This dude has an online company that employs about 20 people. He's known as a big mouth. But he brings up some very interesting points. Check it out:

I don't know enough of American work culture to make a comment however is this not discrimination in the US?

If a company in the UK said they will not hire English people then that would had before the courts. I mean there are companies like this but you don't broadcast it.

Yeah, things are very different in the US from how the UK works.

As I understand, I might be wrong, in the US they don't actually have the right to go on holiday, like 20-30 days per year.

That being said, unions in US are supper strong, particularly in the car manufacturing.

One thing about Americans is our short attention spans. I flamed out about half way through. Big chair, big microphone. Interesting choices. This sounded like an infomercial for his company more than anything else.

Working remotely has always had a certain stigma associated with it. One of the rare positives of the virus is that it's become more mainstream. A very good friend has been making the hajj into Manhattan for years. His company was so pleased to discover that employees really are productive working remote that it's becoming policy. When you extrapolate the energy savings alone it's a wonder that we haven't put all the broadband access we have to better use.

Unions, man that's a mixed bag. I was a Communications Workers of America member for 32 years. Overall I'd say it fit well in my industry and was a net positive. You can find good and bad examples to support any point you want to make about them. Paid time off was something we had to negotiate for. I got about 7 weeks per year total plus national holidays.

Oh - and about interesting background choices. We see people on TV in home offices who have obviously arranged their background in some way they think is appropriate. I'd like a large flag hung behind me with a dagger piercing the Earth. I need to go scrounge a uniform with large shoulder boards with lightning bolts. Possibly a helmet.

Yep and for me personally I think they are too bureaucratic and bloated, more concerned about their own purse strings than helping the average worker...I never worked for a union and never want to, I think they should be abolished in their present form...I might be wrong but that's how I see unions in the present day...

The TL;DR version of the video above is (this is my paraphrase of the points in the video):
  • Americans are mercenary and will leave the company after two years.
  • Americans are too political, leading to workplace disruption.
  • Americans are constantly distracted by social media, news, etc.
  • Americans feel that they are entitled to a job or that it is beneath them, will only work fixed hours and insist on lunch breaks.
  • Hiring Americans usually comes with more regulatory complication.
