that shows Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont as the only Democrat to register in the top 10.

The list of governors in order of popularity in order from one to ten includes: Scott, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, Larry Hogan of Maryland, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Mark Gordon of Wyoming, Jim Justice of West Virginia, Lamont, Kay Ivey of Alabama, Mike DeWine of Ohio, and Spencer Cox of Utah.

Rounding out the bottom as the least popular governors list were Democrat Kate Brown in Oregon, Republican Doug Ducey in Arizona, and Democrat David Ige of Hawaii. Brown’s last place approval rating of 43% was seven points higher than Biden’s approval rating in a recent Quinnipiac poll.

By a 46%-38% margin, those questioned in the poll said they would want to see the Republican Party win control of the House if the midterms were held today, with 16% not offering an opinion. And by a 46%-40% margin, those surveyed said they'd like to see the GOP win the Senate majority, with 15% not offering an opinion.

"An ominous double whammy for the Democrats with midterms less than a year out. The Senate and the House will be up for grabs and voters want the GOP to win the jump ball," Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Malloy emphasized.

The release of the poll, which was conducted Nov. 11-Nov.15, came less than a week after an ABC News/Washington Post survey that grabbed national headlines as it indicated that Republicans had a 10-point advantage over the Democrats on the generic ballot question.

PIERS MORGAN: Flip-Flop Fauci's partisan political point-scoring shows he's more interested in promoting himself then saving lives - he should park his gigantic ego, stay off TV and shut up

For someone whose day job is supposed to be leading America's scientific and medical war against Covid-19, he seems to have an incredible amount of spare time for self-promotional media interviews. Barely a week seems to go by without him popping up on TV or in newspapers and magazines, and as time has gone on, Fauci's become more and more brazenly political in those interviews since the Biden administration took over. Yesterday, he was everywhere again, speaking about the new Omicron variant. What he said in these new interviews should give every American serious for concern, not just about the latest Covid threat but about some of the outrageously partisan statements the country's top doctor made. The most egregious came on CBS's Face The Nation when Fauci burst out laughing after he was asked about Republican senator Ted Cruz calling for him to be prosecuted over his links to the Wuhan Institute of Virology from where many think the coronavirus outbreak leaked. 'I should be prosecuted?' he chuckled. 'What happened on January 6th, senator?' The interviewer, Margaret Brennan, then asked if he thought he was being used as a scapegoat to deflect attention from President Trump's culpability over the Capitol riots. 'Of course!' Fauci smirked. You have to be asleep not to figure that one out!' Republican senators including Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have called for him to be investigated over suggestions that NIH money went towards funding risky 'gain of function' research to modify coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab. We all saw the damage that Trump's gigantic ego did to public trust about Covid, with his absurd statements about things like injecting yourself with bleach to defeat it. In a way, Fauci's ego is just as dangerous because when he says he IS the Science, he implies every word he says is gospel.
