Deadly Wuhan Coronavirus

We don't have any type of covid pass process in the US and personally I don't see any necessity for one...I think its an overreaction and another layer of control...

...

.....which is about the reaction we just gave our new state governor with her mask mandate. It's only in effect until January 15. Well, that makes perfect sense. January 15 at oh, say about 2:17 in the afternoon then everything will be just dandy.

I just read that Philadelphia is instituting a mandate that any place that serves food, the person must produce their Covid shot card showing you had two shots. This includes restaurants, taverns, cafes etc.

The big problem is who is going to be the Covid police. Are employees going to have to fight with unruly customers? The reason for the mandate is an increase of 50% of Covid cases. The strange part is that 75% people over 18 years of age have got the shots in Philly. What a clu*******k.

Are there any tests available to you that could reveal if you've previously had Covid?...
Supposedly an antibody test is sophisticated enough to distinguish between antibodies produced by the vaccine and antibodies produced by the virus, so that may work. I don't know how much that costs, though, or where to get one.

What happened to AstraZeneca?...That's a British made vaccine and you can't get it in Britain?...
Correct, booster doses are only mRNA type vaccines, unless the NHS deems that there is a medical reason that you cannot be given the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The AZ vaccine was dropped for people under forty as a first vaccine some months ago, following the furore over blood clots, and booster doses of AZ are simply not being offered in the first instance. It seems to me that it would have been more sensible for AZ to be the preferred choice for those of male sex under 40, and Pfizer first choice for those of female sex under 40, rather than simply taking AZ off the table altogether. They also refused to test the relative safety of AZ with needle aspiration prior to injection, which I expect would prove to have a much lower incidence of serious side effects.

Currently at my job we have 7 people with Covid-19 over the last 3 working days, so seems to be a small outbreak...Friday last week 2 people tested positive, then yesterday 3 more people and today 2 more people...Out of those 7 I've been had contact with 2 of them just before they showed symptoms but so far I feel fine...

AstraZeneca would be my 2nd choice after J&J if it were available in my country...I think Pfizer is trying to corner the market but their vaccine will never be injected into me...I'm still in the fence about getting a booster, leaning towards a no though...

I'm the only one in this building that has had it and that was in the first wave. The turnover in this building is constant. Right now there are 11 suites that are available.

9000 dead outside of long term care homes when 90% of them are also of old age is not a pandemic in two years in Canada. There is no pandemic.

70% of our covid deaths were at long term care facilities. 40% above the international average. Canada failed long term care residents.

Mainstream Canadian news tells us that 70% of all covid deaths in Canada took place in Long Term care homes.

28,000 dead in over two years of Covid19 in Canada 70% of that took place with elderly living in long term care homes that have a poor reputation historically we cannot ignore that.
Simple Math
28,000 - 70% = 8,700.

That means roughly in two years only 8,700 people died from covid not living in nursing homes, In Canada that's not a pandemic level number, we should be happy that's all it was and move on. Get your shots if you want or feel you need them.

This is crazy. More people die each and every year from heart disease and mosquito bites.

Omicron spreads 70 times faster in airways than delta but 10 times slower in lungs

Omicron multiplies 70 times faster in the airways than delta yet replicates 10 times more slowly in the lungs, which may explain why it is very transmissible but less severe, scientists have said.

Researchers at the University of Hong Kong studied how quickly the virus replicates in bronchial and lung tissue in the lab. They discovered that the virus was capable of replicating far faster in the bronchus - the tubes that attach the windpipe to the lungs - with more infection present after just 24 hours than delta produced after two days.

However, the research showed the virus struggled to reproduce efficiently in lung tissue, which may explain why people are experiencing cold-like symptoms, but few cases are progressing to serious disease.

Dr Michael Chan Chi-wai, the principal investigator, said the research may suggest omicron is less severe, but warned that a very transmissible variant could lead to more deaths, even if it was milder. “It is important to note that the severity of disease in humans is not determined only by virus replication but also by the host immune response to the infection, which may lead to dysregulation of the innate immune system, such as a cytokine storm,” said Dr Chan.

CDC warns Americans NOT to get J&J shot over blood clot risk following nine deaths: Panel unanimously recommends more effective Pfizer or Moderna vaccines instead

Most Americans should be given the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines instead of the Johnson & Johnson shot that can cause rare but serious blood clots, U.S. health advisers recommended Thursday. The strange clotting problem has caused nine confirmed deaths after J&J vaccinations - while the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines don't come with that risk and also appear to be more effective, advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. It's an unusual move and the CDC's director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, must decide whether to accept the panel's advice. Until now the U.S. has treated all three COVID-19 vaccines available to Americans as an equal choice, since large studies found they all offered strong protection and early supplies were limited. J&J´s vaccine initially was welcomed as a single-dose option that could be especially important for hard-to-reach groups like homeless people who might not get the needed second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna options. But the CDC´s advisers said Thursday that it was time to recognize a lot has changed since vaccines began rolling out a year ago.

There are several doctors talking about how the people that are being trained to give vaccines in pharmacy and doctors offices are not being taught how to aspirate the needle properly and this can be causing quite a few of these problems.

Abstract
Aims: With ongoing intensive vaccination programme against COVID-19, numerous cases of adverse reactions occur, some of which represent rare events. Enlargement of the injection site’s draining lymph nodes is increasingly reported, but is not yet widely recognised as being possibly associated with recent vaccination. As patients at risk of a severe course of COVID-19, indicated by their medical history such as a previous diagnosis of malignancy, receive priority vaccination, newly palpable lymph nodes raise concerns of disease progression. In this case series, we report on five patients who presented with enlarged lymph nodes after COVID-19 vaccination.

Methods: Sonography guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) was performed in five patients presenting with PET-positive and/or enlarged lymph nodes after COVID-19 vaccination with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

Results: COVID-19 vaccination had been carried out in all cases, with an interval of between 3 and 33 days prior to FNA. Three of five patients had a history of neoplasms. The vaccine was administered into the deltoid muscle, with subsequent enlargement of either the cervical, supra-, infra- or retroclavicular, or axillary lymph nodes, in four out of five cases ipsilaterally. In all cases, cytology and additional analyses showed a reactive lymphadenopathy without any sign of malignancy.

Conclusions: Evidence of newly enlarged lymph nodes after recent COVID-19 vaccination should be considered reactive in the first instance, occurring owing to stimulation of the immune system. A clinical follow-up according to the patient’s risk profile without further diagnostic measures is justified. In the case of preexisting unilateral cancer, vaccination should be given contralaterally whenever possible. Persistently enlarged lymph nodes should be re-evaluated (2 to) 6 weeks after the second dose, with additional diagnostic tests tailored to the clinical context. Fine needle aspiration is a well established, safe, rapid and cost-effective method to investigate an underlying malignancy, especially metastasis. Recording vaccination history, including date of injection, site and vaccine type, as well as communicating this information to treating physicians of different specialties is paramount for properly handling COVID-19 vaccine-associated lymphadenopathy.

G7 brands Omicron 'biggest threat to global public health' before Biden issues grim warning of a 'winter of illness and death' for the unvaccinated: Study claims variant is 'markedly resistant' to shots

President Joe Biden warned Thursday of a 'winter of severe illness and death' for the unvaccinated, as he said at the White House that the omicron variant is 'here' and 'spreading.' The Omicron will overtake Delta as the dominant COVID variant in US in January, American health officials said. Biden met with his covid team, keeping his mask on during comments, and urged Americans get boosted, or get shots if they remained unvaccinated.

That doesn't even make sense. If it's markedly resistant to shots, what would be the point to taking the shots?
