For a long time I wavered between "crooked" and "crazy" in my assessment of Gene. I've now got the most checkmarks in the "crazy" column, but think there's still room for some checks in the "crooked" column as well. A nuisance to all, a menace only to some: the incomparable Gene Steinberg (as his late brother-in-law dubbed him).

I think he's just an example of a personality type, no idea what label to give him. Don't think he needs a label because you get one that sounds complicated enough it becomes a condition and an excuse i.e. Munchausen syndrome, except he's making himself and the rest of us financially woozy.
A list of ingredients is more apt. Some flavor of sociopath to feel absolutely zero shame in incessant begging, with a dash of entitlement for bringing a free podcast to the world. And for some time it was a decent one that many of us didn't mind contributing to. Also some favor of plain old a*****e for sh*****g where he eats - meaning screwing around with the same forums paying members wanted to participate in. Also with a degree of predatory instinct because he still manages to find a few - a dwindling number - to feed from.

Now this is too much it may sound like sniping but,
I just happened to go to the "likes" page under notable members and saw something very odd. The top like getter was (sound of trumpets) Randall with 6,658 likes. I can't say I too surprised because Randall usually did have some rational responses. But 6,658 ??? that total had him well above Gene even (5152 likes) Gene as can somewhat be expected was the leader there but that ship sailed long ago.
Now my memory could be off and I know that Mike (Two Cows?) was way up there but has since been scrubbed from the forum. Good ole' TrainedObserver was up there too.
Even more shocking is the prominence of one of the last of the old guard Constance with 4,198 likes (out of 7k+) although those numbers jive with her usual average?. Now it could be that they are basically the only ones posting (and probably is the answer behind this conundrum) but it does seem unlikely.

Well the Parasite forum has devolved to a point where there are no ethical boundaries in what both Gene and Randall do.
We know that Randall thinks he has the right to edit people's messages without their permission. He is not even ashamed to admit. He also loves to lock threads when he can't rationally argue with someone.
Both Gene and Randall delete messages and threads as and when they feel like it. It is also pretty clear that Gene reads private messages between members. He loves banning anyone that doesn't agree with him, thereby also cancelling their Plus membership without refunding their money, and he also likes adding them to the global spam list (whether they are spamming or not).
He is not averse to padding out active members by creating new shill accounts and taking over old inactive ones - there is no reason to presume Randall doesn't do this too.
It would not really be a big stretch to imagine that some of these accounts may be being used to pad out the likes for him.
Basically neither of these guys have any kind of ethics when it comes to the forum so it is pretty likely everything there is being gamed both to stroke their egos and to try to make it look more active than it is to potential advertisers.
As with most things these clowns do, it's all done in a very inept and clueless manner. The forums don't look any more active because you simply can't fake decent activity manually (even if you aren't lazy and spend all day making fake posts). [To do it in any realistic kind of way you would need to hire an army of people and it would be very expensive. Bots alone would easily be caught.]
Anyway this duo are both incredibly lazy so they can't even make a decent effort of doing it badly.
Their characteristically inept way of doing things (because they are intellectually lazy too) has made their activities so obvious to the masochistic people who are still using the forum that it simply drives even more of them away.
Even the members who never engaged with anyone else and simply posted photos and various other garbage have all but disappeared.

Looks like we may be getting a small reprieve today (in the non wig sense) - this suggests Gene was busy with something today, maybe he went to the Apple store to get his new Ipad, or a leisurely day at the casino to burn money. I suppose this means tomorrow there will be extra messages.

I wonder how getting auto insurance for a car you don't need and make extortionate payments for every month could be used in a better way. Maybe it could pay those motel bills you have such difficulty with?
Assuming any of this storyline is true, how do you know that? Have you hacked Paypal? Is the all seeing Schemey using his psychic powers?

I sometimes wonder if this clown ever reads what he writes. There has been the crisis over the storage. Yet the storage facility hasn’t thrown the Steinberg’s garbage out onto the street. PayPal is supposed to be settled any day now. That has been going on for weeks now. It’s supposedly still day by day at the motel. Still no mention of where that Social Security money goes each month. That sum of money should just about cover the monthly tab at the motel. A meal would be included as well.
Steinberg still worries about a car and insurance that he can ill afford. All of this sounds like an addiction. He could easily seek help for shelter and food. He refuses to do so. “That would be the death of me,” he states. Such melodrama from someone who supposedly is almost in the street. Does he really believe that some huge windfall of money will come in and make things right? How delusional is this guy?

He did briefly have the PayPal account 'open for donations' again, after the first (this year) crisis there. He was accepting donations at it for a couple weeks at least I think, then suddenly it was 'in the red' again. He didn't tell a story about why it was in the red this second time, where the first time it went red he proclaimed it the result of 'fraudulent chargebacks' or the like.
Who knows. But I do imagine something is up with his PayPal account if he is asking for donations via other means that seem to represent more work for his would-be donors. Higher bars to clear I think, for most people. Perhaps he just got tired of people forgetting not to take the 'friends and family' option.
