I've been out of the country so no beggings from the grifter anymore? What happened? Lottery? Big win at Casino? Inquiring minds want to know!

It's a mystery. Is he still posting at his windblown forum? Maybe he up and died.

Not possible. Gene is strangely invincible. Like a cockroach after an atomic blast. He will probably outlive us all. Perhaps the reason he is not interested in the paranormal is because he is some kind of alien entity himself. He came to Earth to save the comics especially Supergirl. Perhaps he can write an autobiography - as a trilogy of course, but only two parts will be released.

What was Gene's asking price for the TechNightOwl? Wasnt it going for a "bargain"? Im waiting for him to put The Paracast on the market for $50,000. Its worth that isnt it? With its 10s of 1000s of listeners and booming forum. Advertisers must be mad if they dont get on board to spruik their wares on that show.

In Mr Snooty's opinion he would consider that an insulting valuation. I think in his mind there would be a minimum of two zeros added to it. I mean he got almost that much for nothing out of Mr Torsen. You can't expect him to give a similar valuation to something that he actually thinks is valuable.

I came in late to all this.. Who is Mr. Torsen and how much did Gene take off him...?

Some poor guy who thought he was a friend of Gene (big mistake). He gave him $40K as a temporary loan (because as always Gene was in a dire emergency) and Gene promised to pay it back promptly. He never paid it back - gave him the kind of run around, excuses, lies etc. that any conman would, and then used bankruptcy to discharge the loan.

- So Mr Torsen will never get his money back. Evidently he was not a wealthy man either so goodness only knows where he got the money from - maybe his pension or life savings, even worse maybe he took out a loan himself.

He paid the price for going the extra mile to help "famous radio host Gene Steinberg". He lost the money and will never be able to recover it due to the bankruptcy.

It's terrible not just on the level of scumbaggery used, but also on the fact that bankruptcy was never meant as a way of con men getting away with ripping people off. It was supposed to allow entrepreneurs who were unlucky to start again.

Gene is nothing of the sort. He is a serial scammer who never has any intention of paying any debt back and bankruptcy allows him to keep starting with a clean slate. - Such a stand up guy and people are still falling over themselves to come on his show.

Imagine if there are more like this Mr. Torsen. There could be a dozen of them.

It's hard for me not to think that's what Gene Steinberg was hoping for whenever he sent out his emails. How often that dream came true, who knows? I think the dollars he owed to Torson in his bankruptcy filing were ultimately in the $43,000 to $48,000 range but I might be thinking too high there.

The info is available at the UFO Trail, both the bankruptcy filing and the lawsuit Torson filed against Steinberg. My memory of the lawsuit is Steinberg 'started small' with Torson (maybe $6K? $10K?) then kept asking for more money. Again though I could be off but the info is all there if you want to go through the UFO Trail blog posts on the Steinberg saga.

I don't know how many times Gene Steinberg scammed people out of Torson level dollars but keep in mind we know he got more than $1,000 at a time from others who were moved by his please and wanted to help him.

And I'd argue depending on an individual's personal finances, giving ~$1,000 can be as or more impactful than loaning ~$40,000.

We and others can and do treat GS like a big joke, but he's done some real damage and has some serious problems.

I don't have the time or energy to go through the figures, but certainly if you look at the lawsuits that were brought against Gene from lending companies, car repossession debts, money owed landlords, and the like - many of which were discharged through the bankruptcy petition - there was substantial money apart from Torson.

We will never know how much money was given to Gene in response to his pleas over the years.

His abrupt silence was a little surprising. I had expected further solicitations to help cover the cost of moving, storage, cars, or other expenses, but perhaps Gene finally realized that a constant stream of solicitations was doing more harm than good.

He always appeared to have the resources to pay for housing, supplemental Medicare insurance, and to meet whatever deadlines he faced. And there were always resources available to him if he qualified as a low income senior. So I hope he truly has moved on, although it must be tempting to make one more pitch.

Gene never took personal responsibility for his situation or his false statements through the years. He has a long way to go before credibility can be restored. If he is counting on a new base of listeners, or those who have a short memory, to keep the his shows going or to buy things from his store, I don't see what either has to offer.

At least there are no current eviction actions against him.

Haven’t been tempted to listen to any recent podcasts and the Paracast community is pretty much dead too apart from the odd crank or sycophant - but I had to laugh when I now see that we have the return of a guy who’s surely got to be the biggest bore in the Galaxy - namely one Don Ecker !! I think I’d rather listen to the ads!

I’ll bet you $100 that Don Ecker finally put a stop to the chain. Regardless of whether you find him entertaining or boring, he seems like a pretty stand-up (crotchety) guy.

He was entertaining a long time ago. But after you've heard the same recycled stories for the seventeenth time… Pretty much the same from Grifty Gene, I guess. These old wankers still like an outlet I suppose. No reason the rest of us need to listen to it, as you can see by the stank of death that lingers everywhere in the Steinberg universe.
