I think whether it is this Anders fellow or not belays the fact that Gene et al. has so poisoned the environment with suspicions of using sock puppets, pseudonyms, alias, and what not it really doesn't matter what the truth really is. Gene's rep is in the shitter.

We are all at The Paracast working on having Gene's "brand-destructive" donation calls come to an end.

This is the honest truth. But we ask you to give us a chance - it's hard starting a new online store, and yes we're drop-shipping (which is a very standard method these days - if we had funds, we would have bought wholesale - but it's not an option). Also, we want to seek out better supplier alternatives with time, possibly even brand names like Apple etc.
That is the goal.

But guys, I know how it looks with the donations - it's not a pretty sight and I asked Gene to stop it as the first thing and he wants to do that. But the only way forward from here is to create a sustainable business - this backlash doesn't help the situation.

I honestly hope you would support us in this effort.

God forbid Gene damage his brand by attempting to route donations away from natural disaster victims and to his own pockets.

Also please - what who/exactly is AL-Tech

Finally are all The Paracast LLC’s in current good legal standing? Where is the “registered office”?

Surely you’d want any potential customers to know/trust exactly who they are dealing with?

Anders - I’ve got no personal axe to grind in all of these matters - I’ve never been duped by GS myself, but the sheer weight of undeniable evidence freely accessible out there is just overwhelming- both in its content and duration. This sort of outright grifting has been going on for years and years and years. It’s not a one-off emergency it’s a total continual dependency lifestyle choice - and it stinks. Just check the sources out for yourself.

I am curious what giving you a chance means.

I am not going to buy anything from any of Gene's online stores. Neither do I listen to his shows. I liked the Biedny era Paracast; post that I was done with it. (Gene's not done with me though, I get his emails appealing for funds regularly.)

I'm not telling anyone not to buy from these online stores. I'm not doing anything to hamper anyone doing business there.

Just what are you requesting from people when you say "give us a chance"? Speaking for myself only, I'm not going to ignore present or past bad behavior from Gene, or change my opinion of him, just because he's making a fresh effort at a web store.

It was actually the begging for money, that made me contact him in the first place. I couldn't stand looking at it - as a listener of The Paracast. I thought there would be potential to create something really great and help him afoot.

One thing I can disclose, just as an example - I'm sure it won't satisfy many of you...
But, there's an upgrade available for the Forum, which seems very promising. Much better in handling sign-ups and memberships etc. It's at $199. Would be a huge upgrade for onboarding memberships for The Paracast.

All I know is, we have talked about it and he wants to do it, but he hasn't got the funds to buy it. Makes honestly no sense to me, that he would not buy it if he indeed were rich, and just pretending to be broke. Makes no sense to me at all.

And I promise you, the banner ads are tiny revenue - almost nothing. The old store didn't produce anything.

We also ran a campaign on 50% off Paracast+ 1-year subscription, didn't make anything...

Anders - paracast is just a hobby, not a business and is rapidly becoming a dead duck one at that - totally through the incredibly self-destructive behaviour of Gene himself - it was once great (years ago with Biedny and to an extent OBrien), it’s now toxic, as is Gene’s reputation (and reputation is all)
Trying to sell drop-ship cheap tat is not even going to stop this wreck from sinking let alone turn it around.
Maybe someone else owning/hosting and properly capitalising it can - should they wish (and could afford) to take a punt.

He has no intentions of paying anyone back. He still owes me money from 10 years ago.
The “Gold Standard” has become The Pathetic Beggars Tin Cup Standard.
It’s really sad... he completely destroyed a once respectable podcast.

the reason we are all hostile is the sheer magnitude of the con.

Gene gets Socal security checks. So does his wife. so where does that money go?
where does the ad money go?

Anders - looks like you’ve been conned yourself mate. Don’t beat yourself up - you’re certainly not the first, but hopefully you’ll soon be one of the last.
You sound like a fairly decent guy - if you’re being straight up. If you really want to help Gene forget all about these store fronts and just open your own wallet and empty it straight into those ever eager hands

As I promised, the Tech Night Owl Store debuted this week. There’s only one item on sale, but the offerings will be fleshed out in the weeks to come. You can check it out at www.technightowl.store.

The new Paracast Store will launch soon.

It will take a while before the new stores produce much in the way of cash flow, and I still have to survive till then.

As of today, I still need to keep up with motel payments. They are due 11 AM each day to keep a roof over my head.

Late bills have to be paid as well.
