For the record, I don't have a political leaning, Whatever happens, happens, I feel it's idiotic to get irate and argue over such a thing as this, If half the nation has a different opinion than me personally, that's half the nation, it's at least worth respecting. No rather, I worry about Riots and arguments and divisions causing disruption and chaos.

I'm just curious about what the collective thought is. This isn't a politically Bias thing. It's just in most of our lives we have never been this close to seeing a president removed. And The vote is later today.

What do you guys think? Will the Vote be fair? Is the process fair? Will we have someone else in the office before the day is out?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Trump lashes out in a six-page letter to Pelosi on eve of impeachment, Calling it A liable vicious spiteful partisan crusade, Disengenuinoious meritless and baseless, Siting that Pelosi has Hate in her heart for Trump and he compares the whole process to the Salem witch trials.

keep in mind, none of this is posted with political lean, I feel that it's an important, possibly historical topic as Trump is only the Third president to ever be impeached, It's worth a casual mention.

For those that may want to watch here is some live coverage Of the Debate leading up to the Vote.

Fratty and out of touch.
I've been avoiding social media the last couple of weeks because of the impeachment. I really hate the way people are continually trying to bait others into the debate. I especially hate the fact that at times I've taken the bait and allowed myself to be suckered in.

As for the impeachment process itself, it requires a 2/3 majority vote in the US Senate to remove a president from office. Currently the Republicans hold 53 seats. It is extremely unlikely any Reps will vote for impeachment so the Dems most likely will be unable to even achieve even a simple majority.

I've been studying up on this whole ordeal, It seems that there is a lot to know about impeachment, Yesterday. Was indeed an almost meaningless stage show, I didn't know this and I'm guessing a lot of others didn't aswell,

The House had their vote, This was a Majority House democratic vote, this is why Republican's seems to keep coming up with losses yesterday, As the house is primarily Democrats, There is still the senate Vote which is primarily republican.
Pelosi is trying to stall the Senate Vote.

As I've stated I don't take a political lean, But, It seems there is a lot to know about how these proceedings actually work.
It's insane honestly. All the impeachment means at the moment is, Now they can formally bring president Trump up on charges. Which still has to pass through the Primarily Republican senate.

Politics are insanity it seems.

This is bad theater and history will not judge any of it kindly. The rest of the world is laughing at us.

In light of it all, I don't suppose anyone remembers that Russian spy ship off the east coast yesterday?

On the Day of the house vote for impeachment no less, That's scary because it tells me Russia knows U.S politics very intimately.

I'd be surprised the day there WASN'T a Russian spy ship somewhere snooping.

Russia has a decrepit military and their only real playing card is gas. Keeping a lot of German backsides warm these days. They are heavily dependent upon conscription and do not have the ability to project power they way they used to. They aren't the Soviet Union anymore. In fact, really only the US can do that effectively. I just wish we'd stop proving that.

What they are very good at is what the Pakistanis excel at - asymmetric warfare. Intelligence and counterintelligence. And what's even better, our nonsensical news-cycle driven venal political system literally awarded them credit for far more success than they ever imagined. Putin isn't The Devil - he's some mix of KGB and Maifioso. The sort of creature that thrived on the chaos post- collapse. Nice guys didn't last long and whatever he's actually guilty of would probably be stomach turning. But most mouth breathers here in the US can understand what a villain is, those that realize the Emperor Palpatine isn't real that is, and Putin has been made into a boogeyman well out of proportion with reality.

They may succeed in impeachement, but they wont be able to remove him from office.

They are just setting a precedent whereby being re elected after being impeached shows that it means nothing.

The way I understand it, the Senate still has to vote on impeachment, Now, Everyone expects the Senant to lean republican, But, in the event that somehow the senate does vote majority to impeach him, then yeah he will be removed from office. It's tricky how it's set up, Yesterdays Vote was the house vote, which is primarily democrat, The senate, however, is primarily republican, and to boot this, for the president to be impeached by the senate It must be a majority two thirds to impeach. I don't know why this is, but yeah the vote in the senate must be overwhelming. However, Pelosi is trying to stop the senate vote. or put it on hold. But if somehow the senate does vote Yea on the articles of impeachment, He will be removed from office that very day brother.

True, This is why Pelosi is trying to delay the Senate Vote, This whole thing was all a stage show to try and Harm his reelection. While I don't possess a political lean, It was a slimy move on the democratic part, This whole thing for as much as they claim to detest interference with the elections, Was their attempt to interfere with Trump's reelection. Which wreaks of slimy swampiness.

Credit to the NY Post for mentioning this. Hadn't thought of it since '98.

Impeachment Clauses: Alexander Hamilton, Federalist, no. 65, 439--45

A well constituted court for the trial of impeachments, is an object not more to be desired than difficult to be obtained in a government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or in other words from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself. The prosecution of them, for this reason, will seldom fail to agitate the passions of the whole community, and to divide it into parties, more or less friendly or inimical, to the accused. In many cases, it will connect itself with the pre-existing factions, and will inlist all their animosities, partialities, influence and interest on one side, or on the other; and in such cases there will always be the greatest danger, that the decision will be regulated more by the comparitive strength of parties than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt.

That sounds very much like hearing about impeachment from sore losers ten seconds after the man was elected

Pelosi isn't stupid and they must know they've already lost 2020. This is probably about posturing for the post-election tumult.

Hey - despite the existential crisis she and some colleagues from the other side of the aisle still managed to get in a nice European getaway on our dime. Someone probably had to explain to her what the Battle of the Bulge was. She would have referred the matter to her plastic surgeon otherwise.

I grant that She isn't a pushover, I think that's how she ended up as speaker of the house. She was the sharp pointy part of the spear the Dems needed to oppose Trump. If she has ever done one thing I thoroughly enjoyed It was her dispute with Cortez, To see the young upstart who thought looks alone could carry her all the way to the top be put in her place by mother time, It was Epic lol :D

So very true, It was Nice to see her taken down a few pegs :) Someone who got so far just based on sex appeal alone Would have sold out to anyone with fifty bucks and a bottle of wine, I'm glad she lost her Mojo.

In fairness though, Pelosi wasn't unhot when she was young though.
