You assume that Gene is telling the truth. I do not make that assumption. Gene is ALWAYS on the verge of total destruction and destitution. After awhile, you tend to roll your eyes, shake your head and actually laugh.
Good point. I notice a couple of things in the way he words things, and also the ridiculous premise he sets himself up for in his begging.
1 - He mentions the "three weeks he spent in cheap motels", where even the dirt cheapest is about $50 - which comes out to about $1000 he was able to drop on lodging after he was evicted. That doesn't add up.
2 - He mentioned trying to find a 'affordable apartment in a decent neighborhood' in his postings - when he didn't have a home! He mentioned him and his wife seeing some really nice apartments and manufactured homes in nice neighborhoods before in that situation. How ridiculous is that, that he is neighborhood judging in that situation? If you have a roof over your head and bullets aren't coming through your door, that should be the standard in that situation. Beggars apparently can be choosers.
3- Among all of this he was asking for money for car insurance as well as a new web server. When one of the people who have exposed this, played Gene for a fool offering him money from an 'inheritance', Gene replied, and I quote "how is low five figures to start?" I mean are you serious?! See:

4 - Notice the wording in his tweets. Lots of "may be forced" and "may not have" - because he already knows what his next scheme is. It's the same one he's been doing. He'll find another place that will take him without checking his past, or use someone else's name, pay the security deposit and whatever is required to get him in the door - and then not pay the rent until they either arm ring him for the least amount possible he can get away with to stay another month - or they kick him out and do it all over again.
This has been his play since the beginning and what he'll likely continue to do. No one gets evicted after three months unless they flat out have decided they're not going to pay for rent, and that's what he's done.
