Civil Unrest & Protests

Wish the news coverage stops calling them protests. They are looting and rioting, plan and simple.

Seems to me that justice was pretty swift in this case.

I am not taking anything away from such a horrible event but it amazes me that this is happening over an individual yet no one batters and eyelid over atrocities that happen on a daily basis in countries such as North Korea. It does seem Stalin was right. "A Single Death is a Tragedy; a Million Deaths is a Statistic."

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter, Chiara, arrested at Manhattan protest

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter was arrested at a Manhattan protest on Saturday night, law enforcement sources told The Post on Sunday.

Chiara de Blasio, 25, was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. after cops declared an unlawful assembly at 12th Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan, the sources said.

She had allegedly been blocking traffic on Broadway and was arrested after refusing to move, the source said.

“That was a real hotspot, police cars were getting burned there, people were throwing and yelling, fighting with cops. There were thousands of people in that area at that time,” the source said.

Chiara gave a residence on East End Avenue as her address — otherwise known as Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s Upper East Side home. But she didn’t tell cops she was the mayor’s daughter.

The arrest came about an hour before Hizzoner told protesters it was time to “go home.”

“We appreciate and respect all peaceful protests, but now it is time for people to go home,” de Blasio said at a press conference at 11:30 p.m. at the NYC Emergency Management headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn.

“If you went out peacefully to make a point about the need for change, you have been heard and change is coming in the city. I have no doubt about that. It’s time to go home so we can all move forward.”

On Sunday, the mayor declared that anarchist agitators with an “explicit agenda of violence” have co-opted police-brutality protests for destruction.

“It is a small number of people. It is well organized, even though many of the people are associated with the anarchist movement,” de Blasio said in a City Hall press briefing of the outside opportunists he blamed for the now-nationwide demonstrations descending into chaos.

BREAKING: Mounds of Bricks and Bottles found Downtown, Demonstrations Set for Monday Night

BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- According to sources mounds of bricks and bottles have been found in Downtown Baltimore. Baltimore Police confirmed they are working with law enforcement partners to sweep the area.

There are several demonstrations planned for Monday evening. Sources FOX45, officers are being briefed on the situation during roll call.

Following a weekend of mostly peaceful protests marred by pockets of violence and vandalism in the city, the FOP sent out a message to officers. “You are clearly warriors, and I would lay down my life for any of you.”

WTF is wrong with people? How can a cop in this day and time of cameras everywhere think he is going to get away with choking a handcuffed perp with a foot to the neck, not to mention that it's straight up wrong in the first place? Likewise, how do others think that destruction and violence are going to somehow convince the general public that they are the innocent victims here? I swear, stupidity is more dangerous than covid 19 ever could be.

I think that justice could have moved more swiftly in this case. They had a video of the policeman murdering Floyd on Monday, and it took until Friday for him to be arrested. The man he murdered was arrested with no delay on suspicion of a much less serious offence.

However, the incident has exposed massive leftist hypocrisy over the pandemic. That was the biggest crisis ever, and we should all stay in our homes and not gather in groups and it was only nasty conservative types who wanted people to continue to gather and catch the virus. Now this event has happened, which is the murder of a single individual in a single city and has happened before in a similar fashion several times in recent years, and leftists throughout much of the western world, not just in the US, have taken to the streets in protest (and a sizeable fraction of them to foment unrest). The pandemic is to be forgotten all of a sudden, and it must not eclipse the murder of George Floyd. Does Covid-19 cause mass insanity? Or has it been brought about by social distancing regulations? Either way there is a lot of madness about.

That those further afield have begun to protest, in places like London and Dublin, is particularly disturbing. Many of them seem unable to comprehend that they are not even in the same country, putting their hands up and yelling 'Don't Shoot!' at unarmed police. Policing in Britain has many faults, and I am fiercely critical of police conduct. But the reputation of police forces here in Britain cannot be determined by that in places like Minneapolis, which is in a dissimilar and foreign country.

It's called Police Privilege, and it manifests in many forms.

I know in my last post I said I was going to take a break from internet forums because I wanted to stay away from the toxic political posts but, good Lord! The things going on in my hometown right now are insane!

Protesters burned a bus; set an occupied house aflame and prevented fire fighters from helping the people out; broke the windows out of a synagogue; vandalized the children's museum; and, of course, burned and looted dozens of small, mostly locally owned, businesses. Yet, still, the local media is always quick to preface stories about such activities by disclaiming that "the folks who do these things are not part of the protests". Are you kidding me!?

Our idiot libtard politicians are out and about at every opportunity, to get their faces in the cameras, including US Senator Tim Kaine, who recently tested positive for Covid-19. (?????) Not sure how that works. I thought people who tested positive were supposed to self quarantine?

About 2 weeks ago, there was a big stink because our governor, who recently ordered public masks be required in all public buildings, was seen walking along the boardwalk in Virginia Beach talking to people without a mask. Now we have these spoiled brat white kids protesting, burning, looting every night but the media acts as if the Covid-19 no longer exists.

I agree 100% with AD1184 about leftist hypocrisy regarding the virus! If it all wasn't so tragic it would be laughable.

The amount of Virtue signalling I am seeing on Facebook and Instagram is ridiculous.
I guarantee in one months time they will all move onto the next horrific event and this will be forgotten.
Do something about it instead of posing a black box.

Virtue signalling online is probably better than going out and burning shops.

Agreed. However the sort of people I am describing are those who have be on the latest band wagon of societal outrage, yet like the vast majority do little to make a difference other than post something on Facebook.

The protests have come very close to my house. I have weapons and I will use them to defend my home if necessary. That's my perspective.

The closest city to me waging civil disorder is an hour drive away and I hear they have an 8pm curfew...Glad I'm not living near any of that craziness, but many do, I hope you are safe and stay safe...

Don't blame you and so you should.

We have much debate in UK over "reasonable force" against intruders. Although since the Tony Martin case (interesting reading if you get the chance) those defending themselves usually are not penalised after much legal wranglings.

I have guns aplenty and there have been some disturbances locally but don’t feel any particular need to lock & load.

Many years ago there was a riot in a nearby small city. There was a mob roaming around. Burned out a number of buildings and small businesses. I was at my girlfriend’s apartment right in the middle of it. My motorcycle was on the street. I decided to go home and was packing my bag. She saw me take a .45 out of it and put it it my waistband. She said ‘what good would that do if you got attacked by a hundred people?’

Fair question.

My response was ‘if I shoot the first 8 maybe the other 92 would go away’

Fortunately nothing came of it.

Thanks for your concern. No Pigfarmer, my friend, things are much better today and I only needed to vent. It was a situation I've noticed you too are sadly familiar with.
