If I eat an orange, I go partially blind in both eyes for about an hour. Straight up weird.

This could well be the first sign of a change in fortunes for you nivek, small things like managing to stay out of hospital can be experienced as a big win.

Glad to hear it.

Back to work today, an early start too at 4 am, I feel a different vibe here at work too, I'm taking that as a good sign although the vibe isn't positive nor negative, just different, I like that and welcome it...

Looks like a busy day ahead too, they left me a list lol...

At Peace.
I woke to the harmonious sounds of rain hitting the roof.

I ponder it's symbolic meaning.

A cycle of life giving water, lifting, drifting, floating, and condensing.

The planetary purification, washing away its pain with a mortal cry...

giving rise to new things and living.

Dispensing the old and refreshing for a new 2020...

Bringing clarity its vision, Earth heals again.

and so I shut the lights off on the tree.
And tonight the window lights burn for one last night. on the 6th as tradition all comes down.
My boys are eager and planning revenge on the twins.
it was a great holiday
time to get back to work.

Fell asleep quite early last night, close to 8 pm, it was a very restful long sleep and quite an exciting dream, long dream too which is unusual for me...I had the 8th episode of the Mandalorian on my laptop near my bed, I was going to watch that show but fell asleep a few minutes into it...Then the dream began, an alien invasion was upon us, ships landing everywhere, aliens emerging from their ships and attacking people, taking people...I was with a small group of neighbors fighting them off and a pod came out of one of the small ships nearby us and it was getting closer to me...At the same time a couple aliens saw this and pointed to the pod as they were approaching it...I jumped out from behind my car and jumped one of them and started hitting the alien knocking it out but the other one hit me and I fell back on the ground...It pulled out its weapon and was about to shoot me but then the weapon started to fold in on itself and crumble into a ball and the alien seemed like something grabbed it and was squeezing it really hard crushing it and tossing the alien away...I get up and see twenty feet away from me that pod which was open and empty...There in front of it was baby yoda smiling at me, he did that to the alien helping me haha...

I worked 14 hours yesterday on PLCs exclusively, the techs had their hands full and I was asked to get my own personal programming laptop from home since the two programming laptops at work were being used for other problems...My own laptop contains licensed software from Siemens, Allen Bradley and Beckhoff purchased by me and for my own work...Its the first time I needed to use my laptop at work lol...

Anyway it is mental fatigue I'm feeling today, been sleeping off and on all morning and more this afternoon...Been dreaming like hell every time I close my eyes the last two days, never dreamed so much in years, vivid dreams too I remember quite well...

I think @Shadowprophet is rubbing off on me. Here's something that happened last night that is causing me some angst.

Left my local Home Depot last night - yes I know I spend too much time there. Dark, pouring rain, high 30s. Not exactly balmy.

So there's a minivan right by the front door and the kid I know is the cart collector jumps into it. His Dad is picking him up from work. As I'm walking out to my truck he's calling after me in very broken English. His minivan went dead and he wants a jump. OK. He hit the jackpot with that one. I grab my Maglite, tools and jump pack. Didn't load test it but the battery had 12.6v, terminals looked clean & tight. Electrical problem. She didn't so much as click with my jump pack on it. Dead as a door nail - not even an interior light. I happened to notice a big orange wire nut on something right next to the battery. They don't belong in a car and is a sure sign of stooopidness and that someone's field engineering has failed.

This man just stood there absolutely doing nothing useful but wanted it pushed over into a parking spot. Great idea. He could've put the minivan in neutral, turned the wheel and tried to push it with his son. Instead he just stood there waiting on me doing absolutely nothing. At that point the store manager came out, saw what was happening and we just did it for him. Of note, this minivan appears to be a private taxi. Had a sign on the door.

So here's the angst. I tried to help him and actually did even though getting his vehicle running wasn't possible right then and there. He didn't know what to do. I asked him if he had a phone - he did. So did his kid, he couldn't get his nose out of the damned thing. Told him to call for a tow. He could have someone there in a half hour - this ain't out in the sticks. Go into the damned store and wait - use their phone. They were closing but there were a lot of people still in there. Something. Anything. Nope. He wanted me to ride him and his son home! "I have no way to get home."
This guy is no kid - probably in his '40s at least. Actually, I probably would have done it but it wasn't local at all and it the opposite direction. I'd been out all day and wanted to go home myself. Again, I told him to call for a tow truck. It's what I would have done - or probably most of us. Told him I had to go pick up my wife, which wasn't true, and split. Maybe he didn't have the money, I don't know.

So today I'm feeling guilty. Not false modesty and I'm not fishing for praise - don't mind helping anybody. Tried to help this guy. But he seemed so damned pathetic I feel like maybe I should've just taken him home. It's like that little penguin that cried ice cubes when Bugs Bunny tries to ditch him .....

And then I flip and say why? He's a grown up that was going about his business before he met me, and if I were in that spot would I get a ride home from a passing stranger? Would I want one to do that anyway? Feel as if I was being taken advantage of.

But ....
Ugh .....

I wrote this just to vent because I felt bad for leaving the man there after I couldn't get his minivan started and know that nobody cares about an update. But here it is anyway.

Ran into his son yesterday and got the full story. Seems this is a chronic occurrence because he's a bumblef**k not broke. I feel better knowing that a) I didn't abandon the man to his doom and b) it seems the old instincts were operating just fine there.

What's that old saying ? God helps those who help themselves ....

Not sure if is this is an appropriate response but I had to put in my 2 cents worth. There is a Lowe's near my house. It is one of the few Lowe's located in an urban neighborhood. It's also one of the highest grossing stores in the chain. I know this because I worked a seasonal job there a while back.

All three parking lot entrances are always lined with homeless people and panhandlers. Most of them are honest people trying to find daily labor with contractors but many of them are scammers and cut-throats. Any time someone approaches me at an HD or a Lowe's with a story about needing money for the bus or because their car broke down, I always take it with a grain of salt. Sorry to be cynical but sometimes you have to be realistic. Give yourself credit for trying to do the right thing, PF.

This incident happened to me a few years back. I was working in the city and I passed this guy in his early thirties sitting on a busy street corner. He was panhandling for money and he tried to hit me up. I told him to get a real job. He didn’t like my advice so he started cursing me out.

There was nothing wrong with this guy’s health. He was just lazy and this was a good way to make money. I don’t mind helping those in need. It torques me when individuals just don’t want to support themselves so they take the easy, lazy way out.

Oddly, I've spent a few nights roaming around Grand Central Terminal in the wee hours. The ones that were incoherent but would actually take any food you offered them were the real ones that needed it. If they could carry a conversation, probably not so much.

I missed that original post and I just read up, we don't have many homeless around here, being a small town in the country, but we get the occasional 'few', meaning, you would think one or two passing through once in a while, but I've seen small groups of them suddenly around town at different roads coming in and out of town holding cardboard signs with some sob story, some have a small dog with them, the dogs always look healthy enough and so do the men holding the signs, although a bit dirty sometimes...One day saw a van going around scooping them all up, they were at a service station a few miles outside of town all together getting coffee and munchies, like they are all working together pooling their pickings and moving on...Don't know what to think of that, are they scamming or are they living out of that van, really homeless doing their thing...I'll never know...
