As Above So Below
Split...8/10

I watched this again last night for a second time, what a strangely provocative movie for the second viewing, the 23 personalities are well defined, so much so they work for and against one another in small allegences, but then the 24th personality comes out, The Beast, and well, you don't want to be in his sights when The Beast is unleashed...

ducksoup.jpg as a birthday gift Rikki's folks treated the kids to classic cinema. the marks brothers are comic genius. I enjoyed this classic. Groucho is at the top of his game! the weak link was zeppo who was trying to play straight man. this was his last movie. a true classic that even my seven year old enjoyed!

Worst movie I have seen in a long time. I really struggled to get through this. Think of Deep Blue Sea with bigger sharks minus Samuel L Jackson which made DBS watchable.

Why Jason Statham agreed to this one apart from a big cheque, I have no idea...

Hollywood really has "jumped the Shark" with this one!

Believer
Saw this last weekend, my friends and I were the only two in the entire theater seeing it... and only upon sitting down after buying tickets and snacks, did one of my friends blurt out "Yeah, I heard this movie was god awful", so I lost most hope in the movie being any good...

It wasn't great but after having my expectations set low, it was pretty good, and I can say there were a couple of twists in there, more towards the end, that really redeemed the entire movie for me as a whole.

I guess that would be Alpha. I took my kids there because they're dog people, and this is about as doggy a movie as you will find - a feature, not a bug.

The film is geared toward a younger audience (the sweet spot is maybe 13), but it has its virtues for adults. Although some of the action sequences beggar belief, you can tell the writers did some actual research in to the lives of stone age people and the rise of domestic dogs.

Venom:Venom-Movie.jpg

I have not followed comics for years. So when I took My daughter Debbie and her date to see Venom I needed a catch up.
Venom is a would be sometimes hero. Like Harley Quinn from batman. He was a villain for Spiderman as well. Brian my daughters date described him as a badass, Kickass no nonsense Anti-hero. The movie venom was loud chaotic buffoon. trying to be funny like Deadpool yet failing at every turn. I liked Deadpool he was funny. Even when he is in a life or death situation. Venom is well not funny, and not badass. During the movie I turned to Brian and asked "So where is Spiderman?"
He was at a loss.
Venom was on its own a mess that Brian told me was no where near as good as the comic Venom. I also learned that this movie was not an MCU movie. It was made by Sony. The same studio that made the "fantastic four." I spoke to Brian about that movie. the less said the better. Venom was a dull lifeless adventure. I was never excited about him. And I noted Brian and Debbie were not overwhelmed by it. Maybe my husband will like it but for me I did not enjoy it.

Deadpool 2. I don't really get into the superhero stuff but the first movie and then this one absolutely cracked me up.

First man.
The story of Neal Armstong and the 1st moon landing is amazing. This movie bounces around Armstong's life. starting with the death of his daughter.
her bracelet is a key item. The movie dwells on Armstong doing everything in her memory.
The film is shot in several ways. some shots in 16mm to make atmosphere. some in IMAX ratio. the transition is jarring.
the moon landing happens near the end. and is unbelievable. I am now sure any attempt at a moon hoax would look like this.
at NO time did I believe this was other than a studio.
2001 a space oddasy did a moon walk better. and it was made in 1968.
and at this moment.. where Armstong speaks his famous "one small step" he looks at his dead daughters bracelet that he is holding in his hand..

Sumerian Clay Tablets Documentary
Viper TV Film Production.

Specialists have spent decades trying to decipher these intricate symbols. One of the more fascinating aspects of cuneiform script is the evolution of the characters from the original pictogram Sumerian language to the wedge shaped strokes of Akkadian and Assyrian writing.
The stories of Nibiru needing gold for it's atmosphere I viewed as fringe pseudo archaeology.
That said, the documentary gives surprising detail from purported cuneiform translations.

The Annunaki arrived and began extracting gold from sea water. Unable to get the yield, they instead turned to mining.
To provide the workforce a hybrid Annunaki Hominia was genetically engineered. Later a variant which could breed was produced.

The documentary has a (perhaps deliberate) somnambulistic voice over and unfortunately gives no detailed sources.
Cuneiform writing uses just two basic shapes, a straight line and a triangle. Any readers out there?

a shot from 1st man showing the moon..
The imagry was realistic. I felt like I was there, watching live moon action.

I have read biography books about Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, which I really liked.

I think this movie was a good depiction of Neil, but I would have enjoyed a bit more about the fun parts of being an astronaut to counter the drama. His life wasnt all so dry. He had a good sense of humor and a good heart...

It certainly wasnt all ticker tape parades and I think it really brought home how difficult being a test pilot and astronaught can be.

I really liked the movie, 'First Man' and I hope it spurrs more interest in the future of manned space flight to the moon again, and beyond.

A story about how synthetic humans can feel and even love, and how the people they are involved with react to this concept.
Slow but fascinating. Watched it a second time, through the eyes of knowing what was going to happen.

The_Grinch,_final_poster.jpg

After losing my job I needed a break. Rikki paid for a movie for the family.
The Grinch is a wonderful movie. Don't get me wrong the animated version from the 60s is the best. But this comes close. Unlike Goodebumps this held my kids attention. I caught myself joining in on the old song "your a mean one mr.grinch." enjoyed it greatly.
