Ignorance isn’t bliss!
I also do not believe there was a police report.
What crime was committed?
And can you imagine the response G.S. gave to a police officer who ask:
So how did her email name and phone get on the internet?
He'd have been laughed out of the police station in my time and I've not been retired that long. He's a compulsive liar!.

I believe the post is now gone.

Of course. As always the insecurity of The Great Human Turd Steinberg means that he self escalates the situation over time. So often he will give a bizarre response to a question, followed by an overly aggressive and defensive response, followed by an even more over the top response that makes him look desperate, followed by complete deletion. Now he seems to be doing the two step process of editing comments and then deleting them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Guestron is now banned as well as that used to be part of the Great Turd Overreacting toolkit. Recently he has done it less because he is so desperate to pretend there is still activity on the forum but I think he may make an exception in this case.

Gene is no different than Kal Korff. He lives in a fantasy world, is constantly on the run from some creditor or another, and is always threatening someone with "the law". At one point several years ago, Korff threatened David Biedny with criminal charges, and threatened to sue yours truly, Kevin Randle, and a host of others. Needless to say, Biedny was never charged, and nobody was ever sued.

You can take it to the bank that Gene is just another Korff. Perhaps slightly less crazy, but probably more dishonest (which is mind-boggling to contemplate).

I'm curious, too.

I believe, but do not know and cannot prove, he's bringing in something from the mails, enough to keep him sending them. I do think there's a chance it's compulsive behavior that he is not trying to (for the sake of argument, "cannot") manage rationally.

Gene himself has said more than once in the emails that he sends so many of these emails because he gets so little in response to each one (which I know is kind of a baffling attitude but, there you go). But then - is there any reason to believe what Gene says?

On the one hand, everything about these emails represents Gene's best efforts to get the recipients to not think too much or read too deep, rather to just pity him and send money. On the other hand, Gene's not exactly a mastermind and he's said some glaringly dumb or tone deaf things in these mails from time to time ("doing my share", for example).

I will say this. Last year, I forget the months now, but he ran a Facebook fundraiser for more than a month. It was titled something like, "Utterly urgent! I need help now!" and focused somewhat on his dental issues and possibly some of his wife's medical stuff. (At the time I believed this was because Facebook explicitly allows personal fundraisers for medical expenses.) My memory, and I don't have screenshots and didn't write it down, is he cleared $600 in that fundraiser, but I don't think he made more than $700. I might be wildly off. That was happening at a time of near peak Scheme Gene attention on Twitter and the UFO Trail blog and here, too. So he still had enough sympathetic believers that he might've got a car payment out of them in about, oh let's say six weeks.

I wish I remembered the details better as it might be useful as a point of data to help guess what he brings in otherwise. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was encouraging people to just send him money and bypass the FB fundraiser too, but I don't have any clear memory of that. If anyone has the details of the FB fundraiser outcome please share them!

While you can't put a price on your reputation necessarily, I feel like Gene sends so many of these damn begging emails in part because there is at least some occasional return on them, and in his mind begging costs him nothing.

I cannot prove but strongly suspect they've cost him a lot in terms of reputation, respect, trustworthiness, credibility.

I don't think he even needs the money they bring. I suspect he just keeps hoping for another windfall from a wealthy, Steinberg-sympathetic UFO enthusiast. Like maybe someone will forward one of the emails to Robert Bigelow and he'll decide to throw a few hundred thousand dollars Gene's way. (Since that's how billionaires do it?)

As one of the people who posted fake reviews, I can assure you I know Gene all too well, and gave him every benefit of the doubt, more than most.

And of course the public has the right to know the state of his personal and business finances given his constant begging and cries of poverty.

The difference between Gene and Sean David Morton is merely a matter of degree.

Also, he has absolutely no sense of humour. :)

I think there must be some kind of return. He is so lazy that I find it hard to believe it is purely a compulsion. I agree more with the idea that it is a kind of gambling for him. He keeps sending out emails like a gambler keeps betting, in the hope that the next try will make him enough money to make up for all the losses. In this case the losses are his reputational damage and the lost revenue from him resolutely refusing to work - he probably thinks that being rich (as ridiculous as the idea that would happen from begging is) will compensate him for his trashed reputation and wasted time.

The distance between serious journalist/investigator and believe anything nutjob seems to be pretty small in the paranormal field. It's amazing how many people made the transition.

The thing about the anomalous field is that zero credentials are required to establish oneself, the most pervasive bullshit artists are the ones who rise to the "top" of the fetid pile - the George Noorys, Stevie Greers, LMHs, fuck, you know the usual suspects, I spent four years identifying and outing some of them, but at the time, I was considered a villain character because I was asking hard, logical questions, that was seen as being politically incorrect. Korff lives in a fantasy world and makes shit up in a major way, I'm not sure that Steinberg is quite as nuts, but I could indeed be wrong about that, and meanwhile, both of them are meaningless, fringe players in an already outlying sandbox. It's pretty clear that Korff is invisible now (even though I am sometimes forced to explain that fucking YouTube video of him shitting through his piehole about me), and for the most part, Gene is similarly marginalized, the Paracast made some waves in those first four years, but went into a definitive decline after that, Gene simply doesn't have the mental range and genuine interest in the anomalous to maintain an interesting show, and that fact on display for all to see. The cricket-like quiet on the forums is proof that the show is essentially dead, and the fact that after how many months of creating "the store", there's only one item on it? A product of the gang that couldn't fart straight. Witness the reality that the discussions about Steinberg and his scams far surpass any discussion of the content of the show as it stands, tells you what you need to know. We're all rubbernecking as we go by the car crash, but everyone in those cars has already died.

There are more people (guests and members) in this thread alone than on his entire site at the moment...

a Gene fairy tale! one while driving my uber doing my share, I happened to pick up a known computer whiz! We talked shop and lol the computer whiz agreed to come on my failed podcast for free!
the moral of the story?
I can show now I am doing my share!
now send me cash!
love Gene!

Purely in terms of batshit crazy comedy, it's hard to beat Korff. I mean an emailed summons from an imaginary law firm is comedy gold! That's right, a summons from a law firm. A law firm that doesn't exist. Sent by email. One of those is worth a couple dozen lame panhandling messages.

For UFO humor, nothing beats Unarius.
