Tham Luang Cave Rescue

I find it normal, caves are nice to explore, usually kids are the ones who like to explore the caves the most, just that maybe he didn't expect the rain to come and water to rise up that fast, idk how the weather is like there but here it's quite unpredictable, it can suddently rain even in very hot weather.

First of all hello dear friend :)

Well, look at it this way.

1. He was responsible for 12 young lives.
2. The entrance had a warning signs about flooding
3. No safety equipment was brought with them, other than some single flash light.
4. They ventured 4 km deep inside of the cave system
5. Their coach is an adult of 25 years of age

Now, I think it could have been normal if they went in some 200 meters considering the above statements.

This only shows its too dangerous to try to get those kids to dive out, some will die if they attempt it...

Elon Musk has a good idea, an air tube underwater, what do you think?...

Elon Musk sends Boring Company engineers to help Thai cave rescuers | Daily Mail Online

The tech billionaire is sending his top employees to rescue 12 schoolboys and their coach from a flooded Thai cave. They plant to insert a nylon tube and inflate it 'like a bouncy castle' to create a tunnel.

I wonder what happend to that guy.

Which really underscores how dangerous trying to get the kids and coach out via diving can be.

If you check out the graphic with this article, it's an 11-hour round trip: Diver dies in Thailand cave rescue attempt

Wow! And yet, I saw headlines recently stating it might be possible for the boys to walk out without diving. So, I feel like maybe the picture in the news is still a bit muddled. I of course continue to hope they will all be brought out alive and unharmed.

As for exploring caves, a good friend of mine here locally is the scoutmaster of a boy scout troop (he has 3 sons and a daughter). The scouts explore caves regularly. Of course I believe they are well-prepared and not likely to take a risk of venturing in when flooding is possible but, I'm just saying nothing unusual about a group of boys wanting to check out a cave. Just seemingly some poor judgment in this case.

Very sad about the diver. I'm intrigued by the Elon Musk proposal Nivek, thank you for sharing.

Here's more on Elon Musk's approach to the situation...

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has dispatched his top engineers to help rescue 12 schoolboys and their football coach trapped in a flooded Thai cave. On Twitter, Musk suggested using an underwater air tube could be created for the children to crawl through.

The 47-year-old said his Boring Co, which digs tunnels for advanced transport systems, could feed a nylon tube into the submerged sections of the cave before inflating it 'like a bouncy castle' to create an underwater tunnel.

Musk said engineers from his Boring Co and SpaceX companies needed to be on site to oversee the evacuation. The schoolboys are trapped 2.600 ft (800 m) underground, the equivalent of two Empire State Buildings stacked on top of one another.

A spokesman for The Boring Company told the BBC: 'We are speaking with the Thai government to see how we can help, and we are sending SpaceX/Boring Company people from the US to Thailand today to offer support on the ground.

'Once we confirm what exactly will be helpful to send or do, we will.

'We are getting feedback and guidance from the people on the ground in Chiang Rai to determine the best way for us to assist their efforts.'

This is not the first time Musk has been approached to assist in a disaster zone.

Here's an update...

Thai cave boys will NOT be coming out tonight: Rescuers rebuild the strength of trapped football players but WILL bring forward FIVE HOUR escape if deadly monsoon starts to flood tunnels

The trapped Thai football team will not escape tonight, but authorities are likely to launch a rescue attempt in coming days if monsoonal rain begins catastrophically flooding the caves.

I think they mean if the water subside. I read that they are pumping water out from the cave but i wonder why they are taking so long to do it.

Part of the problem was unsanctioned people diverting water back into the cave...Hopefully the authorities stopped that nonsense completely by now...

They need someting like this., With powerful tesla batteries and LED lights..

It could tow both the diver and a kid, in some parts of the cave

Good idea but i think the reason they don't want the kids to swim is because maybe they are weak, but if they could swim i think they would have come out from the cave fast.

Terrifyingly narrow passage that trapped Thai football players must squeeze through | Daily Mail Online
Divers have to squeeze through an incredibly narrow passage to reach the stranded football team
  • Tight, difficult to navigate section of the tunnel has a sharp upward bend followed by a downward slope
  • The boys would have to crawl out of the water swirling with silt in complete darkness guided by divers
  • Then they must clamber across a rocky peak before descending into the murky waters again
  • Two more British divers arrived to help with the mammoth effort to bring the 12 boys and their coach home
