Was talking with my mom yesterday about her dad, who died in 1985. He had a heart attack while working on his farm. Mom said that a couple of years ago she was out walking and, when she got to the spot where grandpa died, a giant owl suddenly appeared flew over her head by just a couple of feet. Owls of several species are pretty common here but she was struck by how large this one was, on the large end of the scale even for a Great Horned Owl.

Yes, there is nothing supernatural about encountering an owl in its ordinary habitat. But I still can't help but wonder about it. I have read many stories of how bereaved people have encountered animals which they came to believe were the spirits of deceased people or at least sent there by them. Anybody here have any stories like this to share?

You might look for the book “The Messengers: Owls, Syncronicity and the UFO Abductee” by Mike Clelland.

I think I've posted this here before, but my owl story isn't paranormal. I was out in the middle of the night on a service call, took my truck into an exit ramp at highway speed and suddenly saw something rise up right in front of me. In that instant I recognized it as a really big and possibly not so wise owl.

Rang the steel bumper on that big Ford like a bell. If it was one of my relatives back here to pass along a message maybe it was one of my great-grandfathers. The one that was run over by an electric trolley car.

So, does anyone have ideas or beliefs about the afterlife for pets? My oldest cat is terminally ill and has good days and bad days. I just keep wondering where she is going to go, and if I will ever see her again. This experience has sharpened my desire to receive some sort of communication from people and animals who have crossed over. At night before I go to sleep, I practice breath control and meditation. In my mind, I ask my loved ones simple questions like:

Are you there?

Am I living my life in a way that makes you proud?

Are you reunited with your own loved ones?

Will I see you again?

In my mind I receive simple yes or no answers. Of course, I have no idea whether that is my imagination, I am hearing what I want to hear, or if the spirits are actually trying to reach me.

Psychics will tell you that this is the most asked question they get: "do pets go to heaven also?" The answer, according to most of them, is a resounding "yes".

My sweet old cat died on monday morning while laying across my lap. She went about as peacefully as she could have, and I am very grateful for being the person to hand her off to the next world. I am now thinking about where she is now, and whether she will send me any kind of message to say she made it to the other side.

See ya on the flipside, Rosie.

I read your message,
and I am sure that I am suppose to relay that she is just fine
guess the implied message here is that it is somehow hard to send messages from there

At Peace.
That is very reassuring to hear!
After mine died -about a week after- I was awoken to the feel of her walking over my feet in the middle of the night...

Now, one could say it was just a dream, but it does not matter, because it comforted me greatly to sense that she was still around in some way. I want to believe it was something real. It felt as though she wanted to walk over my feet one more time to say goodbye... then I think she moved on. It was just what I needed.

Last night I had a vivid dream. I went to visit my cat's grave site, and found her curled up and cozy on top of it like she was taking a nap. She was healthy and happy like she was for most of her life. In my dream I thought, "how could I have been so stupid! She was going to recover but I buried her alive." And then it hit me, Rose had in fact died a physical death but her spirit or essential being is still very much alive, and she wanted to let me know that.

I know this was a dream, and there is nothing inherently paranormal about that. Still, I count it as a gift, a badly needed reassurance.

most of the visits others have told me of when someone passes have been in dreams,
even when tell of when they had no idea someone had passes, and only found out after the goodbye dream
it must be easier for them to do so in the dreams than here.

From what I have read, our soul is more easily able to access other planes of existence when we are sleeping than when we are awake. So, it makes sense that souls on the other side would be able to contact us more easily in dreams. I've had a few dreams which I believe were glimpses into another plane. In one of them, I met a woman named Penny who I think I am married to on whichever plane she lives in.

Watched that movie for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it...very grand on the scale.

I love this other Afterlife film which was grand but never gets the mass recognition like It's A Wonderful Life ( which I love ) has gotten in the last 30 years or so.

indeed. your body, depending on which way you've chosen for it to go, is a goner. your energy, again dependent on how you were able to develop it in the course of your lifetime, is released into the atmosphere. that's it. you're done. anything feeling thinking or intuiting otherwise is nothing more that wishful wanting. likewise the myriad of 'ways' to be a somebody, aka 'the show must go on'. :cool2:
