A newborn baby in England has become the world's youngest victim to test positive for coronavirus. The child's mother was rushed to hospital days ago with suspected pneumonia. The pair are being treated at separate hospitals with the baby being treated at North Middlesex Hospital where it was born (right), and the mother being moved to a specialist infections hospital. Doctors are trying to establish how the newborn contracted the virus, either through the womb or during birth.

All mass gatherings and sports events are set to be banned from next weekend, it can be revealed. In a major escalation of the coronavirus crisis, ministers are preparing to introduce emergency legislation early next week to allow this. The unprecedented move puts key summer events such as the Glastonbury Festival (bottom right, 2019), VE Day commemorations, Chelsea Flower Show, Wimbledon tennis championships, the Grand National and Royal Ascot under threat. It comes after sports bodies confirmed the postponement of the London Marathon (top right), the suspension of Premier League football matches and the cancellation of the England cricket team's Sri Lanka tour.

The cranking up of the government's response is also understood to hand police the powers to detain suspected virus victims 'for a limited period' to stop them spreading the infection. Boris Johnson's U-turn on stronger action similar to that taken in other countries came after mounting criticism from public health experts and politicians that Britain was not doing enough to keep the public safe. There were 6,729 new cases recorded yesterday across the globe, bringing the total confirmed number to 134,317. The death toll also rose by 351 to 4,968. Italy continues to be the hardest hit country after China and in an unprecedented move for modern times, Rome's more than 900 Catholic churches were ordered to shut. Five more countries - France, Ireland, Austria, Turkey and Norway - also announced special measures including the closure of all schools, universities and nurseries.

They clearly expect it to hit hard. They aren't directly saying so, but look at what they have invested into this, Even Fema for the sick to pay sick days for long enough to overcome it.

There are millions of people carrying the virus and spreading it around right now without even knowing that they're infected. Within a matter of days the vast majority of them will realize that they've been infected because their symptoms will show up. But given the short time it's been in the country, very few have had it and recovered, and most of the people who have recovered, had symptoms.

Two problems; the actual problem and the perceived one. DT has not distinguished himself by doing anything whatsoever to assuage the perceived one. If he could just give a half way decent fact checked press conference that would help. Politics aside if the tests were simple and readily available they would need to provide several for everyone. People are going absolutely batshit crazy.

Hell, I even bought into it a little too. One of the only perks for working in the big orange bidet that I do was to snag a case of toilet paper right off the truck. Had I let it go out on the floor it would have been gone in seconds. I'm not entirely sure that I really needed it or exactly what motivated me - impulse. But we all want to feel as if we're doing something. Boil water. Tear sheets into strips.

And just for fun my wife and I are developing sore throats. All the other things that make us sick haven't gone away - so is this the bell tolling Ragnarok or just something else unpleasant?

To look back on this and remember a leader who threw everything at it until a vaccine was available is how I want to recall it but no we have been shown a sombrero graph with a peak that would panic a ten spliff rastafarian. Large bodies such as the FA and RFU have had to take measures into their own hands and other events are going to follow. Schools please and a declaration to open the reserve as soon as possible.

An exercise in futility.
What can be done in the show without being wrong in some fashion? Any leader is going to be made out to be a fool in his action or inaction, doesn't matter.

They are all just one showman in this virus circus and the virus controls the spectacle as the ring leader just wears the hat.

No I think making an effort is hugely important, even if it fails. All the showmen surrounding us are closing up wholesale, schools, colleges and shops will follow. Being seen to be doing the right thing which is to limit the spread becomes important when looking at how the public react. People are in disbelief that we haven't enforced anything and have only advised self isolation for seven days.

The reserve Kchoo, in order to open it you have to declare a national emergency and it has to go back in afterwards.

Of this we will be last.

Hope it's just the seasonal strain. I would self isolate as i'm instructed to but that isn't always financially possible for some, me included but the first sign of symptoms it's what I'm supposed to do and will.

Spring is in the air and the trees are now beginning to bud. I suspect our itchy and scratchiness has more to do with that than Chinese lab bat virus.

I just got off the phone with a hypochondriac friend who is getting kooky over this. He's not feeling well and actually has some real health issues that put him in a higher risk category. But he has a history of playing Chicken Little and I am not sure what to make of it. Not my place to dissuade him although we agreed that a meeting we both have with someone early next week might have to be postponed. Seems prudent. Apart from how he's feeling it's just outside the Forbidden Zone or whatever the hell they call it down in Westchester county.

If I really start to get sick I have been told I can take two weeks off unpaid immediately, no problem. Wouldn't mind that, actually. If I test positive or my home is in a quarantine area the they'll pay me. Something to look forward to.

I guess I'll go downstairs and fix a bayonet to one of my rifles and be prepared to defend my stash of asswipe.

This is the one important time that Trump has to step up for the nation. Instead I read that he isn’t to “blame” for this problem. It was due to Obama!

I can't help but remember the Okay boomer movement, Which happened last year. A viral sentiment that basically amounts to, "Okay Old useless relic from the past that is in the way of modern youth and progress because you have outlived your usefulness to a point of burden upon others" <--- there was real displeasure and unique scorn behind the Boomer comments. Truly a lot of millennials believe "boomers" Had a relatively easy life and didn't face nearly the hardships that youths of today face. So the regalia of their past is nothing but a reminder of how much things suck today.

The truth is, most of the population looks at the boomer population and thinks of them as old and in the way, A burden taking up space and resources. This is why the Okay Boomer meme went so viral.

What if the Corona Virus, Literally is a "Boomer Virus" A virus designed to just wipe out the boomer population? That seems to be it's MO, It devastates the older population.

What if the Coronavirus is the international equivalent of population control, What If The Coronavirus literally is A Boomer Virus? Think about it, The original reason boomers were called boomers, to begin with, was the baby boom after world war II. What is a Boom? A huge sudden population explosion, So, We have more boomers Right now than ever at any point in human history.

Look I know people think I'm crazy, And those people would be right, Right now. I'm not at ease. But, We have so many people and we have seen governments kill people before, Even our own government has killed its own people with PRojects like Mkultra, And what did we get for that, The same government that killed us got on stage and basically said, Wow, That was our bad, We shouldn't have done that. you can't convince me that my life and your life is especially important to the government on some federal level. I think China, At some Point behind closed doors, said Hey, We know a way to fix the population problem within a few years.

I think it is just older people have more compromised immune systems and compromised Cardio Vascular systems. But i do not discredit a Tailored Virus theory cause how does it jump from bat to human.... That is like saying a new for of spider aids is out and sweeping the nation do not eat any spiders.... as far as death toll... I will admit in short term it seems to have a longer recovery rate than the flu but the flu has more deaths under it's belt atm and i think it will continue to reign the deadliest in america until next year some time... Other parts of the world i do not know about because we are being censored.
