Fratty and out of touch.
Ever run into somebody from work that you haven't seen in a long time? Took sixty seconds for me to remember why I never had much to do with that guy in years past. Some people are as exciting as crumbly cheese.

When I run into people I haven't seen in a long time and they recognize me but I don't recognize them, I take it as a compliment because it tells me I'm aging better than them. :smile2:

This year of 2019 has been a rough year for me, of course there are others who have had things harder, but if counted in terms of wins and losses, there were more losses for me this year...To top that off, just recently I lost a dear friend whom I've known and befriended for almost 20 years...In the past I've helped him get out of dark places in his life and I thought that all was behind him now and it seemed things were going well for many years...But he has recently went down a path that I cannot follow, not even to help him out, he will have to find his own way now...I lost a good friend but I mourn because of what he will be facing in his near future and there is nothing I can do to help him...

And so the gifts are under the tree. the kids in bed. And in the quiet of the night.. the lights down low the lights of the tree blinking. I can not ask for a better night. My wonderful wife is right.
on this night it is all about family and love. all I can ask for.
Peace
Bob

Congratulations, that's a nice raise and nice bonus to boot...q37

My job has been an anchor of stability for the most part this year through all the other turbulence and I am making more money now than I have made before in the past...I didn't get any raises this year and only a gift card for a bonus but that's alright by me, I'm thankful I have a good job...

Its actually been really busy at work for me today and yesterday, and I have to work at least half a day tomorrow...We had multiple PLC failures on two large automated machinery lines, and we have a skeleton crew because of holidays, people using up vacation and whatnot...So we are scarce on technicians and besides myself only one other guy understands PLC programming, so I took the lead on these jobs...We lost one CPU of the master PLC and we happened to have two dead PLCs of the same type, so I built one operational one out of the three damaged ones and it accepted all the programming and is operational now...Tomorrow I have to finish on that machinery by troubleshooting and possibly repair the programming on the HMI, we think the equipment got a power surge, damaging random areas in its systems...

I think @Shadowprophet is rubbing off on me. Here's something that happened last night that is causing me some angst.

Left my local Home Depot last night - yes I know I spend too much time there. Dark, pouring rain, high 30s. Not exactly balmy.

So there's a minivan right by the front door and the kid I know is the cart collector jumps into it. His Dad is picking him up from work. As I'm walking out to my truck he's calling after me in very broken English. His minivan went dead and he wants a jump. OK. He hit the jackpot with that one. I grab my Maglite, tools and jump pack. Didn't load test it but the battery had 12.6v, terminals looked clean & tight. Electrical problem. She didn't so much as click with my jump pack on it. Dead as a door nail - not even an interior light. I happened to notice a big orange wire nut on something right next to the battery. They don't belong in a car and is a sure sign of stooopidness and that someone's field engineering has failed.

This man just stood there absolutely doing nothing useful but wanted it pushed over into a parking spot. Great idea. He could've put the minivan in neutral, turned the wheel and tried to push it with his son. Instead he just stood there waiting on me doing absolutely nothing. At that point the store manager came out, saw what was happening and we just did it for him. Of note, this minivan appears to be a private taxi. Had a sign on the door.

So here's the angst. I tried to help him and actually did even though getting his vehicle running wasn't possible right then and there. He didn't know what to do. I asked him if he had a phone - he did. So did his kid, he couldn't get his nose out of the damned thing. Told him to call for a tow. He could have someone there in a half hour - this ain't out in the sticks. Go into the damned store and wait - use their phone. They were closing but there were a lot of people still in there. Something. Anything. Nope. He wanted me to ride him and his son home! "I have no way to get home."
This guy is no kid - probably in his '40s at least. Actually, I probably would have done it but it wasn't local at all and it the opposite direction. I'd been out all day and wanted to go home myself. Again, I told him to call for a tow truck. It's what I would have done - or probably most of us. Told him I had to go pick up my wife, which wasn't true, and split. Maybe he didn't have the money, I don't know.

So today I'm feeling guilty. Not false modesty and I'm not fishing for praise - don't mind helping anybody. Tried to help this guy. But he seemed so damned pathetic I feel like maybe I should've just taken him home. It's like that little penguin that cried ice cubes when Bugs Bunny tries to ditch him .....

And then I flip and say why? He's a grown up that was going about his business before he met me, and if I were in that spot would I get a ride home from a passing stranger? Would I want one to do that anyway? Feel as if I was being taken advantage of.

But ....
Ugh .....

Less than two days until the new year and now I got complications...

I may be going back to the hospital tomorrow not because of the leg it's feeling better now but my left arm where they had the IVs in me, the nurse who changed it once missed my vein twice or scraped the side of it too, it's been hurting more lately and swelling a little more and I feel some numbness in my arm... I hope it's nothing serious but I'm watching it close today if it gets any worse I'm going to have my friend drive me to the hospital...

I am always shocked that people employed at a hospital or clinic can’t insert a needle in a vein when that is what they do daily. This happens to me quite a bit. Having someone prick me 3 and 4 times and can’t get close to the vein. I even have asked them to find someone to do it properly rather that leave a giant black and blue mark that will show up later on.

Oh yeah my arm is well bruised and swollen. I have it in a sling now and the pain has subsided to a tolerable level. I remember what I did now I was reaching up high for the window blinds I must have pulled something that was already injured there from that nurse. The numbness is gone away and I have feeling back in the hand so I think I'll avoid the trip of the hospital. lol

When I was leaving a hospital after a stay there, they decided to give me one last shot in the hand. By the time I got home my hand had swollen up to at least twice its size. It was scary and I didn’t want to turn around and head back to the hospital. I began to press on my hand and the liquid came shooting out.

Here they had missed my vein completely. The medicine was just floating around in my hand. I pushed and pushed until I got it to all come out from where they injected me. Needless to say, I haven’t gone back to that hospital.
