He's probably landed a big score through scamming a new sucker or winning at the casino. Spending money is the only thing that can distract him enough to stop begging. Won't last though, no matter how much money he got he will burn through it fast and then it will be everyone else's "duty" to bail him out.

The Paracrud is complete garbage hosted by two entitled losers, both of whom are textbook examples of the Dunning Kruger effect and the ability of the human ego to engage in grandiose self inflation and delusion.
At least one of them is a sociopathic scammer who preys on other people's kindness.
To make things worse the actual show has so many ad related interruptions that even if there were a decent discussion to be had (despite the interjections of the two morons at the helm) it would still be utterly derailed by being constantly interrupted.
You can pay money to get the ads removed but it does nothing for the interruptions. Indeed all it does is make it clear what a piece of excrement you are listening to.
Further the paid "extra" of the Paracast plus is even worse than the main show as it is merely an exercise for the two muppets at the helm to push their own pet theories and personal ego masturbation even further.
Combine the above with the fact that there are also lots of free shows available that have hosts that people enjoy listening to, speaking about interesting topics with interesting guests and you would have to be absolutely insane to subscribe to the Paracast Plus.
Even if you don't mind losing the money you will be helping a known scammer to keep his grift going - all of which makes this attempt at getting more subscriptions both ridiculous and hilarious:

Gene is right about never knowing what is going to happen on ATP, because he never has a plan for how it’s going to unfold. The same is true of the main show. The last few times I was on as a host, it was painfully clear to me that Gene had completely checked out. Listen to the episode with Scott Kolbaba to see that in the starkest relief. He hadn’t read the guy’s book, had no interest in the subject, and left it to me to carry the conversation. I swore to myself that I would never do another episode after that, and I didn’t, although Gene kept asking for several months, often with just a couple hours notice.
And then there’s the sound quality of the show. Gene makes a big deal, and does JRM, of how hard Gene works to turn out a quality show. But the audio is terrible. He does nothing to “clean it up” (as he puts it) - he clearly confines his post audio work to making sure each episode times out accurately. That’s it.

I have listened to almost every show (from 2006 when it began) until a couple of years ago and nothing has changed. Gene never ever read any of the books, never did any research or asked any decent questions. Even before the ads came in he was obsessively timing the breaks to sell his haemorrhoid books or whatever Tim Beckley was selling at the time. Besides the breaks he would only join the conversation to talk about himself, the same stuff about people he knew from Ye Olde UFO times, The Day the Earth Stood Still (it must get a mention in every episode) and whatever TV shows he was watching at the time. Even before streaming TV existed it seems he spent all day just watching every single TV series that was being shown.
I don't blame you. The show is terrible in every respect. It is especially sad considering how good it was in the early days but it should be noted that it was good in spite of Gene, certainly not because of him.
The sound quality has always been terrible. It was perhaps acceptable ten years ago when the average you had to compare to was BlogTalk radio but nowadays it is not acceptable. Even people who are completely new to podcasting seem to get much better sound quality. I suspect Gene compresses the hell out of the file to save on bandwidth costs (would be one of the rare times he tries to save money) - I also very much doubt he does anything to massage the audio quality himself. I don't think he even edits it himself. - There are a variety of services in the developing world (India most often) who will do this for you for very little money - such a tiny amount even Gene would pay it (especially given his pathological laziness).
As you suggest the timing of breaks is all that matters to him. The quality of the show is irrelevant (in his mind).
Like most things he has it backwards but God help anyone who tries to tell him.
I remember I and many others tried to explain to him how the constant interruptions from the breaks ruined the show (and was probably hindering its profitability) but like most things he arrogantly suggest that he knew best and it was the usual feeling of banging your head against a brick wall. The guy cannot and will not be helped in any way other than sending him cold hard cash. His ego and entitlement won't allow it.

As you say, many of us tried to get it through his thick head how those idiotic ads were doing far more harm than any theoretical good they might bring. Turns out he gets nothing from them but the imaginary prestige of being "on the radio". Several years ago he made a big deal about the new awesome sound quality. It still sounded like a truck driver on the highway calling C2C on a cell phone in '97. It was worth putting up with when the guests were interesting and able to get a sentence completed before Gene interrupted.
I wonder how many people actually listen now. How many listen to a whole show?

As I noted earlier, I never received the emails soliciting funds, so until I saw them in the Scheme Gene Research Group on Twitter, and on Jack Brewer’s blog, I had no idea of either content or extent. Gene did ask me for a loan once, after I was on the show in the early years when he hosted with Biedny. I told him no, and to never ask me again, and he never did. So my exposure to his direct begging was very limited. However, whenever I talked to him, he would complain about his money woes.

Gene paid for a full trail. the store returned..Anders secure in thinking Gene was going to pay came here. Gene promised more if Anders did more work. Gene's FB and Twitter were scrubbed. Anders did other work for Gene. I think the site upgrade was being worked on. Gene never paid for any of it. Anders seeing the Tech owl dead and no money rightfully bailed.

I don't believe the Anders that came on here was the "real" Anders. For one thing his English suggested to me that he was not a Scandinavian but some low paid guy from a developing country (India?) trying to act like he was European.
He may well have worked for Shopify (although the fact that he spent an inordinate amount of time working for Gene suggests otherwise). The whole persona seemed fake (again his speech patterns and manner seemed very out of place) and it seems implausible to me that someone in Scandinavia would be doing that kind of job for a low level outfit like Shopify.
Further if he was, why would a template site authorise one of their staff to do all kinds of extra work for a low level web store for a loser like Gene? It makes no sense. The whole point for Shopify is that it is a cheap barebones operation where the customer uses templates to do all this stuff himself/herself. If they start giving extra "personal" service to every customer like this they will negate any cost savings that make them profitable. Add in the fact that it took him 8 months to put up one item and it is clear the whole story was a sham.
So I suspect he was just some guy whom Gene asked to pretend to be called Anders (in exchange for some cash he never got) so that Gene could try to dig himself out of the hole he created when he invented the Anders name and story.
When fake Anders realised he wasn't going to get paid he ditched the situation and the charade. Gene did his usual thing and erased him from the narrative, acting like the whole thing never happened.

Lol. I think it may be even worse. He may have reached the point where he can talk about nothing else (he at least used to try in the newsletter). This is a collection of all his normal superhero talking points and it has no relevance to the topic at hand. That said the newsletter is usually rambling nonsense anyway this just illustrates he has completely checked out mentally.
