Gene Steinberg's Financial Shenanigans @ Paracast forums

A pretty hot deal here, in an appeal for volunteers to work on the Paracast. Can you imagine the power of a letter of appreciation from the likes of GS and JRM? You could write your own ticket in the world of... uh... the unemployable, I guess?

So it seems Gene is looking for new slaves to do all the work on HIS failing podcast. The guy has nothing else to do yet he is so lazy that the only thing he does is too much work for him. Why start your own podcast when you can work for Gene for no pay, so that he can take the credit and cash all the cheques? I mean it worked for Chris O'Brien for the best part of a decade. As an added bonus you get the cache of having the name of a man who is known only for his grifting on your resume - his personal recommendation how wonderful. I'm sure that will come in useful when you apply to join your next scam.

I also wonder if this is Gene looking for new people to replace Randall when he inevitably bails on the Paracrud disaster.

So this is the follow up post from Randall. It seems he wants to do no work at all for the show beyond turning up for the interview. This really makes me think that they are both preparing for him to leave or at least for it to be easy for him to go at short notice.

I have a feeling that he is finding it almost impossible to find guests, is unpaid, is finally recognizing that his, ahem, reputation is being affected, and doesn't want to do that any more. Steinberg obviously does nothing beyond rooting around for apostates on his forums (and that requires almost no time at all these days owing to the general lack of traffic). Imagine how thick and stupid you would have to be to want to volunteer for such a dying fiasco of a show, and wanting to have such an experience on your resume. My guess is that you'd have a hard time finding a job reading the morning farm report on a local station in North Dakota behind a resume like that.

Can you imagine getting a letter of appreciation from Steinberg for your resume? You only need to be his slave for six months. This is the best laugh I have had in awhile.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any dumber. :huh8:

He may realize their recent slew of guests are not great and be hoping to tap into some folks he is either not able to get or not thinking of or too busy to contact or who knows. Doesn't mean GS will be interested in the interviews though, or that JRM will be a better interviewer.

I'm sure that brown tongue in chief (TSDR) is still available to help out (in any and all ways he can) including helping with the interviews (either as guest or cohost).

Do these members who become guests realize what is happening? Steinberg and Murphy can’t find guests so they get desperate and invite anyone who they can get to show up and fill space. No one actually cares about their uninformed opinions. I listened to a few of these member chat festivals. Most are quite lame.

What I find comical as well, is that here you have two unemployed grown men (I don’t consider Steinberg to be a worker bee) who want their listeners to keep the podcast going. How f*****g lazy are these two?? According to Steinberg, now that he has a “redesigned” website, he should be rolling in the dough.

Those posts speak of desperation, nothing more.

I interpret it as, I'm tired of doing the Paracast, but I want to keep doing the Paracast. Please, someone, make it easier for me to do the Paracast.

It's a little ponzi-ish almost, Gene has Randall and now Randall wants to recruit additional minions? You can't all be the next George Noory, fellas!

Admittedly if it were decent and rational human beings producing a quality result who were asking for additional assistance, I wouldn't have mean things to say about it. The idea of someone putting a letter from GS on their resume was too much to pass up.

Steinberg builds his whole snooty, condescending persona off the fact that he is a radio host - when in fact he just has a 3rd rate podcast which is badly produced, littered with garbage adverts and equally garbage guests.

To make things worse he spends his entire time mentally checked out and timing ad breaks whilst his brain dead sidekick tries to exercise false intellectual superiority over the guest and audience (very badly).

Both of them pay zero attention to the quality of the show or even listening to their guests preferring to spend their time talking about their own pet topics (for Gene it is himself and pop culture, for Randalbot it is ego stroking navel gazing about the topic itself) - both of which make for excruciating listening. The only hope for entertainment comes from the hope that it might cross the threshold of being so bad that it might actually be good.

Why anyone would want to join what has become a pointless exercise in old geezer ego masturbation is beyond me (yes I know Randalbot isn't that old but he acts like one of those old bow tie wearing professors of advanced age who have lost their faculties but still think they are making sense).

You would ruin your own reputation and any possible prospect of being taken seriously if you did. Now if they were paying big bucks for it you might see that as a rational economic decision - not particularly respectable to give up your reputation for money but I suppose we all have to pay the bills.

The problem here is that neither of these two buffoons have two pennies to rub together and even if they did we know for certain that Gene never pays anyone for anything EVER. Now maybe Randal would (if we give him the benefit of the doubt) but we all know that he gets nothing from the show - all the revenue (if there still is any revenue) goes to Gene who launches it on a rocket into the infinite black hole where all the rest of his money goes.

They are both welfare dependent manlets.

So basically the only kind of person who would apply for working on the Paracrud would be someone who was both independently rich and criminally insane to the point where they didn't care about destroying their own reputation and working for zero pay.

Maybe they will strike it lucky and find such a person and maybe Gene will be able to con him or her into make him a substantial personal loan (in Torson fashion). Maybe that is the actual plan.

In years gone by Steinberg and his co-hosts would get many good questions from the membership to ask the guests. Now that Steinberg has banned a great number of the members, someone has to actually do a little leg work in order to have a conversation.

It's no wonder they both have to beg members to bail their lazy asses out.

I'm seriously starting to think that Gene is incapable of discussing anything other than comics, movies and TV shows (well apart from himself and the obligatory "Tales of Gene").

It's like he is blind to the excruciating repetitiveness of what he says. How many times has he made these same points?

Now it is in this week's Newsletter - note also how he MUST put "by Gene Steinberg" on this, despite the fact that everyone who receives this will know who wrote it.

It is like he really thinks it is a great piece of literature that will be discussed throughout the ages and not a newsletter for a dead podcast that probably ends up in most people's spam folder:

Seems like some sort of free association ramble through a bunch of his favorite TV shows and related media.

Steinberg has this love affair for Ray Palmer of Fate Magazine fame. I read the biography of Palmer a couple of years ago. Steinberg and Palmer are cut from the same cloth. They both are/were scam artists. Small wonder Steinberg likes to bring his name up.

Looks like a University education doesn't preclude you from becoming a crackpot.

Brooks is a proponent of the very real science that supports a Hollow Earth and his heading of an expedition through uncharted Arctic territory to prove it once and for all.

Very real science? ROFL. Hollow Earth is the delusion of a known schizophrenic from the 1950s. I wonder if he is also looking into the real science of how the moon is made of cheese.

This one should be a real car crash. Seems they aren't even trying to get decent guests on now.
