In the hospital

I only had it 4 days. but them 4 days were the worst i have ever felt ever.
It was bad. i was down for 4 solid day’s with an aggressive H1N1 and wondered if I would even wake up next time I fell asleep.

A few more days after to to feel like I was over the illness, but it took months to completely recover my physical stamina. Before the illness I was jogging 3 miles every other day. After the illness, I Couldn’t even jog a quarter mile 2 weeks after... I stopped trying for a month, and it was very slow at coming back after that,

I HAVE HAD A FLU SHOT EVERY YEAR SINCE.

how much trouble can I get into if I take the IV out and just leave the hospital? The head nurse here has that strict Catholic nun rudness. Me and my wife were walking to the cafeteria and there she was yelling across the completely packed room to let me and thirty other people there know that I'm not allowed in there and I needed to leave. I assume it's because I'm hooked to the iv or something. And while I didn't cause a scene and cooler thinking prevailed. I felt humiliated. I'm so upset. The only thing preventing me from jerking this Iv out of my arm and walking out is .. well nothing. The intellectual side of me wants to let this pass. The country Kentucky born side of me wants to just walk out of here. This is the worst place ever

Don't screw around with The Penguin. Next IV might go in some place less convenient :)

SP, Make sure you check in with us here and keep us posted, okay? Sending positive energy your way, friend.

What pigfarmer said. Humiliation is their stock in trade, and they are damn good at it.

Mr. pigfarmer is right about the drugs too. Time travel indeed! "Okay, now we're going to put you under. This will only take... there you are. Welcome back. Are you feeling alright? Doctor said everything went just fine. Here's some juice. I'm sure you're thirsty." That's some good shit, whatever it is.

Get well soon SP.
I have been in the hospital more times than I care to count these last 18 years.

Last time I got a flu shot...I got sick.
Haven't been sick since then and that was over 15 years ago.
Knock on wood.....

Get well soon!! I know how horrid hospitals can be, my grandfather has been practically living there since he was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago.

Strangely, I'm also sick, although it's Summer here, and the heat is making it worse. It's weird, the only symptoms I keep having (I've had this before, and it lasted almost a whole month, during my senior year which made it horrid.) are constant nausea, and an aversion to bright lights. I've been distracting myself with the internet, that seems to be helping, and it's only lasted about 2 weeks so far. I feel better already.

On vaccines, I've had all of my shots, including optional ones for things like meningitis. I've never been seriously sick apart from this weird, constant nausea, that includes me getting motion sickness VERY easily. I support vaccines whole-heartedly, but do understand some people's fears around them.

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've let you guys know what's up. They have been pumping me full of antibiotics. I've been sleeping a lot. A weird thing Happened well a few weird things. My specialist came to see me yesterday and I aked him if I could get out he said I seemed well enough to be released as I was excited and waiting to be released my family doctor actually came to my room to inform me I'll be seeing a new specialist from now on and there was absolutely no way I was getting out that soon after being that sick. My mom and dad and family doctor are all upset at the specialist. I don't know. I people in general are to quick to get upset with on another. We are all human. I like the guy. I'd have a beer with him. Ppl are just too quick to wrath. That's a lesson I've been working on for so long I don't even remember how long really. With any luck I'm getting out tomorrow though. They gave me yet another MRI this morning which means I haven't had anything to eat or drink in a while so I'm intently waiting on breakfast. Weirdly enough this hospital has some of the best food ever. That could be because they keep starving me for those repeated MRIs though lol.

North Korean cuisine at its best. Lousy but you'd kill for it. I was in the hospital a few days in a bad state several years ago. Woke up famished and slobbered down a fish sandwich. Eeeeew. I don't like fish much, and definitely not in institutional sandwiches. But daaaaaamn, it was tasty. When I've read about the Donner party since then I cut them some slack.

Hope your guts are sorted out. With a perforated colon I'm surprised they let you eat much of anything.

My personal philosophy is you can do anything you want, as long as you're not hurting yourself or others. I am healthily skeptical of this. How trustworthy is this source? To be fair, the New Zealand healthcare system is probably very very different to the USA's.
(I don't want to get in a debate, nor do I want to come across as saying that your views are wrong, that's never my intentions. I'm curious on the way you think, as I like to understand differing opinions on topics. Sorry if I come across as rude!)

My parents did not vaccinate me when I was young, I got measles, mumps, chicken pox, and other illnesses before the age of 12 but none were life threatening and I'm quite sure my immune system is stronger for it...When I served in the US Navy in my mid twenties I was given three vaccines because I was traveling to another country, I cannot remember two of them but the third vaccine was for yellow fever...Not even 24 hours past and i wished I was dead, I suffered for a week of cold chills to high fever, pain in my bones like I never felt, I could barely hold food, but was very dehydrated too, the on board doctor monitored me but told me it would pass and did nothing else...It did pass and it felt like it took months before I felt normal again...I will avoid vaccinations in any way I can...

I suspect there's ulterior motives to giving the population vaccinations. According to Donald Marshall the Vril which are the small three feet subterranean reptilians don't eat people that have been vaccinated because it's poison to them. The logic could be simply to taint the meat.

I understand the scepticism completely then. No one I know has had side effects, but then again, we haven't had anything for yellow fever or other overseas diseases.

Okay, Catching up, I opted to take the Vaccinations, No matter what anyone says, Yes, They made me sicker, I was delirious for an entire Day on top of what was already wrong with me, With that Said, My underline condition Diverticulitis is well, It's worse than what it was when they found it. it may continue to worsen, There may be surgery in my future, I was released from the hospital this morning as all of the infection is now gone, They Baked it out of me with three different types of IV antibiotics. I can't cure the Diverticulitis But, If I take my medicines and Stick to this Diet they set me on, I can keep myself from getting infected again. "I Think" Either way, Right now, I feel Like a Million Dollars, Better than I've felt in almost a year And I have energy to spare, I'm Home, I can have my Family and My Dogs Again.

The Plan for Today is to Enjoy being Home, I would Say Hospitals are like Jail. I mean the Nurses and Doctors treat you like a Child and bark down orders like a parent, It was all I could do to hold it together, But something inside me kept telling me, To be as nice as possible to the Nurses and staff if I wanted proper Care. So, I never stepped out of line, I mean, let's Face it, I was really Sick, IF they had kicked me out in my critical stage, I could Have died. SO, I didn't have much choice but to listen to them.

I'm still Sick, I may need surgery, And I will, without doubt, be that sick again, But for now. I am Home, And I feel Great.
It's time to Love on some Puppies and listen to some High energy 80's Music while I ponder the complexities of this Bag of Pot I have :D

Oh, So happy to be Home :D

I had the chicken pox when I was a toddler. I keep waiting... metaphorically...for the nasty shingles infection to return, I'm 58 so I think I'm in the age range. But I guess it's a maybe it won't, maybe it will type of thing. If anybody reading this has had shingles I'd like to hear the grusome details.

I got chicken pox at 16. THAT sucked.
An acquaintance of mine got shingles - said every move was excruciating. Maybe something to look forward to. Joy.

Totally, I can't explain it, But, To spite everything, I'm a Glass is Half Full kind of person. We have to take our victories however small as they come. There are many people out there in worse situations,

While I was in the hospital, A man, I've known for about twenty years came to see me, He Had developed Emphysema and COPD. He was in Tears thinking about his Health, I felt so Sorry for him.

My worldview is different than his. Some Day We will pay our dues When Times are Bad It's not a time to be weak, It's a time to be Joyful for the path that we have walked and the time we have had. I won't be Weak like he was, I won't even be Sad, Other people will see me a person who has overcome a lot of hardship just to be here now. There is no reason to be Sad or weak ever. Others are suffering too, And If I show them Weakness or sadness It takes their own Hope away.

I won't be a burden to others. It's not my way. Even if worse comes to worst. There are as many on the other side that I love Waiting for me as there are here.

Some people May not believe like I do, Some people May not Believe there is another side. But Even if there wasn't or isn't, I am no better and no more deserving then those who went before me.

Life is about Living And giving as much Joy to others as you can.

I'm thankful for all of you Guys. I don't have to be weak like that Guy was, I have friends and family.
