Footsteps, Voices, Sounds (continued)

It seems that there MAY be an escalation in the activity.

I work long hours, and so I've been known to take a "power nap" here and there. A couple weeks ago, I was in my office, I'd finished lunch, and like last time, I was waiting for some people who were supposed to come around 13:00.

I dozed off in my chair and woke up to the sound of voices in the main room, looked at the clock, it was 12:45 and I thought "They're here early." I jumped up, stepped out the door ... nobody. It was then I realized that I'd heard voices but hadn't heard what they were saying. It was loud and clear but at the same time, like listening under water. I hadn't actually heard the words.

I put it down to being tired and forgot about it. They showed up about five minutes later.

Then, yesterday, I had an even stronger experience.

I was on a break, sitting back in my chair, closing my eyes, every now and then sitting up and checking the time until my next meeting. So I wasn't completely asleep. I thought I was awake ... but it's very possible I fell asleep. I've been more tired than usual recently.

Suddenly, I heard a whisper RIGHT in my ear, and I could feel the breath on my ear: "Wake up!"

I almost jumped out of my chair, thinking that the people I work with were having a bit of fun with me and had somehow sneaked up on me without me hearing the door, only again, it was only me.

Now again, I might have dozed off and dreamed it, but it was SO vivid, and in my mind, I had just been sitting back in my chair with my eyes closed.

IF (and it's a very big if) this is a continuation of the activity in the room, it's a big step up from the footsteps.

That would be creepy to me the first time experiencing a whisper like that, gave me shivers up my arm reading this lol...

Any recent unexplained footsteps, sounds, or voices?...

Actually, just last week I was walking down a hallway in my building. Some of the rooms have two sliding doors at each end of the room that open on the hallway. One of the sliding doors was open and as I looked in, I saw a young woman sitting alone in the room. When I got to the second door, I thought "Maybe I should just pop my head in and say 'hi', make sure she's okay." because it wasn't like she was reading or anything, she was just sitting there with her arms at her sides, her chair turned away from the desk, not doing anything.

When I poked my head in the next door, the room was empty.

There was no way she walked out of the room. I would have seen her. I would have heard her. There was simply no one in the room.

Now, I was walking down the hallway, and saw her more or less out of the corner of my eye, but she looked so VIVID. Even though I glimpsed her out of the corner of my eye, she seemed so clear. So it's totally possible I just imagined her, but it's still very odd. She was much more clear than some of the other "vanishing" people I've seen in my building.

In my building, I used to see an elderly woman walking down the hall. I saw a middle-aged man walking out of my room a few times. And this is maybe the third time I've glimpsed a young woman.

Did you know the young woman you saw sitting there, or were you just being polite in general? The reason I ask is that if you know her it would be easy enough to talk to her about your experience?

Is there anything in the room she could have been behind, like a cubical wall or tall cabinet or something?...Maybe she was an aberration, although a very clear manifestation?...

No. It wasn't anybody I recognized, but then that's pretty normal. There are a lot of people I don't work with directly and I don't really know who they are since I mostly keep to my own room.

...

No. There was nothing in there she could hide behind. It was all tables and chairs.

As I said, it's just one of those "corner of the eyes" things, but it happens a lot where I work, and no much anywhere else.

I had a run in with a full apparition once at an Etruscan art exhibit, even shook his hand. i must`ve rubbed my hand on my pants leg for a week.still gives me shivers that cold firm hand shake. It is one of the best encounters i have ever had, if you want to call it that.

Had another experience today. Twice a week, I help with an end-of-shift cleaning time, cleaning a little-used staircase on one side of the building (in Japan, it's not unusual for workers to be responsible for cleaning the workplace, and for students to be responsible for cleaning their schools). We actually have a cleaning person who works part-time cleaning the facility, but at the end of the main shift each day, everybody not otherwise occupied has a cleaning station.

So anyway, I got to the staircase early and went down to the first floor to wait for the other cleaners, and so I was standing in a doorway at the end of a long hallway, occasionally chatting to people passing by, and looking down the hall for the other cleaners.

And again, it's kind of a corner of the eye deal, but I looked up and thought I saw someone going through a doorway at the far end of the hall. From where I was, it looked like they had opened the door about halfway, and were slipping through the doorway, and I thought I saw the door close behind them.

This was weird because I've worked here for over 15 years, and I don't recall that doorway ever NOT being locked. In fact, I'm not 100% certain what's behind that door. I've always assumed it's boilers or generators, or storage, etc. I've never had a reason to look, and as far as I know, nobody's looked in there for years. It's always locked. This is NOT that unusual. We've downscaled a bit, and there are areas that we don't use, there are storage areas that get used a couple times a year, we've got a whole building that's basically empty most of the time ... So a locked door in and of itself isn't that disconcerting here.

What was disconcerting is seeing a young woman wearing a light colored top and dark colored trousers going through the door.

So I thought "That was weird." And I waited, and watched, expecting her to come back out. After all, it's almost cleaning time, maybe they were getting something from storage (or whatever is back there). Only nobody came.

Finally, curiosity got the better of me, and the other cleaners were still working, so I walked down the hall (about 50, maybe 60 meters) and tried the door. Locked. And I really doubt they went in there and locked themselves in. I think that door was never open. I just thought I saw it open and equally thought I saw someone disappear inside.

But it's weird.

Funny thing is, the first house I lived in, I kept seeing a young woman on the staircase, especially at night. We eventually had the house torn down, and built a new house in its place. Haven't seen her since.

I generally don't see people who aren't there ... except at work, where it seems to happen pretty regularly.

I went to another building in the complex, right next to where I work, and stopped for a second to talk with someone, and she told me that last night, in her building, she and another person saw a ghost, but she was a little bit upset because she had told a couple supervisors but they didn't believe her. I talked to her about it, and also to the person who was working with her last night, and they said they were working late and looked up and saw a black "shadow" standing in the doorway. They said it was completely black.

I did the usual "maybe it was the guard", "maybe it was ..." but they said "No. It wasn't a person. They didn't have any feet!"

She also told me that she had seen a ghost before (twice) in the building that's hardly ever used.

She was a bit unnerved by it, but I told her it didn't mean her any harm, and was just looking. I said "If it comes in the room, run, but otherwise, I think it's okay." I told I wish I could have seen it!

I guess ghosts would be a tricky subject for employers to deal with. I doubt they could have a meeting about the problem. It could go down something like "Merry Christmas everyone and BTW the place is haunted!"

Had another experience this week. Almost forgot to post it. Actually TWO experiences ... maybe.

1. I came back from lunch and walked from the hall through the double doors into my office area. As I walked to my desk, I heard what sounded like half-way between a cough and a really short laugh, like "ha", almost like someone said "aha" while coughing. The sound came from the main room which is separated from my office area by a kind of interior office add-on walling, open at the top and bottom. I'd been expecting some people after lunch, and so I thought "oh, they must be early", but when I walked through the door into the main room, nobody was there. It had sounded like it had come from the table nearest my desk, where we often sit to do work when there are only a few of us, so I even had an idea of which table the sound came from. There was no way anyone could have left. I could see all the doors. None of them had been opened. I was alone in the room.

2. Today, I was in the main room, sitting at the table and talking and going over some things, and suddenly there was a loud pop. Now, I'm actually kinda used to noises in that room, as I often here odd noises, but this was louder than usual so I stood up to see if I could see what made the sound. The lid of the trashcan was on the floor. It had popped off the trashcan and landed upside down next to the trash can. Now, I usually keep the lid fastened down, but occasionally, someone throws something away and neglects lock it. If they remove the lid to throw something away and aren't careful, it could fall off, and thinking back, I THINK someone had thrown something away earlier ... maybe ten minutes? I'm not sure, because I wasn't paying close attention. So it may not be weird at all. Probably just gravity. But this IS the second time that's happened, where the lid popped off when nobody was around it, and even if it's not paranormal, it's a little disconcerting.

Have there been any previous activity around that table or in that particular area?...Were all the lights on in that area?...
