Alec Baldwin Accidentally Shoots and Kills Someone

It's a stretch but I suppose if the sear on the revolver had a problem something like this could've happened. This is why you don't point guns at people, ever, unless you intend to kill them with it. Clearly the gun was pointed at someone in this case - but from what he's said it's all HER fault for telling him to do so. What a weenie - keep digging the hole with your mouth Alex.

The front wall of my range has got dozens of holes in it - all from unloaded guns.

Stupid story but as a kid my brother had a BB gun with one stuck in the chamber. I remember you could hear it rolling back and forth and it never came out no matter how much it was shot, and it definitely was used a lot. Was probably like that a year or two. Until the day he pointed it at me and then I have a BB stuck in my chest. Better there than my eye socket I suppose but my oh my, did that episode make an impression on me.

Alec Baldwin says he DOESN'T feel guilty about accidentally shooting cinematographer dead and says someone else is responsible for tragedy: movie star says he 'couldn't give a f***' about his career'

Alec Baldwin spoke to ABC's George Stephanopoulos for an interview broadcast on Thursday night - his first full discussion of events surrounding the October 21 tragedy on the set of his Western film, Rust. The film's cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, was shot and killed during rehearsals. Baldwin was handed a gun which he was told was 'cold' - not loaded. Baldwin insists he never pulled the trigger, and the antique gun simply misfired. He said he did not feel guilty for the shooting, because he felt someone else was responsible. And he criticized George Clooney for his comments about the 'insane' shooting, saying they were unhelpful.

John Schneider rails against Alec Baldwin for claiming he 'didn’t pull the trigger'

(Excerpt)

Schneider claimed the interview was "all designed to make us feel sorry for Alec Baldwin" and claimed the actor's teary-eyed emotional responses during the interview were "bulls--t."

Schneider questioned the conversation, asking whether viewers were supposed to "believe that a gun went off by itself."

"This is a wonderful business we all work in. We are honored and privileged to be part of it," Schneider continued. "So when someone takes a crap – which obviously George and Alec have done here and obviously this woman is still deceased. Her family is still without a mother, without a wife. This is absurd."

The "Dukes of Hazzard" alum said he believes "the propaganda machine" is responsible for perpetuating the idea that Baldwin "is a victim."

"Three weeks ago, it was a prop gun. Four weeks ago, nobody knew how in the world this real weapon was loaded on the set," Schneider said. "Today, he didn't pull the trigger."

"What kind of idiots do you take us for?" the actor questioned. He then pleaded with law enforcement, asking investigators not to believe Baldwin's claim, calling it "nonsense."

An excellent example of attempted damage control doing just the opposite. The less he says, the better. He's going to get his ass sued off no matter what. I saw a Youtube lawyer explain the applicable laws, for what that's worth. He probably won't go to prison. If the half-assed armorer ever works in dis bidness again, it will be a failure of several systems.

I had several ancestors, uncles, and so on drill into my head the importance of not pointing any gun at a person, even a toy gun. That and a couple of surprises while out shooting was enough for me. Then there were local anecdotes, like the idiot deputy sheriff cleaning his gun in his trailer. It went off, shot a hole in the trailer and made two holes in the trailer next door, while the neighbors were at home. He was moved along pretty quickly. I knew the neighbor, and wondered why the deputy wasn't beat to a pulp on the spot.

It ain't rocket science.

That was yesterday. Today he isn't Alec Baldwin and by Monday he'll say he's been on Mars and wasn't even on the planet when it happened.

Some times things really are what they appear to be. All this situation lacks is a chrome handle to be rid of him with.

'Did you really not pull the trigger, Alec?' Baldwin charges reporter with an umbrella outside Woody Allen's townhouse after being quizzed over claim that his gun 'just went off' on Rust set and fired fatal bullet

Alec Baldwin whipped around and barreled toward a reporter questioning his claim that he'd never pulled the trigger of the gun that shot dead Halyna Hutchins before he skulked into Woody Allen's Upper East Side townhouse on Monday night. 'You're not allowed to photograph onto someone's private home,' Baldwin shouted at New York Post reporter Jon Levine, gesturing with the umbrella gripped tightly in his hand and sending the Levine backing up onto the sidewalk. 'Did you really not pull the trigger? Do you believe it went off without you pulling the trigger? Was it a malfunction?' Levine asked as the door closed behind the Baldwins.

If Alec had two brain cells to rub together he wouldn't be saying a single word about the incident to anyone other than his lawyer. By very publicly claiming he didn't pull the trigger, he has now painted himself into a corner. Let's just assume for a moment that the prosecutor is feeling frisky and decides to get the gun examined by an expert. Said examination determines that the gun is in good order and is extremely unlikely to discharge without the trigger being pulled. Coppers question Alec, and now he has to decide whether to stick to his ridiculous story which doesn't match the evidence, change his story to I did pull the trigger but it was an accident so please have mercy on me, or lawyer up and look guilty. None of these options really bode well for him. If I was his attorney I would be crying right now.

Baldwin is an idiot. The story of him not pulling the trigger is utter nonsense. As stated he should be lying low. When he charges at a reporter on the street it only proves he is a loose cannon. He shouldn’t be out at restaurants where he can be photographed. Hanging out with Woody Allen is a bad look. Do these Hollywood types have no remorse?

It would take any decent gunsmith about three seconds to make an evaluation of that revolver for the possibility of malfunction. It'll take a lot longer to evaluate Baldwin's evident malfunction.

The term 'armorer' typically means a gunsmith in uniform; police, military. Someone with some sort of professional training and apprenticeship. I have some doubt about Hanna Montana or whoever it was actually being one; probably a title for the role at the production company. Her uncle being a famous armorer is irreleveant, this isn't genetic. So many things had to go wrong for this to happen it seems like there has to be more to it than someone proclaiming 'cold gun' and that being enough. There is a huge disconnect here and the void should have been filled by the person responsible for the damned guns. That's about what George Clooney and oddly enough, Bo Duke had to say. I think.

You know, I could actually understand the need for realism and maybe the need to point a weapon directly a at a camera to get a cool 'shot' to pardon the expression. In an old revolver like that from the front you would have to have dummy rounds in the cylinder to make it realistic. but for fook sake, in the back I'd have primerless cartridges with brightly colored nail polish to easily identify them. I'd have to personally eyeball the whole thing and not just hand something like that over blindly.

At least that young woman has been utterly quiet about the entire thing, which demonstrates common sense and an understanding of who deep a hole she's in. Maybe she's the one who is truly remorseful.

Baldwin should have known rule number one about firearms. NEVER point a gun at anyone unless you are planning on killing that person. Guns aren’t toys. Even if he thought the gun was loaded with blank rounds he should have been ultra cautious. Baldwin comes across as careless at best and a complete idiot at worst.

You have to believe he is crapping his pants if he did an interview with George Stephenopoulos.
The only thing he proved was that he was a good actor who can cry on demand.

I recently got a disturbing email from my pistol club complete with screen shots from the security cameras. Seems some self appointed expert - someone with an incorrect and high opinion of their own skills - decided to 'teach a class' For privacy's sake I won't put them here but the screen shots show a bunch of dolts waving around AR style weapons every which way but loose. NOT permitted there, BTW. The kicker is the 'instructor' providing some sort of lecture and you can clearly see the tactical light mounted on his rifle shining on the thigh of one of the 'students' while he stands there bloviating at them. Oh Jesus, if there were a problem the facility that was established in 1938 would be shut down permanently. Former members now. Sometimes you just have the wrong people involved and unfortunately it's all too common.

You know, I know a hell of a lot about guns and have been shooting my entire life. I bet you a guy like me or @Rick Hunter is 1000% more qualified than either the 'instructor' at my range or that young woman on the movie set. I've taught a number of people basic range safety and yet, I would never ever presume to hang a title on myself and step into a role like that. The first and most critical lesson in weapon safety is to check your goddamned ego at the door.

Baldwin must be a soulless bastard. He feels no remorse? What BS! Does anyone believe he doesn’t care about his career? Of course he does. He gives Hollywood types like himself a very bad name.

What the bloody fucking hell? That's insane!

I like your brother's comment. How many times have I heard some idiot say some form of "It's okay, the safety is on."

There are several layers of failsafe rules built into the use of guns on movie sets, and these morons managed to flout them all. It just shows that nothing is idiot proof. The bottom line, though, is the show's producer and star didn't have enough sense to follow the cardinal rule of handling any gun, loaded or "unloaded". Don't fucking point that thing at people.

I was in a Kmart store many years ago, and looked towards the back of the store, looking for which way to go for some item or other, when I saw a man behind the gun counter pointing a rifle in my direction. I went back there and told him what I thought of that. He was cocky and told me I was in no danger. I ripped him a new asshole. I was going to call someone farther up the food chain and complain. I should have, and certainly would if I had it to do again.

I sell guns at my part time job. Whenever a gun is handed from one person to another the action is opened for inspection, simple as that.

Please, please tell me these morons were banned from the club. Not only for dangerous behavior, but legally endangering the club by bringing forbidden fruit onto the premises.

I hear that. BTW - I'd love an occasional gig at a local gun shop but what's available, logistics etc makes that unlikely.

And yes, they were expelled. Couldn't help but wonder there the 'instructor's' other hand was, specifically his trigger finger

I got shot once.

Standing at 7 yards behind and to the right of a tiny little woman with a small .38. When she pulled the trigger rather than hit the 3' x 3' target 21 feet away she managed to hit the thin piece of angle iron of the target frame. A fluke but that 158 grain lead bullet came right back and hit me in my upper/inner right thigh. As in, as high up as you get and have it still be your thigh. Uh huh. Didn't rip my jeans or break the skin but I had something that looked like a plum there for a month. Most of the energy had the bullet had been expended but oh my oh my ........ did that smart ........

Protective glasses, hearing protection mandatory. Even when you are being careful you still have to take precautions, and some times **** happens which is why you can never let your guard down. You might 'love guns' but they are nasty brutes and don't love you.

Just like a couple of other things I deal with regularly, electricity and the desert. They will both kill you dead if you are careless. Messing with either one requires respect for the forces involved, first and foremost, and some smart preparation. Neither cares if you live or die because they can't. One is simply a force that has to obey the laws of physics, the other is a harsh environment that regularly kills even the creatures that are well adapted to it.

Sheriff issues search warrant as focus turns to Baldwin in 'Rust' shooting probe

The Santa Fe Sheriff's Department is looking to seize Alec Baldwin's cell phone in a new search warrant it obtained Thursday. The sheriff's department wants to search Baldwin's phone for any evidence relating to the death of Halyna Hutchins.

"Affiant is requesting a warrant for the seizure and search of Alec Baldwins' [sic] cell phone to search for any evidence relating to the death investigation of Halyna Hutchins," the affidavit, obtained by Fox News Digital, said. "Affiant believes there may be evidence on the phone due to individuals using cellular phones during and/or after the commission of crime(s)."

"Such information, if it exists, may be material and relevant to this investigation. Affiant was also made aware there were several emails and text messages sent and received regarding the movie production 'Rust' in the course of interviews."

If she was only 2 feet away it would be simple to determine that. They would have already from the gunpowder residue.
