Gene Steinberg's Financial Shenanigans @ Paracast forums

Apple has a new Mac Pro coming out shortly. It will cost $6000 for the base model.

Gene will need one of those but obviously not the base model - a decent specced version will easily cost double that. There is also a $6000 monitor. Gene will also need that along with the $1000 stand.

Despite Gene considering himself some kind of journalistic authority and a real big name in the Apple news/podcast community he is a complete nobody so there is no chance for Apple to even temporary loan him the Mac Pro or Monitor even just for review purposes - let alone letting him keep one for favourable coverage.

I'm sure he has probably tried though and they likely laughed in his face.

Anyway this means he will need to sucker more poor saps to get the $20k plus to get a well specced Mac Pro with the crazy monitor.

So this might be why he felt "forced" to restart the lazy email grifting.

He is probably already withholding paying rent in the new place - so he can do "his share" to contribute to the Mac Pro fund. Now it's up to everyone else to do the rest.

From Steinberg's latest griftbeg: "This is the sort of nonsense I’ve had to confront for several years now with little letup."

There was a letup. It was when he put his grifting on pause. He literally cannot put 1 + 1 together.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
affordable = out of our budget.
in a decent neighborhood = gated/ luxury
then there is this gem.

In the meantime, the online stalkers continue to spew their filth. I continue to receive emails containing such offensive material as inquiries about my wife’s bathroom habits. This is the sort of nonsense I’ve had to confront for several years now with little letup.

Gene I know you read this so .
please forward all those emails to me.
I unblocked you for 30 day.
any email you send that does not contain a forwarded offending email
will be ignored

I would love to know how he managed to wrangle a new apartment. At this point even the most minimal background check would cause a prospective landlord to run a mile. Even googling his name would be enough.

Could there have been a big donor?

It's possible he scammed someone else to give him the money, but that would still not explain why a landlord would accept him. Anyone who checked his history would see that he is a professional squatter so why would they take the risk even if he had the money?

If Steinberg is in a new apartment, he had to lie to move in. He told the Apt. Manager it was a different Steinberg who did all that lying and cheating.

Just know, the countdown begins now when he screws over the manager for his next's months rent.

Yeah, there's no chance he's learned any lessons or changed his ways. He thinks paying the rent only as a last resort to stave off eviction is just the smart way to operate. Likely he's found a landlord where he thinks he can get away with this again.

How many more emails do we see out of him this month?

I'll guess at least one more, probably two.

I'll be a little conservative and suggest he's not going to return (just yet) to daily or even every 2-3 days with the emails, but I bet he'll get back on track for 4-6 a month soon enough, and activity could build from there if something has him exercised enough.

The shadow

My theory is he sold the tech owl.
he got way more than it was worth.
he then used the cash to move.
now his reserves are low . and the grift begins again.
one wonders what luxury gated community he is blighting.

I don't know though... Scheme Gene announced in his June 30 Paracast Newsletter that he was discontinuing the Tech Night Owl, with the last show coming July 6. I realize he is a very dishonest person but, I feel like if he sold it he'd want to gloat about it a little somewhere, not just say it's shut down. I could be wrong.

But, also, I cannot imagine anyone wanting to buy the Tech Night Owl, other than maybe as a charity gesture. I just can't see how there would have been any value in it. Others may disagree.

Steinberg's enduring legacy is such that there are lots of people who are now curious about the disaster that he has wrought for himself (and that he has become). And there only needs to be one who is curious enough to run a skip trace or other check on him and discover if he has an apartment and where it may be. Those now cost a pittance and require next to no effort at all.

Sure, he may have lied, phonied up a dummy LLC, or used a relative. But those are easy to check as well, as it's not like he has made lots of new friends in the past few years. And I'm sure even his dumbest old friends aren't gonna want any legal or financial entanglements with him. Plus, because of unsatisfied legal judgements, he has paper on him. If he has landed recently, I'd guess it will only take a month or two before the data settles, someone makes a tiny effort to find it, and spills the beans.
