What don't you like about your country?

Well I'm in the UK, nice place - civilized, tolerant but it is a small island and it's got 66 million people on it.
That said, Japan has far more, a friend returning to Tokyo from Canada told me it makes her ill.
A Chinese guy I know says that's why the Japanese are so polite.

As Above So Below
A good question, there are some things happening in my country that I do not like, but that is not what you asked, so I will not comment on those...I have visited and lived all over my country in many different states and regions, my country is huge in size and contains much variety in nature and climate...So much of the natural beauty of my country is being developed now, under construction for homes or businesses, don't get me wrong, this is a huge country and there are huge areas in my country where no humans exist...I live in a rural area near a very small town and the closest bigger city, which is almost an hour drive, is coming closer and closer ever slowly some years but all that forest between my home and that city is getting thinner as the years go by...We have to leave room for nature too, even the mountains I hike in, new homes popping up randomly over the years, I have to venture deeper into the mountains to get away from humanity...It seems my country isn't giving nature as much consideration as it should, and not giving nature enough room, I don't like that...

Will have to differ with you there, nature is overrated.
Remember the first time I visited Scotland, with it's 'glorious landscapes', got out of the car, the wind was whipping round, the rain siling down.
I thought the best I'm going to get out of this place is a draw, and got back in the car.

And returning to annoyances, here in Sheffield the roads these days seem to consist mostly of traffic lights occasionally interrupted by speed cameras.

I don't know if this applies to the country or just the system on which it's run. I don't like how it seems morality and genuine sympathy are dead concepts. We all hear about what's happening to others, but everyone is so divided politically everyone makes excuses not to care, Oh, Jeff lost his home to an IRS audit, Oh well Jeff was always a tree-hugging hippy, Maybe if he didn't hug so many trees and Made different choices He wouldn't be in this predicament. Oh Martha up the street Passed away of a sudden heart attack, If she had just laid off the fast food maybe she wouldn't be dead right now.

This is the plight that makes me lock myself away in my home, I am legitimately a paranoid person who has isolated himself from the outside world because everyone is fake or looking to use someone else, The only time people come knocking at my door is when they are looking for marijuana, " For the record I don't sell marijuana, I'm just a smoker and most people know that" People only have a need for others when they want something from them. Another thing I hate about this country is I've been married now to my third wife for seven years. Women on Facebook hunt me down, I've had ex-girlfriends come full knowing I'm married, knocking on my door, I will tell them I'm married now, They always say, What she doesn't know won't hurt her. No, I'm 42 years old. I'm done with the "Doesn't Give a Damn Lifestyle" I don't want to destroy everything and rebuild again.

I guess what I hate about my country is, Literally the people, I'm sure there are good people somewhere, But everyone I meet Want's Drugs, Sex, Money or some other damn thing. I can't even remember the last time someone knocked on my door just to see me.

I don't know if it's this way everywhere around the world, But I sure don't like it. No one genuinely cares about anyone anymore, It's enough to make me literally close myself off from the world, Which I do.

Friendship versus the selfish gene. No satisfactory solution but beware the genes get you in the end!

The left wing, communist, snowflake, US hating people that live here.
While, I agree, And for the record, this isn't an agree, disagree thing. Political division while marketed as a modern complex issue has been around literally since established government, What makes it so unbearable in today's society is the internet and continued media campaigns that never lax. The media has become bias and they all project their unique propaganda, in short, What makes this division so bad is, instead of people just being angry about conflicting opinion, Media outlets, and news sources literally and savagely attack one another ceaselessly escalating tensions.

These are just my personal thoughts, But in my opinion, You know what is really wrong with the world today? People need confirmation from the media to make any decision, Are we in a war? Well no, Not until the news says we are.

The problem is, This isn't just a political divide anymore, This is a publicized politicized Media "war" And they are trying to drag people into the conflict, A divide is a civil thing. A Divide is a disagreement, this is not a divide, This is a politicized, biased media war, And the media simply won't own up to it.

Up until now, I always lived by & thought it was; you vote for who you want (or choose not to vote) & if that person doesn't make it, you say to yourself "Oh well. I'm sure the person that did win will have some good attributes or ideas & I get to vote again in 4 years." Like when I was in the Navy and we went from Bush to Clinton. I'd say 90% of the people in my squadron were in shock that Clinton won and didn't like it. But guess what? They all showed up for work the next day & performed and really - you didn't hear much about it. You'd hear a harmless joke here or there but that was about it. But fast forward to 2019.....now if your candidate didn't get elected, you get to do things like block traffic, pull people out of cars & punch them in the face, advocate violence, steal their property & destroy it (MAGA hats), stand together holding hands and screaming at the sky, having riots, the creation of safe spaces & automatically being labeled a racist because of who you voted for - no if's and's or but's. And what is happening in the media is unprecedented. I've never seen the media rip apart someone no matter what they say or do or rip them apart for ridiculous things like their choice of dress, the color of their hair, their kids hair etc. I've never seen politicians hate someone so much that no matter what the idea or suggestion is - they do the opposite just to go against POTUS because they can't stand him.

So much for what I said earlier with the way we used to think "Oh well, I didn't vote for the guy but he's still my president. I'm sure I'll agree with some of his policies here and there - and worst case scenario, I get to vote again in 4 years and can vote for the guy running against him." and lastly; Could you imagine the media backlash and disgusting labeling that would ensue if Paul Ryan dared not allow Obama to give the State of the Union from Congress?

I think it's the media environment, Something has changed the standard has changed, While on social media, You or I can say the wrong thing and we will be crucified for this. as far as the government goes, What they say and how they are able to say it has changed, I'm not taking political sides on any level here, But a leader of a nation can now say things like,

This other country is a shit hole, Or this person who is speaking down about my policy is a "Low IQ person" These kinds of things have brought down the standard of how an elected official should act congressionally, I view it as akin to when at school we would have a substitute teacher and this sub was so fun and wild and it got everyone riled up, but when the Teacher comes back, the entire class is out of order and she doesn't like how things were run in her stead.

I'm not saying anything bad about Trump, In fact, I may have voted for the guy, But I'm not political, Not anymore. I just want everyone to realize we aren't just one nation, Here we are even at AE other nations harmonizing together.
So to me politics mean very little,

All Im saying is, I squarely do put the blame for the childishness in how politicans are acting on Trumps example. He could be more professional in his mannor.

Is all I'm saying.

I can simply say (and I'm stealing this from someone else because when I read it, I said "Hey, that's me!"); I was an independent - but the left pushed me to the right.

He definitely could be more professional at times - but having been familiar with the guy since I was a little kid & liking how he operates - I'll put up with some of that nonsense - I'm not bothered by it. But I'll never vote left again. I feel like if I did, I would be supporting the disgusting, abusive behavior that I see all too often online.
