The Roswell wreckage of 1947 Facts from Fiction

Mebbe so. Someone (Kevin Randle maybe?) has posited that there were likely two crashes somewhat close to Roswell within the 1947-1949 timeframe. Witnesses from each crash could have assumed that what they witnessed was the same thing which crashed on the Foster Ranch.

The most compelling one to me, is the undisputable fact that the USAF sent out a press release saying they had recovered a disc. Why in the hell would they do that, unless someone with fairly high level authority had decided that they really needed to?

I wondered about that myself. Kenneth Arnold's sighting was less than a month before. Just wondering if the flying saucer excitement that was likely to have been in the news at the time made it's way to the USAAF officer at Roswell and that's how the press release got generated. Maybe it wasn't intended to be serious but got out of control. After that a 'fairly high level authority' probably said "whaaaat?" and put the clamp on it.

Brazel's ranch was near Corona about 80 miles NW of Roswell. Apparently Roswell was the closest place with any population at the time.

Then there's this...

Top secret US base houses living and dead ALIENS from Roswell UFO crash site in vaults and burial grounds, former worker claims

Retired Air Force Engineer Raymond Szymanski, who worked at the Ohio base for 39 years, makes the revelations in his book 50 Shades of Greys.

Raymond Szymanksi believes the UFOs and aliens from the infamous 1947 Roswell incident were bought to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton, Ohio for inspection and kept in secret tunnels.

The extra-terrestrial researcher, who worked as an engineer and senior scientist at WPAFB for 39 years, detailed the full extent of the "alien" activity at the base in a book called 50 Shades of Greys.

Szymanski, who is the first person to break rank and publicly talk about the “secrets” of the base, heard of the alien conspiracy during his first week at the base.

He claims his mentor Al asked him, "Have you heard about our aliens?", as he showed him around.

Szymanski claims Al went on to tell him there was a there was a system of tunnels and vaults underground at the WPAFB housing both living and deceased extra-terrestrial beings.

These are exactly the kinds of claims that get the UFO community's mouths' watering, but there is no proof for them.
Not surprisingly, most of the Amazon reviews are positive. But one of the one-star reviews is very informative:

"While the writer's style is easy to read with plenty of humor, any original content on "greys"is sorely (totally) lacking. First, the title is catchy but so misleading. While the implication from the title could be that there will be numerous discussions of "greys" (aliens) there is negligible text about "grey aliens". Most of the content in this book regarding UFOs could be easily obtained by anyone by a simple Google search. And offerings of his years of work at WPAFB reveals practically nothing of any substance, other than his reported encounter of what he believes to be a MIB ("Men In Black"). The author does tell us of his various encounters with various noted UFOlogist, such as Linda Moulton Howe and has photos to support his meeting. But there is no new UFO or WPAFB content in this book. It is a total waste of money in my opinion. Having worked inside WPAFB as a contractor for decades (beginning in the 1970s) I understand this book to be a reminder that security is job one."

Typical disinformation. He wasn't even a manager of any kind, just an engineer. No clearance, nothing. It's easy to keep an engineer blinkered because he can do his job with just need-to-know info. Manager would need more of bits and pieces of the big picture to do his part.

Szymanski just got a side job to reshuffle some old rumours, because he worked there for a long time and they trusted him.
