Well, I think it's an abomination but I'm willing to give it a go and watch a few episodes, can't say if I'll change my view of this horrible decision...They've ruined the show enough since David Tennant...

I have no problem with a new actor...female or not. I would be more concerned about the writers and production head which is changing. They are far more likely to change the direction of the show.

This has already happened a few years ago, Russell T. Davies wrote great episodes and left the series when David Tennant left as the Doctor...As a result the writing suffered for the last two Doctors, occassionally having a good episode mixed in...

So whilst I hate a woman is taking the role a man should, I think having fresh writers may help more than hurt in this case...

It depends on ones perspective,,,,,I really liked Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi...and the River Song stories.....but I agree that some of the episodes were a bit hard to swallow.
I also think it would be better for continuity and tradition to keep Dr Who a man but it might be interesting,,,, and if it doesn't work out with ratings and fan appeal they will change it back.

I was always a Star Trek fan - But avoided watching Voyager for a long time because I could not imagine a female
captain - Even tried watching it a few times and then stopped as I did not particularly like Kate Mulgrew - But finally gave
it one more chance and let the first episode play through - Glad I did- Voyager turned out to be one of the best in
the Star Trek franchise. And as the enigmatic "Q" from the series, who appeared in one of the episodes said while talking to the captain something about 'how do you combine the feminine with a commanding male role and do it so well?" - I don't remember the exact answer she gave - But Q was right - she made it work.

Same could be said for Jessica Alba in the series "Dark Angel" which I at first stopped watching when I said to myself
no one this cute and pretty will be able to play it and make it believable - But much to her credit - She did -
And did it well, playing a genetically enhanced superhero.

I saw most of all Doctor Who series through streaming services - Just stopped watching the last year or so becuase
1. Because even though Dr. Who is sci-fi, it is still basically horror stories - generally I don't watch or like horror stories.
and 2. Maybe as someone stated the writing isn't quit as good as it used to be.

But - Dr. Who as a woman? - should be interesting - I'll give it a try.

Can the great Wizard now appear as a great Witch? - Time will tell - But fellow time
travelers remember - You ain't seen nothin yet!

Agreed on perspective, Matt Smith was spotty with me, some episodes were fine others lacked depth, but that was due to writing...Now I thought Peter Capaldi was a fine Doctor, he had some better episodes than Smith and he played the part better I think...David Tennant was a natural at playing the Doctor, his acting was superb and the writing complimented him and lifted the show...

The River Song episodes were good overall but could have been better, the Kill Hitler episode was horrible...The Christmas special with River Song showing how she was poised to go into the past and meet David Tennant's Doctor was one of the best Xmas specials ever, it was absolutely brilliant, I've watched that Xmas special numerous times lol...

Am puzzled about the time lord laws, twelve male regenerations in a row suggest it is not random.
Alternatively it could conceivably be the doctors preference?!

It could be a pattern of experience that develops through time where the next incarnation would possibly be a reflection of the subconscious of the previous incarnation...If one time Lord were more self conscious than another than he or she could choose the path of regeneration, maybe perhaps choosing to stay a man for most of his long lives of regenerations...

Wouldn't a male Dr Who be more fitting for regeneration I mean he does have to handle testosterone fuelled battles with Alien species .

An abomination is better than an obamanation.

I'm still studying the situation and will report back after a few episodes.

I am disturbed by the identity politics of neocoms (lefties and progressives) that try to promote race and gender warfare.

But this is British and just a TV show so who cares? I'll watch it and see if I like it.

I thought the recasting of the master was successful, so I'm in wait and see mode.

So I've given this 13th Doctor a try, I really did because I like Doctor Who and have for a long time...The show made a spectacular reemergence with the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston which lead to the stellar years of the 10th Doctor, David Tennant...Since then, the 11th Doctor was brilliantly played by Matt Smith although the writing suffered a bit here and there...The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi was okay, he had a few good solid episodes but overall flat in which both writing and acting suffered...This 13th Doctor is an abomination, a total mess, they have strayed too far from the core energy of the show...I'm very disappointed, River Song said it in an episode with the 11th Doctor, something to the effect of; The Doctor will rise so high and then fall so far down...

Yeah, something about the show is off.

I don't know it is they are just trying to be socially relevant or the new doctor isn't a good fit for the role.

But it is just hard to get engaged in the show. Could be a combination of writer and actor.

But I'll wait for the next doctor and see if it is better.
