Just Cancelled Netflix

I think they are making some serious mistakes. I had been watching Transformers: Dark of the Moon, 10-20 minutes at a time, but today it was gone! Meanwhile they have been repeatedly raising prices, and have no annual discount option. They're nuts if they think that their present strategy will save them.

Netflix cancels multiple shows amid huge subscriber loss

Netflix’s cancellation spree continues with Space Force, Raising Dion and Pretty Smart

Now I don't trust them anymore. It's a nuisance to obtain content through "alternate means," but why would I ever subscribe again if stuff will just suddenly vanish?

I have Netflix only because T-Mobile provides it for free with my cellular plan, otherwise i wouldn't be paying for it myself directly...I rarely even take advantage of having Netflix, I don't use it...

Why is Netflix loosing subscribers?

Are the programs poor or is it inflation?
A factor that affected me, is they have been raising their price, seemingly every other month.

Another factor applicable to me, but also mentioned in some articles, is that they don't have a great library - at least for what I'm interested in. This is partly due to all the streaming competition that has emerged in the last decade. Networks aren't sending their stuff to Netflix like they used to. For classic content, I like Tubi better. For relatively recent TV shows, I prefer Hulu. There are so many streaming outlets now, I, and everybody else, has to pick and choose.

I also have a confession to make: Everything I said in my initial post is true, but not long afterwards, I realized I had just been waiting for an excuse to cancel.

Anyway, of the things I've glanced through online, this seems to summarize the overall situation the best.

"Why did the loss of Netflix subscribers happen? A perfect storm of reasons, led by the war in Ukraine (Netflix cut services in Russia), but also driven by the fundamental fact that Netflix now exists in the hyper-competitive world it created — i.e., the rise of streamers like Disney+, Apple TV+ and HBO Max. (There is also the reality of password sharing, but that sounds, in the scheme of things, like a rather desperate rationalization.) The reasons matter, but the upshot is that as Netflix was navigating what is arguably the worst crisis in its 25-year history, the image of Netflix as the unstoppable locomotive of the new age of the entertainment industry took a major hit. And if those headlines provided the words, then last week’s CinemaCon, the annual gathering of the motion-picture theater industry, added the music, all of it coming together in a hit single that went like this: “Movie Theaters Are Back, Baby!”"

We were watching some series, forget which. Also forget the last time we used it so may as well cancel and save $16 a month. Hell, soon that’ll be a gallon of home heating oil. Got an $1100 delivery yesterday. Oooooof. Go Brandon. Nice job Joe

There's an irony to go with my cancellation.

With the last price increase (just a couple of weeks ago), I thought I might be better off switching to a discounted annual plan. So, I logged into my account, took a peek, and was shocked to find they don't have an annual plan!

In retrospect, their shortsightedness saved me some bucks as they would have had my dough, and I would been locked in for the next 12 months. Instead, I have unsubscribed, and possibly will never sign up again.

I got a text from T-Mobile today, they said Netflix had recently raised their subscription fee but T-Mobile will continue to provide Netflix free as part of my cellular service package...

So I wonder how long before T-Mobile drops Netflix...

Netflix cuts it's WOKE content after stock plummets.

Netflix is having to cutback on more content as their subscribers continue to drop. With woke content such as Meghan Markle’s new series ‘Pearl’ trying to make their way to the streaming service, maybe the type of shows they’re bringing on may be a contributing factor to subscriber loss.

Netflix is Losing Subs because of all the recent competition like Disney plus, And the Market shake where a lot of content is being managed by specific streaming services, The Main Draw of Netflix originally was, You could find most if not all of your shows you were looking for there. But now, You have to be subscribed to several services to watch all your shows, Heck, im subbed to Hulu, Netflix, Hbo, Paramount, Peacock, Umm A few others, Anyway, I'm legal cause it's less of a headache than setting up IPTV. However, there are other ways one can get all their shows. An App Called TeaTv On firestick or android Has everything, It even has an M3U file reader so you can get direct access to live TV. Anyway, Look for Kodi App Or TeaTv Then Search Google For Live Tv .M3U file. Load it up, You got everything. I still suggest just paying for the services its less of a headache and they aren't that expensive. But there are always other ways, for everything...

I cruised through Netflix and found The Dark. Kind of a weird German Stranger Things so far. Mrs.Pigfarmer likes it, so maybe Netflix will be around a while yet.

Netflix cracks down on woke workers! Streaming giant tells staff in new culture memo to LEAVE if they're offended by its content as bosses back Dave Chappelle after backlash at trans jokes

The US streaming service dished out a new 'culture memo' telling staff if they are offended by the content they can leave the firm. Bosses warned they will not 'censor specific artists or voices' even if employees consider the content 'harmful'. The document also called on workers to tighten their belts and reign in corporate spending as the company's finances falter. The ailing platform has shelled out millions of viewers over the last year as rivals Amazon, Disney and Apple pick up steam. Stocks have nosedived over the last six months from nearly $700 to as low as $166 yesterday despite a slight rise to $174 in pre-market trading. Meanwhile the company has been at war with itself over airing content some woke workers claim is harmful to them. Young activists have targeted the likes of comedian Chappelle for jokes about transgender people and aimed to get him cancelled. But Netflix finally appeared to be stamping out the backlash with its new memo titled: 'Netflix Culture - Seeking Excellence.'

Too little too late?...

Netflix's woke purge: Troubled streaming giant's latest layoffs targeted 150 staff who were among its most vocal social justice warriors working on original content about marginalized communities

The struggling streaming service has pulled the plug on several projects that were aimed at discussing race to a young audience, Variety reported, and axed the diverse employees working on and promoting them. In the recent layoffs, Netflix once again targeted members of Tudum, it's content arm comprised of mostly women of color, after laying off dozens from the department in April. Among the newly fired were Olivia Truffaut-Wong and Iydia Wang as filmmakers, animators and women's advocates slam the streaming giant over the firings.

I've gotten a couple of emails from Netflix in the past 10 days, asking me to resubscribe. In itself, that's par for the course. But they aren't offering anything to entice me. No trial, no yearly discount, no monthly discount - no nothing! Possibly they are too strapped financially to make such offers, but if that's the case, they might go into a downward spiral. As others in this thread have observed, there's a lot of competition out there now. Netflix has got to do something, or offer something, to make themselves distinctly attractive.

Optimum keeps bombarding me to come back. It's entirely automated I realize but God, you couldn't pay me to go back to that. Around here the service sucked.
