Drone UFO Sightings - CARET Program?

I heard a few things on Coast to Coast AM in the past about these drone UFOs, but it didn't get my attention until recently, what do you think of these drones and their origins?...Tom Delonge mention these on social media too...

So, in 1984, the CARET program was created with the aim of harnessing the abilities of private industry in silicon valley and applying it to the ongoing task of understanding extra-terrestrial technology.

Good gawd!

When y'all were hanging out at that other site, that I did't know about, I was on UFO Casebook forum and other places dealing with this crap. I spent waaaaayyyy too much time digging into who was behind it, but I made some good friends and had a lot of fun. Learned some things too. Anyway, the "California Drones", the CARET bs and all the rest is as real as Bob Lazar's shit. Delong should know better.

Yeah it's been going around Twitter lately, started with someone digging up that two year old post from Delonge...I had scarcely heard of this before, until recently...

...

I didn't notice the date on that post. Fortunately, it didn't get any traction. Still, no one takes that stuff seriously and Delonge needs to steer clear of such traps. It's the modern equivalent of the dumbest contactee nonsense.

It was a carefully orchestrated hoax though, with considerable resources behind it. We never did nail down just who paid for it all, but we were 98% sure we knew who did most of the photoshop work. He posted on several forums, carefully (and sometimes apparently desperately) trying to cover his ass. We liked him, and knew he was not the originator (just a very talented contractor) so we didn't beat him up too badly. There was a group of shills who signed up on various forums in the weeks leading up to the photos hitting the web, and they were very obviously involved somehow. Probably pawns too. We had a lot of fun catching them out, pointing out gaping holes in their stories, and such like.

I went into the "investigation" as a subscriber to LMH's site and Whitley Strieber's too. I learned that choosing LMH as an outlet was astute, as she posts whatever she gets that she likes the looks or sound of, no significant questions asked. It's really quite remarkable, but also sad because she had built a reputation on good work in the past. Coast to Coast was the first place the photos turned up, and of course they are not terribly fussy about facts, especially when the story and photos are exciting.

Nope. That was pretty frustrating. There were theories of course. The one that made the most sense to me, and the one that had the best circumstantial evidence for it, in my opinion, was that it was the work of a movie studio or something closely related. There were plenty of hints, but nothing solid. I'm sure that was no accident. I saw what I referred to as "corporate control" written all over the saga. We were certain we were dealing with people who had signed non-disclosure agreements, no matter what sort of entity was behind it. Some thought it was a student prank or something, but those don't usually have real money behind them, and eventually someone blabs or brags. The lid was on tight, and probably still is.

When UFO Casebook Forum dissolved into the ether, last year I think it was, a ton of good work was lost. There were dozens of threads, some with hundreds of pages, chock full of impressive research done by interested amateurs. I functioned mainly as an analyst, though I did not shy away from the down and dirty and sometimes bare-knuckled rough and tumble. Many others brought high skills in CGI and related fields, and my best friend in that mess was a guy who could blow your mind when he got to digging online. The guy was scary. Turned out he's a librarian. Librarians are awesome. Another fellow was so good and meticulous at analysis of evidence and data that he made my work look like child's play. He was also a hell of a forum moderator, making surgical edits on the fly in threads what were getting wildly out of hand. He seemed to really enjoy it. He remodeled quite a number of my posts, and I always admired his work.

The old Open Minds Forum is where most of that stuff got started, but it has been gone for upwards of ten years, if memory serves. There was a lot of good work done there, pretty much in spite of the efforts of the proprietor. He turned out to be a real nutter. There is a long thread at ATS with what I suspect is the last significant cache of good work left online. It's a little weird when you think the whole thing started in the Spring of '07. Now there is little left of any real investigation to be found online.
