Something else for the dog to go nuts over. I've seen this guy out there and he's immature, a youngster. Raccoon. Seems he took up residence in exactly the same place a family of big Woody Woodpecker sized ... woodpeckers ... took up residence a year or two ago. About 25 feet up in that tree.

This is turning into a Disney film out there - I need to start charging rent.

editing problem. I have intermittent problems getting a pic posted and if I just want to cancel or remove the text from the post I can't so sometimes I'll stick a period in there for lack of any better idea.

I was trying to post another raccoon pic. I know it's a repeat but saw that there were two little guys in there this morning that were just waaaaay too cute. Can't seem to get a pic of them both but I do see little bitty paws grasping the edge of the hole before the head(s) peek out. Pie the Piedog is vibrating like a tuning fork. To my city girl wife every animal of a certain size if referred to as a beaver. I just successfully redirected the barn beavers (woodchucks) , now I got tree beavers.

You need to change before you go out
before you leave the house get some decent clothes on..
.The age old trials of parents wishing the kids dressed more practical.
spread from or twins to Ian who has taken to wearing low rider pants
this may be a style but it is inappropriate this reminded Rikki and me that he is almost 13 and we will have 3 teenage kids in the house..

1. Do raccoons pose any problems for you?
2. How are you and your dog managing to detect those critters way up in trees? I suppose your dog sniffs them. Is he alerting you to them, or do you spend a lot of time scanning your environment?

A while back i did all the sheetrock in my living room and insulated, its ready for bed and tape. Instead i went ahead and tore down the ceiling in the dining room and redone it. Its the room that has the intake for the central heat and air. so i had to do it at night when it was cool. i started around 8pm tuedsay night and finished at sunrise wednesday. cleaned my mess and took all the shit to the dump when they opened. still have an outside wall in the dining to insulate and drywall and a large patch on a different wall, but getting there none the less, gonna have to brace the ceiling in the dining like i did the rest using a bareback across the top to outer walls. oh and we put in for a new roof through HUD back in Feb and they have already had contractors coming by to give them est.`s . But the way it looks by fall i should have both the living and dining rooms finished. and a new roof. Than the fun part. moving switching a bath and laundry, and remodeling the kitchen, ugh. thing is the ol lady wants the kitchen moved to the dining room. jeez... but in 5 years i shall it paid off and doubled the value, hopefully

No, they're generally harmless. It's just that I have a morning routine with Pie that she does her business right away and we're back in the house in less than 5 minutes. But she knows they're up there and that screws up the schedule. She just wants to sit at at the base of the tree and jabber and slobber and rave at them. I have to admit they are really, really adorable. They'll move on soon enough.

Dogs will generally tell you when something's around but once in a while they miss something. Like a few weeks back when I stepped on a f*****g turkey in the pitch black. Had it flapping and gobbling right between my legs and all three of us about had a coronary.

I never knew how entertaining it could be watching a couple hummingbirds fighting, until I see one live lol...That was the first hummingbird fight I've seen right in front of me, all of the circling and acrobatics they do and diving and poking at each other...It didn't last long, those little birds are fast and probably they were fighting because one of the two hummingbird feeders I have hung out was empty this afternoon, I think it has been leaking...They went at it right outside my dining room window where one feeder is hanging, the other feeder is 20 feet away hanging on a dogwood tree, it was the empty one...I'm going to get it fixed or get a new one this evening, so far theres at least six hummingbirds coming around this year, more are on the way...Here's a short clip I found of some hummingbird fights...

A couple of weeks ago early in the morning i heard what sounded like a bear huffing when i took out the trash to the curb, we dont have bear around here, eastern oklahoma but not here. than i seen where one has been spotted on trail cams here in central Oklahoma, so it couldve very well been a bear. ever since my dog has not wanted out at 2am in the morning like always , i thought it was the heat. we didnt have the dog till she was 10, and the people that had her before did live in places were there was bear and i think she knew one was around.

Just about to head out into the garden to clean up some weeds and mowing the grass today...Tell tale signs that there is a fox or coyote nest nearby, me and my dog hear that yapping of puppies off and on last few days...I've also been noticing shit in the back near the garden that's coming from small dogs, and little small animals have been setting off my motion sensor lights around the workshop at night...My dog knows when those lights go off there's something down there and he wants to run right after it when he sees that happen too LOL...

The crooked neck watermelon plants are doing well so far in this North Carolina soil, in the images below they are the plants in all four corners, the row in the middle are French green bean plants and to each side are sunflower plants that will get about 5 to 6 feet tall...I've got two more plots of green beans planted and a plot of tomatoes, broccoli, and peppers...

Yesterday was Mrs.Pigfarmer's birthday. Took the old car out and went to a drive up burger & ice cream place. Chili cheese fries ..... mmmmm .... wish they sold the antidote. Ooof. Spicy. That'll burn the covid right out of you, boy-o.

Today is FIOS installation day. I finally had enough Optimum cable after 22 years. Had to go through about 30 places to change email addresses, including this one. Verizon is usually a clown show. I already ran the 5e cable for the interface and saved the guy the trouble of finding the wrong places to drill holes in my house. I remember lighting up a huge office building about 30 years ago - installing fiber. The technology at the time was barely field portable and it took absolutely forever. Now it's all cheap plug & play. Interesting to me. And no - I won't be bothering the young man. This is the opportunity for him to demonstrate his skill, not the other way around. Just hope it works out that way.

For the record, it worked out just fine. Nice to see a tech who puts in some effort and takes pride in what he does with zero nonsense.
