It makes sense. Gene has a serious disability - pathological laziness, this makes it impossible for him to do normal things like cooking, cleaning, doing a real job, budgeting etc.
It would be out of the question for him to even microwave a ready meal when he could just get in his car and burn gas to travel to a fancy restaurant where someone else will do the work for him and charge him a huge amount of money for the privilege.
If it weren't for his disability, he might have been able to use some of that money he blows on restaurants to do a basic cookery course (most colleges do them) but unfortunately this just isn't possible.
Even the slightest effort or attempt to save money might break Gene so he has no choice but to keep begging and eating out in restaurants. So sad.

Yeah... he is never going to stop begging for money to "get his life back". Which may just amount to, doing what he wants to do while others pay for the food, lodging, transportation and entertainment he regards as his due.
This would all be sad enough, and I would say contemptible, but he will also say whatever he thinks will move people to give him the cash he feels he is owed. And then he STILL doesn't pay his bills.
Someone commented at The UFO Trail blog recently that Gene, "considers these donations to be regular income.
Not one off gifts, but an integral part of his income stream." Which I think is exactly right. They went on to say, "Lets say he did indeed get enough cash from these pester mails to catch up on his outstanding bills, and then enough to pay a deposit and moving costs to a new apartment. They would remain an essential income component to sustain that situation going forward.
As you say he isnt asking for gifts or donations, he wants you to subscribe to these begs and keep paying on a regular basis as regular income for him."
And no matter how much the experiences of this year might show what a really terrible plan that is, for he and his family for sure (and I'm not convinced he is capable of caring about anyone else), he is committed to this idiotic, parasitic course - a course which has left him homeless more than once already.
I like to think he's astounding in part because I hate to think there could be many others like him.
(Also - I am sympathetic that at 73 and after what appears to be decades of not working, he's not exactly anyone's model employee. But that doesn't entitle him to live off as he pleases while exploiting the goodwill of others to foot whatever bills he absolutely has to pay. He is a nightmare of a person who will burn people to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a head, given a chance - and we know this. This is documented.)

At this time of year a lot of people are giving to charity, doing positive things for their community and just generally thinking of others.
It must really sting Gene that all this giving is going on and he isn't getting a cut of it. People don't seem to realise there is no cause more worthy than continuing Schemey's parasitic lifestyle on everyone else's dollar.
That money going to an animal shelter or giving gifts to needy children could buy Gene a new Apple Watch or a meal at his favourite Michelin starred restaurant. It could buy him that rare edition of a Supergirl comic or several blu ray boxsets of his favourite shows. Maybe he could buy a Faberge egg.
If only people were more caring and actually understood how bad his suffering is when he is deprived of all these "essentials" which he needs to survive perhaps the world would be a better place. Wars, famine, hurricanes - nothing compares to the suffering of Schemey.
It must really make his blood boil to think of those "selfish" people donating money to good causes and giving nothing to the most important and worthy cause of all - the Schemey Benevolent Fund.

Absolutely and the most pressing need at this time of year is actually giving people (and animals) shelter through the sub zero (Celsius) temperatures that occur throughout most of the Western World. People (and animals) can and do freeze to death. I've seen horrendous videos and images of people walking past people and animals that seem to be collapsed in the middle of the snow freezing to death without giving them a second thought. I can't understand how anybody with a heart can do that.

My wife and I try and provide donations to the local animal shelter when we can. It is incomprehensible to me that anyone would give money to Steinberg who refuses to do a thing to help himself out of his financial problems. There are places who offer free, hot meals and he utterly refuses to take advantage of this. It’s too demeaning to his ego. To this I say, rot and starve in your cheesy motel room.
For a person who supposedly can’t pay his bills and has one foot out onto the street, your ego should be the last thing you worry about. No one should be wasting their hard earned money on this poor excuse for a human being.

Yeah, agreed... if he's being honest about things of course... always that "if" with him, and the knowledge he is so dishonest.
I guess for Gene the world breaks down into people who aren't clued into his behavior, and people who are. If you are not clued in, maybe he can get some dough out of you. If you are clued in, is there still a chance you might give him money or come on his show? Shocking to me but, some still do both those things it seems.

Turns out Barb may be gone afterall.. Gene and Bab's arent "friends" on Facebook anymore (in the past they always have been); and in Gene's "About" section it says "Its Complicated" next to "Relationship". This is all a major change of details. Ive been watching and I knew it would happen one day.

I had to save a screenshot of that post you posted earlier. That was so epic, insightful and dead on that whomever it was (you?) that person should be somebody's man of the year. But I believe the time magazine one has been nominated already..
Post it a dozen times on the Paracast forum and after they have been deleted, post them again.

He had hinted at this before, my guess is she left him and headed off with her sister. Their political differences alone would be enough to drive two people apart, stir in everything else, and she decided to scram. I bet the dog left with her as well.

I am friends with him on Facebook. He's not on his friends list. Moreover, when I go to her profile (Im not friends with her) I can look at our mutual friends. Gene isnt one of them. She may be "following" him, but shes not friends as far as I can tell. And I know how the system works. Besides, his marraige or relationship status is "Its Complicated". It was "Married /To Barbara Steinberg" only say 2 months ago.
Maybe I should add her as a friend. I want to ask her about Gene and how he goes about his days. The sleeping in.. The stressing over "trolls".. The half hearted efforts to get a job..
