Rep. Norman demands FDA release COVID vaccine data in 100 days

South Carolina Republican Rep. Ralph Norman on Thursday introduced legislation that could force the Food and Drug Administration to release all documents relating to the coronavirus vaccine within the next 100 days.

The legislation is a direct response to a request made last month by the federal agency to prolong releasing data on COVID vaccines for up to 55 years.

"How does a vaccine that receives approval in 108 days now require 55 years just to release information?" Norman said to Fox News. "It sounds like the beginning of a very bad joke."

In September, a group of 30 scientists and medical professionals from the Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency (PHMPT) – which comprises officials from ULCA, Brown University, Yale University, and international institutions – sued the FDA after the agency refused to expedite a request for vaccine data filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The FOIA request was first submitted to the federal agency after the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine for children age 16 and up in August.

The group of scientists argued that releasing data relating to the vaccine would help satisfy vaccine skeptics of its safety and encourage further vaccinations.

I agree that a 55 year delay is outrageous. No one should find that acceptable. It's also impossible not to think that they either did something, or know about something, that is very wrong.

They want an entire generation to go away dead before releasing data on those vaccines as well as the current people in that agency would also be long gone if they get their way...The scientists are correct that releasing data now will alleviate fears about the vaccines unless there are red flags within the data the FDA doesn't want anyone to see...

Are the rules different for the president?': Psaki insists Biden follows all COVID protocols - even though he coughed his way through speech where he confirmed he had a cold

White House press secretary Jen Psaki insisted that President Biden was following proper Covid-19 protocols in forging ahead with his public appearances, despite having come down with a cold. Biden sparked concerns for his health on Friday by speaking with a hoarse voice and coughing his way through a speech on the disappointing November jobs report that fell below expectations. 'A lot of people in the workforce are encouraged not to got to work if they are exhibiting those symptoms. So are the rules different for the president?' Fox News' Peter Doocy asked the press secretary. 'The president again was tested [for Covid], as we put out,' Psaki said. 'He received a response quickly for him to proceed ... he had a cold.'

Did Omicron evolve in a RODENT? Scientist claim 'weird' mutations suggest it jumped back and forth between animals and people after early version of variant 'vanished' in 2020 and only re-emerged now

The super-mutant Omicron strain of Covid causing worldwide panic may have evolved in rodents, a scientist has theorised. The mysterious origin of the heavily mutated strain of Covid has puzzled experts since South African scientists alerted the world to is existence last week.

Omicron has 32 mutations on its spike proteins alone, nearly five times more than Delta, and there are concerns its highly divergent nature could make it it both more transmissible and that vaccines will be less effective at preventing infection.

It has also come to light in recent days that Omicron has effectively evolved in the dark, unobserved by scientists, having split off in evolutionary terms from other variants such as Alpha and Delta sometime in the middle of last year.

The prevailing theory is that Omicron emerged in a lingering infection in an immunocompromised patient, possibly with undiagnosed AIDS. This would have given the virus had time to adapt to the patient's immune system resulting in numerous mutations.

But Professor Kristian Andersen, an immunologist at the Scripps Research Institute in California, has theorised that the virus that would become Omicron may have evolved in rodents - known to be carriers of the coronavirus - after an infected human passed the virus to them.

This would explain why it split off from its evolutionary branch and 'vanished' at some point in 2020 and re-entered the population with so many highly unusual mutations, many never seen before.

A negative Covid test doesn't prove you don't have Covid, as someone with the virus will only test positive in a PCR test about 70% of the time.

Are we going to see more of this if true?...If Covid is jumping back to humans from animals who got it from humans and omicron is the first one of many, this opens a longer term problem...

I have the feeling that the White House would not be forthcoming and disclose it if the President were to get sick with Covid if his symptoms remain mild...I think they will try to cover it up like what is possibly happening now...Its very possible he has Covid...

Well, it's hard not to suspect that he's suffering from some degree of cognitive disability, but we don't even know whether he's been tested for that.

He had a physical recently but that did not include a cognitive screening...Also recently he was caught not wearing a mask at a dinner somewhere and also at a store or shopping mall when he was with his family...Its possible he was exposed to the virus when he was maskless or got exposed through his wife...Last week the First Lady did not wear a mask in public around some children at a school or library I think, I'm not sure where she was...

Because of the President's obvious frail state along with his senior age they should be taking extra precautions to shield him from Covid, he must be able to at least finish his term which is three more years...
