So, I've been super active lately. More so than I have been in years. The payoff to this is severalfold, I worked in the sun building on a garage all day When the sun hit sunset I push mowed my lawn drank a diet doctor pepper, And yeah, We can debate which diet soda tastes the best if you want, but I've tried them all Coke zero and Pepsi 0 Taste fine for covering up that they are diet soda, But Nothing tastes more like the nondiet than diet doctor pepper. Yeah, That was pointless, Sorry about that. Anyway, I have so much energy I can't really sleep, I honestly feel like getting up and jogging or something.
On to my point, I don't know how many people ever stop to consider how important a Great community really is to their overall mental, Some of you, May remember me from as far back as five years ago, Back then, I was an angry person who was always looking for a win. And I would fight for that win and usually. I won because the other guy got tired of debating, What, It's a fair tactic. But, Years of being part of a great community has literally taught me very important life lessons, Years of Fighting with truly Good people, Have taught me that A fight is not the end of the world, And not only that, You don't have to fight that fight like it is the end of the world. It's taught me that Good people possess a certain amount of understanding and even forgiveness when we make mistakes. Better still, It's taught me my hardest learned lesson of all, How to properly disagree with others without making a fool out of myself. This is something one can only learn from experience, with concepts like the diplomacy that the really great amoung us use in their debates.
Some people are experts at never losing their cool, That's something I was never able to master. But, It's something I've learned to strive for and it's helped me in areas of my life that had nothing to do with the online world. recently, I Ended up in a very bad argument with my entire family, "It's a long story and there is a thread about it" But people said some really mean really rude things to me, Of course, a person's first instinct is fight or flight, And truly most people would have gotten angry and bitterly argued with them. Instead, I told them all, they were my family and I loved them, and it wasn't a requirement that they agree with my decisions in life, That All I ask is they understand that I'm not coming from some dark bitter place looking for arguments and drama.
This is something, I learned from here At AE, On these forums, How to properly disagree with people, without letting the situation turn into something bitter. The diplomacy I used Worked like a charm, They were all telling me that they understood my point of view and even loved me. This was a large group of people ready to disown me and What I learned about social skills from here at this very forum really helped me tactfully navigate a very difficult situation. Maybe, Not everyone has the same issues I have, Maybe not everyone needs to learn the same lessons I had too, But regardless, If you hang around great people for long enough, sometimes you get lucky and some of that greatness rubs off on you.
That's really all I had to say, I do feel fully that if it wasn't for my years of experience debating here. That I wouldn't have known how to handle the situation. I think AE is a great place with a lot of good people and there is something here for everyone. You won't find a better group of people anywhere on planet earth.
